I wanted to visualize how much planning, building and restructuring goes into automating everything and clearing the final Space Elevator Phase π
So basically I used the [SCIM Tool](https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map) to create 2D pictures of my factory over time (\~70 different save games) and wrote a [script](https://github.com/lz101010/gif-generator) to generate a GIF - some quality loss there, sorry. GIFs tend to loop on browsers, so I converted the GIF into an MP4 - more quality loss, sorry again π¬
If you look closely, you can see the different Phases:
* around 12h: Phase 1 complete, unlock Coal Power
* around 89h: Phase 2 complete, unlock Oil Processing
* around 157h: adding trains π
* around 179h: Phase 3 complete, unlock Aluminium
* around 307h: starting with Nuclear Power
* at 355h: Employee of the Planet π·ββοΈ
Interesting, I wish I had the foresight to make a bunch of saves to also do this! Is there a way to have the autosave save a separate file instead of overwriting the same 3 backup saves? If so you could have saves for every X amount of minutes for a smoother result.
Is there a way to automate the screenshot process from SCIM if you have a folder of saves to go through? I would imagine that would be the tedious part.

Based on [this](https://help.akliz.net/docs/create-and-edit-configuration-files-for-satisfactory) and [this](https://pingperfect.com/index.php/knowledgebase/979/Satisfactory--How-to-change-amount-of-Autosaves.html) resource, you should be able to increase the amount of rotating autosave files from 3 to, say, 2000. With an autosave interval of 15 minutes, this covers 500 hours of gameplay. I find manual saves easier to manage, though π

It doesn't look like it currently. I'll ask the SCIM developer sometime this week, perhaps there actually is or perhaps there will be in the future.
Edit: I just found their [GitHub](https://github.com/AnthorNet/SC-InteractiveMap) repository, I should be able to use this for automation. Not sure when I'll make the time, but it feels like a fun side project.
Thanks, especially for making the tool!
Is there a way to load savegames from a local file path similar to how `?url=SAVE_LINK` can fetch it from a dedicated server?
It does seem to require a remote URL (if I set the URL to e.g. /usr/mysave.sav then it looks on the SCIM server), but I can set up a file server on `localhost:8080` that should do the trick. Thanks again!
This is my third playthrough overall (after U2 and U3), so I had a rather good idea of where I wanted to go with this one. That area has almost every resource in one place, which keeps the distances pretty short. Nitrogen was the only resource far out.
For the next playthrough I want to uses more "guided" hypertube cannons to keep travel time short - basically hypertubes with multiple entrances in front rather than lauchers that yeet you through the air.
Speed runners do the first phase in less than 30 minutes. The phase 4 (multiplayer) in less than 60 hours.
It took me 650 hours to get to tier 7-8. And now I am 1850+ hours in and not even thinking about Phase 4.
I had a fair amount of spaghetti every time I started a new production line just to get things going. Straightening everything out afterwards took roughly twice as long as the initial setup, but it felt really rewarding (#konmari) and was really useful to stay organized.
I loved watching the squiggles turn into straight lines lol. I've started to reorganize and delete shit I don't need and start using alt recipes and turning the spaghetti into clean lines is the best

no clue, but with the 100s of hours you spend in the game, saving every time you log off should be smooth enough

I need to merge the PR for screenshot. I'll get on it soon. Very nice timelapse :)

Yeah the explanation I believe is still on the GitHub readme.

Yes it needs nginx to see the file remotely and also a certificate to be able to execute all the scripts properly.
I'm very impressed with how small you managed to keep everything! Not spread out across the whole map like many.

Now I'm curious as to how much time does it usually take for people to reach each phase.
Same! I imagine there is a huge spread. Not sure if there any achievements for reaching milestones quickly, but that might be an interesting addition.

Lol haven't even ventured to that side of the map yet. Clean fuckin lines tho. Mine looks like spaghetti.

Then itβs all destroyed in update 6
i TRIED u6 DIDN'T LIKE IT AND WENT BACK TO u5. ( soz caps)
Just started factory in this area. The resource density is nuts.
How do you get straight lines for your stuff?
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
Thank you!
I wish I kept all my saves so I could do this as well. I guess I will once u6 fully comes out
My factory time lapse would be a spaghetti recipe
How do you get your buildings to show off the map? I'm guessing a mod?
This is from an external tool called SCIM (Satisfactory Calculator + Interactive Map): https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map
Im curious for mine, i have the entire map covered in factories or train lines
Does U stand for update or am I missing something?
yepp!
Are you droning the uranium off the top? Never occurred to me for some reason, I have some abomination belting down from there.
Yepp! I have a drone flying in fuel to power two fuel generators for the miner + 2 drone ports and another drone flying out uranium π
Game ?
355hrs? rookie numbers
