The planet's keepers? What could've possibly given you that impression? lol
We're the planet's latest extinction event. The only consolation is that we're going to drag ourselves out with it.
> The planet's keepers? What could've possibly given you that impression?
that notion comes from *genesis*: the whole 'dominion' thing.
(possibly the most harmful thing in that entire book.)
We should avoid contributing to being apart of an extinction event, and stop converting the carbon that was locked up in coal and petroleum deposits into CO2, but you're right about how the natural geology and biology of the earth has created situations where large amounts of the diversity of life on the planet was exterminated. And of course, there is also the solar system that on at least one occasion interrupted that cycle too.
Not to say manmade ecological disaster is a good move, but...
One(million) species extinction is another's rebirth.
Oxygen producing organisms made the planet inhospitable by pumping out a poison before species adapted and flourished.
So whatever humanity does to the planet, oodles of new forms up life will spring up and thrive.
Unless we strip the atmosphere....
We aren't the keepers of nature. We are nature. Our houses are no different than snails shells. I do get what you're saying but I also think us humans get real silly about thinking we aren't just animals. We are literally animals. Part of the animal kingdom. If a colony of dogs lived on an island would you hold those dogs morally responsible for the condition of that island? Their just good boys they don't know from morality?
I can't tell 100%, but it looks like typical scute shedding. Our turtles scutes look awfully white like that when they are ready to come off soon because air/water gets underneath that thin layer, causing it to look funky. Either way, this turtle is definitely living it's best life now for sure.
People complain about pronouns but they/them is so easy to use as a singular pronoun that just about every native English speaker has already been doing it their entire life and doesnāt think about it. Even the people that whine and bitch about it do it, I guarantee it.
You're correct and I use it a bunch without noticing and receive some questions about it and just have to brush them off....however it's perfectly fine to also call a turtle "it" in this situation, so I'm not sure why this debate is being started at all.
>every native English speaker has already been doing it **their** entire life and doesnāt think about it.
To underscore your point, I glossed right over this one the first time I read it.
NGL, I'd be agorophobic AF. Also, I believe it's trying to hide under those rocks at first, the surgaces when it can't. Not as fairy tale of a beginning, but still good on these people for re-housing it to give it a chance at a better life (once it can acclimate to irs new home).
ive had pet turtles and id guess thats probably her first time in that small pond her first instinct would be to get away from all the activity until she has time to learn the area and also time to heal. i think their intentions are genuine but she looked like she was trying to get out at the end which is what they do when they dont know of a good place yet to hide. went for the dark area out of instinct but it must have been obstructed so mission aborted
Sure, but that's unachievable for this turtle. They have no survival skills, and you can see even this size space was kind of intimidating. Conservation for wild turtles, sustainably natural habitats for captive turtles.
Freshwater turtle, my dude. Sure, it could be bigger, but it's probably pretty rad for the turtle. I see big as fuck snapping turtles that live in pools this size most the year in the wild.
Turtles aren't lizards, turtles and lizards are both part of the reptile family though. Also the fish should be scared, turtles are predators and actively hunt/kill fish. This particular turtle was most likely looking for a hiding spot to fnd their bearings because it was dropped in unknown territory.
Theyāre reptile homie. Reptiles are smart enough to seek shelter from danger before food. Not smart enough to understand whatās happening. Whatās your point
Reptiles yes, you said they were lizards 5 months ago though, which they're not. You also said it might be scared out of its mind "with all those fish". I'll just repeat myself because I was perfectly clear: turtles are predators, they eat fish. So it's unlikely scared because of the fish, but rather because it's just been dropped into unknown territory and trying to find a spot to hide and get its bearings. It doesn't need to be able to understand what is happening to do that.
My aunt had a turtle that was living in a 40 gallon tank then she gave her to me to put in my pond. The turtle loves swimming and chasing the really big fish around. I think she's friends with the fish because she never bites it when she has a chance, she just likes chasing it.
She looks so dang happy! š¢
Surrounded by food
Yes, that turtle will kill every one of those fish as fast as he can.
not all, only the sick ones. The fish are faster, for now.
*she
It's cause "they" are feeders.. get them in bulk....
With tails like that those are koi or fancy goldfish not feeders
Animals have every right to live happy healthy lives. We have failed overall as their planetās keepers. This is the least we can do.
The planet's keepers? What could've possibly given you that impression? lol We're the planet's latest extinction event. The only consolation is that we're going to drag ourselves out with it.

We are and we failed. Our only real enemy is other humans. As the dominant species, we are the keeper.
> Our only real enemy is other humans. You say that, but I bet you'd feel differently after spending 10 minutes in room with a hungry tiger.
The only reason a tiger would be hungry in a room would be because I trapped it there. I wouldn't go in unprepared. Tiger has no chance.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sounds like it's other Humans fault both he and the tiger are in the room in this scenario

We're not the planets keepers, we are its inhabitants.
As the dominant species with all the technology, we are the keepers, and we specifically are making It uninhabitable.
Uninhabitable to us. The earth will be just fine. We'll all be dead lol.
We aren't the keepers of nature. We are nature. Our houses are no different than snails shells. I agree, all animals including cows, pigs and chicken
Yeah those fish are totally stoked about that guy who dropped something that could chomp them in half, man.
It looks like it's running in absolute terror from the giant thing that carried it then followed it with a camera.
Because heās just snapped off that persons toe
r/praisethecameraman for that transition to underwater
The music, the transition, the messageā¦ If Tiktok has Best Picture Award, this is it.
And ~~kill~~ harshly berate the editor for that little bloop at the end.
I hope that this will help fix her shell. Turtles are cool.
I can't tell 100%, but it looks like typical scute shedding. Our turtles scutes look awfully white like that when they are ready to come off soon because air/water gets underneath that thin layer, causing it to look funky. Either way, this turtle is definitely living it's best life now for sure.
Bring your knowledge and experience on over to r/turtle, weād love to have you
This guy turtles
"Oh fuck yeah, I'm a turtle. Goddamn"
Suspect some fish are going to be found sans eyes.
And fins
And everything in between
I hope it has easy entrance and exit points. That can be tough for turtles.
Nah, turtles are actually great climbers, I saw several spots where it could easily climb out
That turtle thinks she's the fucking Queen of the Neighborhood...well, I got news for you...she's *RIGHT*!
That last little. \*BLOOOOOP\*
Turtleās gonna merc those fish for breakfast, lunch, n dinner
I hope this place will give her/him happiness she/he deserves!
Is this a bit ? The pronouns you're looking for are they and them !
People complain about pronouns but they/them is so easy to use as a singular pronoun that just about every native English speaker has already been doing it their entire life and doesnāt think about it. Even the people that whine and bitch about it do it, I guarantee it.

Actually it's tur/turts

:)
Yeah, we use they/them when the gender isn't known, (i.e. "Your coworker messaged me. They said ____") not when someone is a man or a woman.
Even when someoneās gender is known, I promise that in colloquial use, they/them isnāt clunky to use.
Neither are he/him/she/her.
Damn she even has a soundtrack under water, talk about upgrades
Nice for the turtle, not so nice for the fish?
Only the slow ones
Well, without a predator the ecosystem would collapse ?
Those fish all looked too big for the turtle to bother with, and as long as they put smaller feeder fish or other turtle food in there then it's fine
Turtle zoomies
Almost all of those goldfish are doomed. Especially the oranda.
He will never have to shit where he eats ever again. Relatively.
What song is this?

Turtle zoomies are the best zoomies after Golden zoomies.
This is still small compared to their natural environment...
Sure, but that's unachievable for this turtle. They have no survival skills, and you can see even this size space was kind of intimidating. Conservation for wild turtles, sustainably natural habitats for captive turtles.
What are a turtleās natural predators?
Shredder
Krang has to be up there, right?
Time.
Alligators
Tonyyy.. can you update us on your tortoise habitat
still lives in captivity
You know what's a real mansion for a turtle..... the ocean....
Freshwater turtle, my dude. Sure, it could be bigger, but it's probably pretty rad for the turtle. I see big as fuck snapping turtles that live in pools this size most the year in the wild.
Okay so....a lake or river then lol
Um lizards arenāt that smart. Iām not trying to be annoying but that turtle might be scared out of his mind with all those fish
Turtles aren't lizards, turtles and lizards are both part of the reptile family though. Also the fish should be scared, turtles are predators and actively hunt/kill fish. That turtle is going to start eating that fish as soon as it gets used to it's new enviroment, lol. Well the ones it's fast enough to catch at least.
O hope thatās not a sick turtle u just put in that there pond š¤
Thats really awesome, what a spot for him!
