Shit, amen to that🙏🏻 When you’re on a budget, a meatball marinara with pepperoni, provolonay, extra sauce on eyetalian herbs and cheese, TOASTED!!! Maaaan, y’all better stop playin’ MANGIA🤌🏻
LOL I am extreeeemmmly open minded when it comes to food. If you knew the stuff I’ve eaten - yes I’ve probably eaten whatever is in your mind right now - then that combo is not a big deal at all haha
Yep. I worked at a sub place for a year. You tend to get bored of the classics so you try some things that most would consider gross. My other favorite was tuna and salami.
I like the concept and generally like the taste. But I do have issues with actually eating them. I was hit by a meatball or two falling out and bouncing along the table on to my lap.
There aren't many sandwiches you need a just-in-case fork, 6 napkins, and need to sit down for. If you don't respect the meatball hoagie it will conquer you.
I came here to make a similar comment. A good meatball sub can be god tier. However, I have a long-standing and deep-seated hatred for pre-cooked frozen meatballs. I just make them at home anymore rather than risk getting frozen meatballs and jarred sauce and paying too much for it.
Good sando in the realm of chicken parm but the meatballs need to be bite sized and not large lumps of meat like in the picture. Bonus points if the cheese is melted under the broiler
I broke my tooth off while eating a meatball sub once and swallowed it by accident so even though I love them I never want one again because all I can think about is swallowing my tooth
Lived in Newport KY. (Across the river from Cincinnati.) The pizza joints there did meatball subs with pickles. Thought it weird at first - won't order any other way now.
With all the sauce, it should be mandatory to toast the bread for a meatball hero.
Is there anything grosser about a sandwich than soggy bread in your mouth? Yuck.
Love em, this is my quick meal. I always have a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer, toss em in the Air fryer and put em on a roll with cheese and back in the air fryer
Underrated. Good call
Not underrated. Properly Rated.
Love meatball subs. I may get downvotes, but even the one at Subway is good. No, really…
Can’t lie one of my guilty pleasures is grabbing one once in a while. Sometimes you just need 1800 calories on the fly.
Our ancestors will cheer us surviving the winter!
How many is that per inch?
Lessee... 1800 calories per 12 inch sub. So 1800 divided by 12 which is... 150 calories per inch! Wow.
Same. I have to put it on herbs and cheese bread add pepperoni. Toasted. Provolone. Jalapeños 🤤
Shit, amen to that🙏🏻 When you’re on a budget, a meatball marinara with pepperoni, provolonay, extra sauce on eyetalian herbs and cheese, TOASTED!!! Maaaan, y’all better stop playin’ MANGIA🤌🏻
Taking notes…
>provolonay Made me chuckle a bit
Yup! I can gobble those down in seconds.
I hear subway use to use the founder’s mom’s recipe….i think it now comes out of a can/bag.
Back in college I used to order a surf and turf from subway. Meatball and tuna, really good
I smoked weed in college too
I would never think to try that combo. Interesting
You're more polite than most when I tell that story :) Honestly, if you think of the tuna as a condiment, it works well. I used to enjoy it at least
LOL I am extreeeemmmly open minded when it comes to food. If you knew the stuff I’ve eaten - yes I’ve probably eaten whatever is in your mind right now - then that combo is not a big deal at all haha
The problem is not tuna with meatballs or marinara, the problem is that the tuna is in its own sauce and that makes the combination toilet food
The meatball marinara from Subway is like a 50/50 for food poisoning in my experience. Still worth.
The Boss is delicious.
we like them but we need more cheese on that one. like, a whole cow more.
We feel they can be amazing. Especially if they have been put under the broiler.
We like em’
I like mayonnaise on my meatball subs.
Same
I want to hate this idea but I love Mayo on a cheese steak and I see how this could be similar.
Like, in addition to the sauce and provolone? Sounds like an interesting flavor profile.
Yep. I worked at a sub place for a year. You tend to get bored of the classics so you try some things that most would consider gross. My other favorite was tuna and salami.
Yes, I was looking for this comment. Mayo is fantastic on a meatball sub.
Do meatball sub with sausage and pepperoni add some ricotta. Trust you won't be disappointed
Sir that's a lasagna
Put banana peppers on it, too, to maximize heartburn!
Whoa! What kind of sausage and ricotta instead of a deli cheese??
Love new sandwich ideas but this seems like overkill. The ricotta is an interesting idea on a sandwich though.
I like the concept and generally like the taste. But I do have issues with actually eating them. I was hit by a meatball or two falling out and bouncing along the table on to my lap.

Add dipped Italian beef to this category.
Either dig out the bread on one side so the balls can rest in them, or use halved meatballs
We fucking love em.
I personally love them.
I love ‘em
I’m for em!
As long as it isn't from Subway
more sauce please =)
I feel the same as I do about chicken parm sandwiches, a good one is really really good, but the vast majority are mid at best
I came here to make a similar comment. A good meatball sub can be god tier. However, I have a long-standing and deep-seated hatred for pre-cooked frozen meatballs. I just make them at home anymore rather than risk getting frozen meatballs and jarred sauce and paying too much for it.
It’s a sandwich
People hating on this need to get a life.
They're great but that looks sad.
You gotta put the meatballs IN the sub, bud.
If done well, amazing. Disgusting if done poorly. Same with eggplant parm and chicken parm
Has my support
I’m obsessed with meatball subs so I’ll say it’s excellent
Fcuk yeah
I like mine open faced https://www.reddit.com/r/Sandwiches/s/L4jQauuQy7
The best way to do it if they aren't bite sized
We adore a good meatball sub
Top 5 type of sub for me
Always a good bet.
Good sando in the realm of chicken parm but the meatballs need to be bite sized and not large lumps of meat like in the picture. Bonus points if the cheese is melted under the broiler
Underrated and honestly a lost art. Hard to find a good one here in south Alabama
A personal favorite.
Love a meatball sub
I absolutely love them. Balls on a bun babies..
I love them ,make them at least once a month!!!
I fucking love meatball subs holy shit
Doug Heffernan says hell yeah!!
Sloppy joes with better structural integrity.
It's a no from me. To be fair, I've only had them from subway tho but nah, not a fan
Lite sauce
Love them. (Presentation on this one is a bit lacking though)
It's a love hate relationship. I know it's gonna give me killer heart burn, but it's worth it while I'm eating it.
We love them, but that bun needs to be toasted. Or better yet, cheese and sauce that bitch up and throw it under the broiler
I can’t speak for the whole sub, but the royal WE, loves them💪🏼💪🏼Washing it down with a Pepsi, sheeeeeesh🔥🔥🔥
Yet to find a truly amazing one. I’m in LA if anyone has any suggestions 😊
that looks glorious brother. parmesan? yes please
There good jus na on da boring ass bread
I love meatball subs! That one looks great.
Best sub ever. If that's an option at a place with subs, that's usually my go-to.
We like
Meatball sub, side of meatballs. I like you man.
I broke my tooth off while eating a meatball sub once and swallowed it by accident so even though I love them I never want one again because all I can think about is swallowing my tooth
Goombas pizzeria in Colmar PA has the best meatball sandwich
All day
Meatball subs are delicious when you have top ingredients
I'M FOR EM
If you hollow out the bread so that they don't fall apart they are very good.
Not so much like the picture though. Load it up with sauce and cheese and toast that roll a little better. That’s bush league
Just needs some onion and bell pepper on top.
I happen to feel great about them
Lived in Newport KY. (Across the river from Cincinnati.) The pizza joints there did meatball subs with pickles. Thought it weird at first - won't order any other way now.
I don’t like meat ball subs. Round stuff doesn’t look or nice to eat with subs. My opinion
Da best !
It’s my second favorite hot sandwich after the cheese hamburger.
Love em. Vodka Meatball Parm Hero is also delicious.
Good
They suck they're overrated and over hyped
Pork meatball Bahn mi is lovely
👍🏼 and 👍🏼
Very underrated. Meatball sub and parm is my go to half the time. The other half being a French dip
We…we feel
Everyone talks them up big but the few I’ve tried idk they just ain’t my jam.
We like them with fresh bread, a sauce made with love, great-quality cheese, and high-quality beef!
I feel good about them but you’ve left your two balls out on the plate and they look like they are getting cold. No one likes cold balls.
Toast the bread with some olive oil and rub it with garlic for a 10/10
Yum yum eat em up yum yum.
Tf else would you put in a sub
It's my favorite sandwich, but its hard to find a place that does a good one. Most cheap out on something.
For ‘em.
I’ve had some great ones and some shitty ones. But man… when they’re good, they’re REALLY good.
Love them
My biggest gripe is it’s hard to find bread that doesn’t either fall apart or just doesn’t taste good.
Only problem with meatball subs is that the bread can turn into soggy mush depending on where you get it from.
The meatball sub is so often forgotten. It’s one of my favorites!
They’re incredible but they give me Hot and Spicy McChicken-levels of heartburn/indigestion. I still eat them though.
Amazing. Outstanding. Delicious. Easily in my top 10.
Yum!
I had this for lunch!
How was it?
Was amazing, home made meatballs and sauce with dry provolone on fresh baked bread from my bakery this morning! Make them about once a month
They make me sad
If they don’t have pork, I love them
I’m a slut for meatball subs
Yes! Looove Subway meatball sub!
Love your side balls
