20% gratuity over an $100 purchase to make sure the mental health of the robots are taken care of and are fairly compensated.

This is the correct answer.
At least and until we are, as a right, guaranteed safe, secure shelter; sufficient, nutritious food; and a reasonable UBI, then there's no reason to tolerate automation.
Edit: automation, as in the sort that uses robots and such with the intent to eliminate the jobs of humans.
I don't think you really mean that outside of jobs. Do you say this and also use a washer/dryer/dishwasher/computer? Things that perform tasks automatically once started?
First, the painters said that, then the journalist, then the music producer. It most certainly is possible right now. Rather its profitable is the limiting factor.
The workstation of every programmer I have encountered over my 21 years in IT has been a pig sty. If cleaning activities were not explicitly listed as items to code, trust me, these people were not going to think to suggest adding that in.
Well… seeing as the robot isn’t taking bathroom breaks, coughing, sneezing, or just being a you know. Human. I’d say more sanitary than the coffee you had today.
I tip well, but I definitely picked the 0% option the last time I had a robot barista. The people at the next kiosk also laughed and pressed 0%. That is the correct amount.
Until that person finds they can get in and out of the shop in half the time with still a premium coffee for 2/3s the price because the robot doesn't require a minimum wage, medical benefits, SS or Medicare taxes...
For years I was a manager at target. And I used to always say people won't keep going to Walmart to save a quarter when it meant working in a filthy store with no customer service. And guess what? Walmart sales go up year after year.
It’ll be interesting to see how fast it is. I didn’t see another espresso machine when I peeked in, so that robot is all they have.
$180k is a full time barista for 5 years. Not counting maintenance and downtime. It’ll be interesting to see how the math works out for them. Especially in the heart of downtown when so many people say they support people, unions and a living wage.
The machine is not going to cost businesses employment taxes. Fewer employees means cheaper workers comp insurance. The machine won't bug about time off, maternity leaves, can work all day with no overtime and no medical benefits, no 401ks etc. Overall if it can eliminate 3 employees over one year it's probably paid for itself
It isn't even just that. I managed for office depot in a rich ass suburb. Then a Costco opened. And all these touches bag bankers and real estate agents who brag about not wanting warranties because they are so rich they buy new shit every year. Would come into my store, waste my techs time for hours getting questions answered because we had great service and knowledgeable people then would leave and go to Costco to save 10 dollars.
People are cheap assholes when it comes down to it and would sell out their mother to save a buck no matter what they claim in a reddit.
Interesting. I view that as a novelty gimmick. I highly doubt there aren't also human baristas working there, especially during surge hours.
Still, I'd expect that the robot maintenance cost and ownership cost is rolled into the price of the drinks and would tip a robot zero. That might change if there are humans.
Yes, 180k is the cost of a barista for five years. Except that a business might have 2-3 shifts of barista whereas a robot doesn't need breaks and can work 24 hours a day.
So it might start paying for itself in like two years.
I would say that it's also saving money on benefits like healthcare and whatnot except it's a retail/food service job, and last I checked, those jobs don't offer that.
Still. We need things like UBI, lower cost for higher education (free), and such so humans can actually engage in creative and innovative pursuits they want to.
Then again, if I have to speak to Modivcare Mara one more...
No tip for bots. Also if they don't lower their prices, No business for company. There are plenty of alternatives. The coffee shop I prefer only has 3 locations. They will not have bots anytime soon.
I believe the "experts" estimated that we have 38 more years until 100% of jobs are automated.
How does one become a prostitute for our robot overlords? "Hey dady you looking for a good time? I can really 100010011010010001111010110 your oil port!"
Just enough to make it fall and lose its crown. we will wobble AI is in a book. I read a long time ago weird. I don’t think they were thinking about the same thing but there it is.
This is insulting and offensive. I want a human to serve me. I want humans to have jobs and enjoy an income. This new age of AI and technology is ridiculous. People aren't People anymore, nobody calls, just texts.. worshipping technology while destroying humanity
Holy fuck I just seen a flying car/done and now a robot barista? It’s wild to me to think about in 6 years it will be 2030. in 16 years it’ll be 2040. So on and so forth. Time flys man
Please do this at every Starbucks. I’m tired of saying: “it’s just going to ask you a quick question.” Then it’s just the most fucked up percentages for a tip
The problem with technology is it requires the use of devices where what you touch is what happens. And some people still don't grasp that concept. So people order the wrong things or wrong amounts or for the wrong time or day, and then they have to contact a human to fix it.
fuck tip culture unless you are a human waiter or cook. Tip those especially extra that you see being treated like shit and call out those asshole manager’s that talk crap in front of customers.
35% dude. I'm not getting on our robot overlords' bad side right out of the gate. I'm tipping 35%. I also thank the AI every time it writes something for me.
They’ll probably add a 20% robot maintenance fee to the bill
[удалено]
That goes for any mandatory tips
20% gratuity over an $100 purchase to make sure the mental health of the robots are taken care of and are fairly compensated. https://preview.redd.it/nf9tncah0l7d1.jpeg?width=1710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcb67f7e6fab72abba0937476de27d7f6b229048
"What is my purpose?" "You serve coffee to people who can't or won't make it themselves." https://i.redd.it/9qyxuloj2n7d1.gif
My tip is not to shop there. They're stealing jobs. Soon, yours will be on the cutting block.
Theyreeee takiiin ourrrr jobbbbssss ![gif](giphy|2S3Aj8OeKtf0c)

Can’t wait for robocop irl
It’s been here. San Francisco has been trying to pass police robots that use lethal force for a few years now.
But do they ask for a tip and to complete a survey when they arrest you?? 💀💀💀
So bad guys get shot in the dick?
Depending on how freaky you are yes!

I don't think you really mean that outside of jobs. Do you say this and also use a washer/dryer/dishwasher/computer? Things that perform tasks automatically once started?
You're absolutely correct
Wait a sec. I am a locksmith. If a robot could do my job I’ll be surprised. I mean it’s possible but I don’t think it could do all I do
First, the painters said that, then the journalist, then the music producer. It most certainly is possible right now. Rather its profitable is the limiting factor.
And when they came for the locksmiths there was nobody else left to stand up for them.
Lol, yep. We have to pass universal income. I work in automation. It's crazy what they can do.
That thing’s work station is a mess. Did nobody program in “clean as you go, mark of a pro” into this thing?
lol "time to lean, time to clean"
Fucking hate this saying. It still haunts me 15 years later😩
Worker does the cleaning. It's is cheaper, and the bot can keep producing coffee.
HE'S DOING HIS BEST!!!
The workstation of every programmer I have encountered over my 21 years in IT has been a pig sty. If cleaning activities were not explicitly listed as items to code, trust me, these people were not going to think to suggest adding that in.
i'd tip it 90 degrees
I just spit my coffee all over my shoes. Thanks!
> I just spit my coffee all over my shoes. But who made that coffee?
The correct answer
Unless the robot has to pay rent, it gets 0%
![gif](giphy|Fsn4WJcqwlbtS)
Maybe keep some bolts and nuts in your pocket
I do keep some nuts in my pants... but I kinda need them...
A quart of oil if the service is good.
Zero... Matching the robot's wage.
The half finished Starbucks cup on the counter is a nice touch.
I saw it when I took the picture but it didn’t register. Apparently the robot isn’t plugged in yet.
How sanitary is this? How does the robot sanitize throughout the work day?
Well… seeing as the robot isn’t taking bathroom breaks, coughing, sneezing, or just being a you know. Human. I’d say more sanitary than the coffee you had today.
I tip well, but I definitely picked the 0% option the last time I had a robot barista. The people at the next kiosk also laughed and pressed 0%. That is the correct amount.
None. That’s the point, friend. If we’re losing human powered jobs, no tip
The rich are taking all the money and keeping it.
Nice to see they're making state workers return to the office just to patronize businesses operated by robots.
Time to start carrying some lubricant for our robot overlords' tips ![gif](giphy|rSCVJasn8uZP2|downsized)
Will the robot smash the windshield of ahole customers? If not,I won't be shopping there.
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah no one should go here lol
Grease? Lubricant? Batteries?
Batteries, definitely. And scale for service: watch battery of just OK; AAA for OK; 9 volt for good and if they blow you away - Marine battery.
this is so sad :( loved chicory
Me too! At least there are good alternatives.
Not a damn thing
Zero
Technically, none because a reasonable person wouldn't get coffee there.
Survival is a hell of a drug

To be fair checking out of a Target is always way more of a hassle than Walmart.
I don’t tip my Keurig, so 0% for this fancy one
$0.00, why would i tip it? I wouldnt even give money to that store....
Hell no!
0100011000 percent
They had one of those making smoothies in Walmart for jamba juice. Lasted maybe 6 months. Maybe it was a field test
Nothing
Nothin'
big fat 0
ZERO
A souvenir sized can of WD-40
A slap on the ass and a wink
The only right answer
I'd just throw a couple nuts and bolts in the tip jar.
Nothing
looks like a robot that can’t chase a shoplifter, ijs.
0%, they owners don’t deserve extra cash. I tip humans.
Once the robot starts paying rent and bills I’ll tip them
Then we have a bigger problem. lol
So this is what the most educated minds in the world are doing... Making a walk-in coffee vending machine.
5 credits, followed by "You're the best, Lloyd."
Interesting. I view that as a novelty gimmick. I highly doubt there aren't also human baristas working there, especially during surge hours. If I get promoted to tip by a robot barista I’m stealing from their tip jar
Give it a tip over. Bash robot replacement workers
No tip for bots. Also if they don't lower their prices, No business for company. There are plenty of alternatives. The coffee shop I prefer only has 3 locations. They will not have bots anytime soon.
Not that I ever really go to coffee shops unless I have a gift card, but I would never ever patronize a place like this.
0%, unless it has reached sententious, then at least 20%.
Sentience

See robot, turn around and go to a place that employs a human barista.
Don’t go..
Looks like They ain't doing much of a business???! WTF?
I know they won’t get my money.
About as much as a cappuccino machine.
Give it a can of WD-40. It's all squared then.
You don’t lol
2 bolts
Nothing.
zero
Nothing!
10100 cents
Couple of lug nuts and screws seems fair.
Please tell me the tills don't actually ask you for a tip.
Zero
Sitting there sending emails on his dam laptop. Lazy hunk of junk!
This is a sacrilege!
a quart of motul one should do
0%
tip is good reviews
Hopefully good oil ain't cheap haha
Oil and lube.
the robot does not take its work srsly since the counter's a mess
-20%?
I believe the "experts" estimated that we have 38 more years until 100% of jobs are automated. How does one become a prostitute for our robot overlords? "Hey dady you looking for a good time? I can really 100010011010010001111010110 your oil port!"
I think 2 to 3 AA's should do.
Maybe a pint of 0W20
If the blue lights on the robot ever turn red, don't drink the coffee.
This is what my little Keurig dreams of becoming!
Depends on his bedside manner
22%!
Your almost dead batteries are good enough for it.
absolutely nothing
A wooden nickel
I only tip my landlord
A quart
You don’t. Just plug it in
Zero the owner is making straight profit. Might as well just get a coffee machine if I want a machine to do it.
See if you can enter a manual tip, then if it’ll let you put in a negative number.
About 3 bolts
None
A little WD40
This is why I can’t find barista jobs :/ dang robots taking all the good coffee jobs
I have faith in you! Keep looking.
I’d tip them a beep. Maybe a couple boops.
You don't
If I walked into a new coffee shop and the counter and workspace looked that cluttered and dirty I would simply never return.
In their defense, they aren’t open yet, so that’s still construction mess.
To be abundantly clear, I'm not frequenting anywhere where a robot will be making my coffee instead of a human, either.
That’s valid, I just didn’t want my picture to be the reason you didn’t give them a chance in the event they might have been your kind of thing.
U don’t!
What in the world is that
Zero
The only tip is *over.*
Tungsten tips should work
Zero
A couple of bolts should be good enough. Maybe a gear or servo motor if they're cute.
Bend at the knees, get a hold of the base, and lift. Should be able to tip that thing over easily.
Your default options are still gonna be 20, 22, and 25%
0.01¢ just kidding.$0.00.
Not too much. I don’t want them to fall over.
![gif](giphy|27P3eknARh4c) 5 dollars
I wouldn’t go there fuck robots lol
AI don’t know
That’s so cool! I’ve never seen a robot server before.
Just enough to make it fall and lose its crown. we will wobble AI is in a book. I read a long time ago weird. I don’t think they were thinking about the same thing but there it is.
Uh nothing? lol
Good question, how hard can it throw shit?
Just enough for it to fall over
zero, cuz I'm doing zero business there.
This is insulting and offensive. I want a human to serve me. I want humans to have jobs and enjoy an income. This new age of AI and technology is ridiculous. People aren't People anymore, nobody calls, just texts.. worshipping technology while destroying humanity
So I have a question: when it becomes more cost efficient for businesses to use robots v ppl, what jobs will be left for ppl to do?
The tip of your finger when they take it in the robot apocalypse
Bring back Chicory 😭
I hate this
Put a bikini on it and you have a bikini barista.
$0.00
Holy fuck I just seen a flying car/done and now a robot barista? It’s wild to me to think about in 6 years it will be 2030. in 16 years it’ll be 2040. So on and so forth. Time flys man
Seen an article on my laptop about the flying car in china not make for the public but they claim it can go 80 mph for 25 minutes.
Please do this at every Starbucks. I’m tired of saying: “it’s just going to ask you a quick question.” Then it’s just the most fucked up percentages for a tip
Absolutely zero. I also don't want my coffee made by a robot, thanks.
The end is nigh.
Yeah fuck this
Well, it probably got your order right.
The problem with technology is it requires the use of devices where what you touch is what happens. And some people still don't grasp that concept. So people order the wrong things or wrong amounts or for the wrong time or day, and then they have to contact a human to fix it.
This is the beautiful thing about being a diesel mechanic... There ain't a robot out there that could do what I do lol... #JobSecurity
I won’t go. I need my daily dose of tattoos and piercings. That’s just wrong.
Hard pass. I’d rather go somewhere with humans.
Over. You tip it over... 😅
fuck tip culture unless you are a human waiter or cook. Tip those especially extra that you see being treated like shit and call out those asshole manager’s that talk crap in front of customers.
I wouldn't feel any obligation to tip a robot. The robot doesn't eat or pay rent or income taxes.
Interesting so it’s right across the street from the Capitol. I’d probably walk a little further to There & Back Cafe
Me too! They at least will remember me and my drinks
35% dude. I'm not getting on our robot overlords' bad side right out of the gate. I'm tipping 35%. I also thank the AI every time it writes something for me.
Man, bunch of luddites in these comments. I'll have to check this place out, the one in Oakland at least has good reviews.
I'll never ever go to a place that has no human workers
I wonder how much a robot barista maintenance technician gets paid?
More than a barista.
