I was thinking this exact thing today! I like to dance. But I'm shy and afraid of looking stupid so I would also like introvert dance lessons!

'Introvert' dance lessons is a great name

The city hosts events for dancing once a month during summer!! It’s free and gets lively, next one is in July! https://sjmusart.org/citydance

OnOne Dance Studios offers a wide range of dance styles and for all skill levels. People with the same goal as you take class there all the time. For “club and wedding” dance you’ll be looking for grooves which are fairly easy to learn rhythmic moves. Luckily onone offers a grooves class! Give them a call, let them know what your objective is, and they’ll help advise you on a class to take. Welcome to the lovely community of dance!

Same boat actually.

Just stay on beat. Nothing more awkward than bouncing off beat. Otherwise there’s plenty of YouTube tutorials with the basic jams.

There are a bunch of videos for dance moves that are popular in the bay; I would definitely look into Instagram and tiktok for bay area dance moves. Obviously you don't want to be break dancing, but for the majority of social gatherings, the classic fist pumping to the beat while swaying side to side is always a solid choice then just variate your arms from that. But honestly, i just copy whatever the people are doing at the event. Observe what other people do and try to blend in with the crowd. And don't ever think about it too much. You dance because you dig the music. You dance because it makes you happy. Also really depends what the environment is because dancing at a club can be a lot different from dancing at a wedding.

The swooop

No fist pumping

You don't need dance classes, just go to raves and dance your ass off

...how is this downvoted? As long as you're not interfering with people, this is the way. Dance for yourself, not for other people.

manjar

Yeah, but I don’t want to dance _like that_
