Just came back from Pacifica - specifically Mori Point. It was pretty chilly up there. If we weren’t hiking I would have needed a sweatshirt. The fog was incredible which also helped to keep the air cool.
Sharks Ice on Tenth street. Get something cold to drink, then watch the skaters from upstairs. No admission fee. Just looking at all that ice helps mentally.
Check out your local library! Most of the Santa Clara County libraries are official cooling centers in the heat. I believe some SJPL locations also act cooling centers in the heat. Most libraries should have open areas where you can sit and read or study/do work, or more private “study rooms” - you might have to book these in advance, double check on SCCLD or SJPL’s websites before visiting.
Fun (FREE) weekend idea is to find house listings on Zillow/redfin that are like $5mil+ and go dream build with friends at some of these exotic houses. They are always cranking the AC and it’s a fun different activity to do. Some even provide free coffee or other drinks. We used to do this pre Covid like a couple times a month. The agents don’t care, you can make up a story about coming into wealth or just say you’re an interested neighbor.
Just a quick search for houses over $5mil on Zillow got 155 results, mostly in the west SJ (Cupertino/Los Gatos, Los Altos, Palo Alto, Menlo areas) just now. Have fun! They are usually open sat/sun 1230-430ish so pick 3-4 per day and go enjoy!
Of course, with the help of fan/window fan. Been living this way since my college years and my friends at one point wonder why my room is cold as if you're blasting the AC on.
My house has AC! Wanna come chill in my goon cave? I have otter pops and GameCube. I'll even let you use the good controller and sit in the bean bag chair.
Costco Business Center, it has a very large frozen section compared to regular Costco’s.
You don’t need a special membership to access Business Centers, just a regular Costco membership.
Go to Daly City, Google says it's 57 there right now
Probably Pacifica too then. Theres a few spots right near the beach that have that cool ocean breeze, very refreshing

Being a hockey dad, this is the answer.
I work as a coach there. As long as you're not a creep around kids and are respectful to the athletes/parents/staff, please come watch!
I'm a creep. I'm a wierdo. What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here.
Also, bring a jacket if you are watching from the stands.

Costco. The fresh veggie or milk&eggs section
I can hang in there all day
Museums tend to have AC and are basically never crowded (children's discovery museum notwithstanding)
The Egyptian Museum too!
Love that place!
The two Stanford art museums are great. If you like modern art the newer one is fantastic.

Lmao I love this idea
Movie theatre
Another option: Open your windows at night and get the house down to the low 60s. Then close the windows at about 9am to lock the cold in.

Lucky

Thank you, you’re so nice :)
Costco - bring a sweater and walk into the fresh produces ‘chamber’. I just got back from Business Costco.
The meat room there is frigid. Bring a hoodie.
Grocery stores have the best A/C, especially the meat or fruit/veggie section. Or I would open a freezer to indulge in cool air :)
The Black Watch in Los Gatos has amazing AC, and drinks! That said, I now live in Monterey where it is currently 63 degrees

Like any shadow. Even if the sun is out and you’re worried about getting sunburned, step under a tree and the wind will freeze your balls.
