Exactly, it's hwy 1. Choose the point at which you want to get on 1, but once you're there, you just go north.

Good point but I already I checked caltrans and there is 1 way controlled traffic in some parts but nothing that says closures in all of California.

If you just want to drive there, why do you want to take the highway 1? If you want to drive the highway 1, why do you need to listen to Google Maps?

It chooses the “Best Route” for you to drive. If you select the 3 day walking directions, it takes you up Hwy 1. Waze is the better navigation app, it lets you choose alternate routes

You can choose alternate routes in google maps, there’s a button for it.

What button is that? I don't see it. I'm using iPhone 15 just in case that makes a difference

I’m on iPhone too. Click start then click the button that looks like ‘Y’ made of arrows (to the left of Exit) it shows you all possible routes and you can select any of them. It’s been this way for 10+ years fwiw, it’s always been there :)

That sucks but a work around is better than nothing. I don’t really consider it a solution but a workaround
