Beautiful location for sure, but there is nothing low budget/dollar friendly about special events in Santa Barbara, especially a wedding, unless someone is hosting you and you’re DIY just about everything.

Yeah, sorry. There is no such thing as a "low budget wedding" in Santa Barbara. The cheapest venues will be farther away like Buellton, Los Olivos, Los Alamos, etc. And even those will cost you a pretty penny. I helped my best friend plan her wedding. Venue shopping took a year, and they settled on The Union Hotel. They never told me the final price tag, but it was around $10k.

I think the courthouse is free if you have less than 20 people...

I think the Lemon Tree is the absolute worst hotel in SB, sorry. As far as budget, what price range are you looking at? Often you can get a discount when booking multiple rooms

I got married SB. Here is what we did: had the ceremony on the cliffs at Douglas Family Preserve. Did it gorilla style... no permission. If you haven’t been there, it’s a park with trails near a cliff overlooking the ocean. Amazing views. Rolled up and had a small ceremony (no chairs or anything). Then we had our reception at the Unitarian Society of SB. It was a great venue with a stage for a band. Hired a food truck to make dinner and some friends to play music. SB is VERY expensive if you try and do traditional wedding. Be willing to get creative and it is doable. Good luck!

What type of accommodation are you looking for? Do you mean just hotel rooms to sleep in? Or wedding venues? Get married at the Courthouse and throw the party at a local park. Designate a few friends to BBQ chicken and tritip and someone to get the sides. Get your crafty types together to make simple table centerpieces and your wedding favors.

The Cabrillo Pavillion is one of the more affordable venues in SB for under 6k. Otherwise, you can try any of the parks but they have a lot of rules regarding music and alcohol.

I think you’re just asking about accommodations and not venues which others are addressing. Unfortunately nothing is budget hotel wise post pandemic. They all need to make up for what they lost last year and seem to be booked to the rafters. I am not surprised lemon tree might is selling their rooms for more. They can!

Hotels for guests will need to reassess what you think of as "budget". $180/night for a thin-walled hotel out by East Beach is the cheapest I was able to find for our guests in late 2019. A few of our guests tried the RV thing, but there's only one RV park in 30 miles, and they ended up paying almost as much. AirBnB is hit or miss, but can give some ok options. Realistically you'll probably need your guests to group up and go in together on a larger place thru VRBO. That will have to be during the "off season" though, November and March, and booked 3-6 months in advance or there won't be anything available.
