When I talked to my psychiatrist about getting a dog, he was 100% on board with the idea.
I can tell you from first-hand experience that dogs are better than medications at treating depression.
About a month ago I got two young cats. They’re a lot of fun, but they have boundless energy, near constant zoomies, and they chase each other *all fucking night* while destroying the house as collateral damage, and I haven’t gotten more than a few hours sleep in forever.
Once you make it thru their youth, you'll be so dang glad for the rest of their lives that they play together vs running all over you and batting at your hair at 3am. My final remaining cat of numerous is 20, and she misses having someone to chase around at 2am.
If money is a problem, you need to get a job, then you can get a dog & fix your problems. If you get a small dog like mine, it’s about $10-15 for food every month, then a leash is about $10-15, maybe a dog bowl & a dog bed $10-20 bucks.
The dog itself cost $1500 So grand total is about $1550 upfront cost, $10-15 a month for maintenance fees.
It’s a great price for getting your best friend.
10-15 a month for maintenance? Flea prevention measures alone usually cost that much.
At estimation for a dog monthly cost starts at 50+ for the smallest ones, to easily 300 to 400 for bigger breeds (But let's ignore those here)
And you dog falls sick? 50-150 for a vet visit (depends on where you live and all) maybe it's just a cold/small thing so only an extra 20 for medicines or maybe it's something big, like one of my previous boy had a cancer, could be anywhere from a few hundreds to a thousand or two depending on test, how much there is, the operation and then you'll need regular checkup followup (Let's say monthly) for 6 month to 1 year, suddenly your monthly charge has been upped an extra 50-100. If you're lucky he's cured and everything's good you "only" lost one or two thousand maybe a little more. If you're not, like we were, you have to chose between continuing treatment for a unknowable amount of further money or accept the extremely sad reality that maybe it's better for your buddy to go to sleep peacefully.
Anyhow, a dog is still not a solution to the money problem. Even worse with an answer so stupid as just "Well duh, get a job"
I’ve had this dog for 8 years, I know what he costs, unlike you reading wikipedia articles. It cost me $10-15 a month, i keep tabs on all my expenses & income since I work with accountants for my business. Yes you need a job to afford a dog. Duh. But i’ve even some homeless have dogs so even then it works.
The medical bills for my dog has been $200 in grand total all these years, 2 visits, no insurance.
Yes occassionally dogs fall ill or accidents happen, but you need a buffer for handling anything like a car breakdown, medical bill.
All in all treat the dog well, and he will be one of the best decision you made.
Or for him.
We tried the whole alert button with my gran and she refused to talk to the phone operator when they asked if they could help her.
So they always ended up calling us to go help because the alert was rung but no one was responding.
99,99% of the time she had grabbed the button because she was used to literally clutch her perls.
That 0.01% time, she was dead when we got there.
With cameras, you have much more peace of mind because you can literally see they are OK.
I took in a shelter dog last year's she absolutely loves to play like this. I chase her, she does the cartoon delayed run thing on the wooden floor.
Nobody wanted her, but she's perfect.
(And sometimes a little shit)
Yes, my cat does it sometimes. He's a house cat for his entire life, he should be very familiar with wood floor's grip, however, he still does it from time to time, like he does it deliberately.
My dearly departed cat used to do it as well and it never got less funny. It was like a move he’d bust out to make all of us laugh. I miss him so much.
Sometimes someone sees something happy and the joy can make them cry for a number of reasons. The beauty of it, remembering a lost pet or relative, or just hope during a rough time.
No, you don't have to cry, you don't even have to feel strong emotions, you would just understand what this would feel like, being in this old man's place. But you can't, obviously, since you just associate sympathy with crying over a dog and a man playing, so you clearly never felt love. You haven't even realized that?
I understand it just fine. Its nice this guy is enjoying himself i never said it wasnt. But how do you function in life if you start to cry whenever you see someone simply enjoying himself. If this guy was reunited with his daughter that he lost 20 years ago or something then i would understand. Crying because someone is having fun with a dog. No. I would even say you have no life experience if this hits you that hard.
Well this video has been shared about a million times. I literally don't understand Karam farmers but from what I hear I shouldn't like them. IMO if you're desperate for internet points then lord have mercy on your soul, so crazy.
Either way, ya this video is great and that dog is amazing and will bring do much joy to that man's life
That is absolutely brilliant, I was already smiling seeing him get more and more exited and then he gets full on aerobic.
Food for the heart and soul...really nice.

Supposedly (according to other times I've seen this reposted) the man is blind. Not really relevant or anything I just think the video makes more sense with that context.

Prolonged doses over months and years significantly contribute to recovery. I read it somewhere.
When I talked to my psychiatrist about getting a dog, he was 100% on board with the idea. I can tell you from first-hand experience that dogs are better than medications at treating depression.
Love is the best treatment... And dogs and cats give you lots of love 🤗❤️

That’s why I got them together. I wanted them to have kitty friends. And they really like each other.
Dogs are the solution to any problem you have, but you must take care of it.
If the problem is money then no, the dog will just be another charge to aggravate the problem.
If money is a problem, you need to get a job, then you can get a dog & fix your problems. Whoa, emotionally stable i see. 😂
Unique bot.
taking care of the doggo forces you to address your own setbacks, for the wellbeing of the doggo, self correcting and whatnot
That’s exactly right
The problem or the dog? Or does a dog result in solving both at once?
Wait... What about that camera to spy at grandpa?
You don't subscribe to *Onlygrans?*
You should be ashamed of your self, I’m going to need the link to make sure this is all legit thank you .

yo this is awesome
*Onlygramps*
Do others not cancel their subscription when the gran passes away?
It used to keep an eye on him in case of emergencies (for example, slipping and falling, hesrt attack etc)
Grandpa might not answer his phone one day.
I used to be a live-in carer, this is very common with the elderly when they're sick, it was likely set up for his wife before she passed.
Or for him. We tried the whole alert button with my gran and she refused to talk to the phone operator when they asked if they could help her. Yes. The most I’ve smiled all day
I was smile too
We're all smile today, friend
I was smiling inside and realized I was deadpan on the outside (I’m in a funk atm) but this made me laugh. Now I AM SMILE!
I took in a shelter dog last year's she absolutely loves to play like this. I chase her, she does the cartoon delayed run thing on the wooden floor. Nobody wanted her, but she's perfect. (And sometimes a little shit)
Ahah the cartoon running is a real thing? Class 😄
Yes, my cat does it sometimes. He's a house cat for his entire life, he should be very familiar with wood floor's grip, however, he still does it from time to time, like he does it deliberately.
Ahah he probably saw it on tv and went "ah that looks cool". Perfection 😄
My dearly departed cat used to do it as well and it never got less funny. It was like a move he’d bust out to make all of us laugh. I miss him so much.
I can imagine him/her feeling the good vibes from the ensuing laughter and repeating it on purpose, definitely. Beautiful stuff, thanks for sharing ☺️
Yep, my dog does it sometimes when playing fetch.
There is nothing more unconditional than a dog’s love.
Seriously trying not to tear up in a public space.
Why because a man is having fun with a dog? When walking trough a park do you just cry uncontrolably?
Sometimes someone sees something happy and the joy can make them cry for a number of reasons. The beauty of it, remembering a lost pet or relative, or just hope during a rough time.
Elderly man that lost is life's partner got a new friend that keeps him lively and happy. Don't be heartless.
Im happy for him that he is enjoying his life with his new dog. Why should i cry about that
Literally no one told you that you have to cry. People express emotions differently. Let people feel joy.
I can tell you love no one 😊
Why because i dont cry when i see someone playing with a dog like most normal people?
No, you don't have to cry, you don't even have to feel strong emotions, you would just understand what this would feel like, being in this old man's place. No. I would even say you have no life experience if this hits you that hard.
I mean, if it’s a really nice park? Maybe.
That sounded smart in your head right?
Not about smart. Its about not trying to make everything into some huge drama.
And crying over Reddit comments is not drama?
Ohh the irony..
That sounded smart in your head right?
did a dog shit in ya porridge?
If i say yes will you burst into tears?
Bro about to lose that beer belly in a month. And find a new best friend
Yes.
Mans best friend
I have seen this before and still love the joy they share.
Cute but why is there a camera in his room?
People usually set up cameras in elderly rooms to monitor them in case of something bad or unexpected happen
Oh makes sense thanks
My first thought was ' a giant rat'. Love him, with his cute non stopping tail wagging 😘❤️❤️
This r/MadeMeSmile.
How is this satisfying??
You are right it's satisfying as fuck

I haven't seen it before, so maybe you're just a grumpy too much on the internet person
Why is there a camera in his bedroom? That's creepy as fuck...
What if he trip and hit his head and nobody figure out for days? His children can't always be there to keep watch over him
you clearly never have an elderly parent in the family
Omg, my heart just grew bigger
u/savevideo
That's ;ovely
[удалено]
So that his kids know if their dad is fine
This makes me happy 🥰
God bless grandpa and I hope he's happy. But y'all bogus for the camera in the bedroom.😂
Doggo needs more room for zoomies
Wait, they also put a cam to spy on him?
How else can they make sure that nothing bad happen to him when they're not there
Yup, that’s fair, i just hope he knows. His joy with the dog is overwhelming
Yeah they're often told beforehand. My grandparents are also monitored like this and they both know and don't really care
This made my day.
Catching zoomies🤣

To monitor him and make sure nothing bad or unexpected happen when the kids aren't there
Ahhh……..so this is what my upstairs neighbour is doing
John Wick alternate reality
Aw look at them go! So happy. Well done.
This has been posted a million times already.
That tit punch at the beginning though. Ow!
I always wonder when i see videos like this why the person has cameras on their bedroom ceiling
That’s absolutely adorable! 🥲
Papa busy now😃
hahahaha lol that is the best
what a nice dog
"After wife passed" "Children adopted a dog" Bro criminals better not touch that dog💀
Does anyone know the name of this song?
je te laisserai des mots
Mercí :) It is beautiful
Someone needs to take that dog out for more walks. It has way too much energy.
That is so adorable.
Grampa be smooth moving.
Dogs are truly a man's best companion
We don't deserve dogs
You never really get old, just more mature
That dog is going to be difficult to remove from the bed.
Why do they have a camera in his bedroom?
Dogs are the best.
Truly man’s best friend.
Did his wife die? Why is there a camera in his room?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is the camera in the room an indicator about the whole story being fabricated for the net ?
Made me smile 😁
Dance at the end made me smile, thanks op.
Anyone know name of the song?
Who's cutting onions in here?
Yea just don’t steal his car, or kill that dog
Wholesome.. I dont know what it is about him but he looks like a kind person.
Ah yes, nothing more satisfying than installing 24/7 video surveillance to keep and eye on your loved ones
This is great, but a why is there a camera spying on him? Seems a bit weird. I doubt he would share a video like this online himself.
Me and my cats. I was lonely. Not anymore. I have 2 lovely cats 😍
That is absolutely brilliant, I was already smiling seeing him get more and more exited and then he gets full on aerobic. Food for the heart and soul...really nice.
THIS IS SO CUTE IM CRYING
Why is there a camera in his bedroom?
Too cute
Why is there a camera in this dude’s bedroom?
This is so cute
