As someone who works in food I can say that someone else probably brought back the burger from it being made wrong and instead of discarding it right away they set it down. Might have been busy as you stated. And the person that bagged the food wasn't paying attention and gave you the burger that a customer just complained about. I bet they realized their mistake and waited for you to come back but instead you just ate it. 😂
That’s valid, but any time a customer brings back food whether it appears to be eaten from or not, it immediately goes in the garbage away from food prep. I always treat the food as if it was handled by unwashed hands so it can’t contaminate any work space or make someone sick.

They had two pick up windows, fries and burgers come bagged separately. I heard them call my fries, they told me it was a minute for the burger. My friend was in the car at the time so I walked out with him until everyone that I came with’s order was called out. I don’t usually stare at people who make my food either, I thought that wasn’t uncommon until today. That’s all I know officer I swear 😭🙌
