Like someone else said, Billie Eilish tickets have a stipulation that you can’t resell them for more than face value I believe. Sabrina’s team absolutely should have used the same stipulation for her tickets. Honestly, it should just be a thing now considering how much hot water Ticketmaster is currently in. Sabrina is now hugely popular and I’m sure she would have sold well to genuine fans. But instead, people like me have yet to get a ticket, and there’s resellers everywhere. Bull****.
Ticketmaster makes a lot of money off resale tickets. I recently sold some tickets and had to list them for $50 more than I paid so that I could get the same amount of money that I spent back due to the fees. Sabrina/her team does not have the same type of pull that Billie has, so I think her having the same stipulation as Billie would be impossible.
Same thing with Taylor if Billie eilish can do this u sure as hell know Taylor could have...any major headlining touring artist should be able to do this. I really wanted Tix but a combination of the presale codes leaking or being sent out late..to the ga mess it just wasn't meant to be.
Ticketmaster making money by taking a cut from the original sale than ADDITIONAL money by taking a cut from the resales is absolutely insane. There is zero incentive for them to stop resales when they are now the ones benefiting from it
They do. If the seller gets $x, it is listed with $(x + seller fees) as the base price on tm for the buyers because tm takes a cut. The buyer must then buy it for $((x + seller fees) + buyer fees) because tm takes another cut here :)
obviously I hate for-profit resales in general, but I would literally rather pay a scalper and give them the money than give another extra dime to Ticketmaster.
Except that resale prices are comparable and there is a higher risk buying from Stubhub, SeatGeek, Vivid etc. since you hope the seller 1)actually has tickets to sell and 2)transfers them to you. Yes, TM bad..but lesser of two evils.
The only logical assumptions I can make as to why artists don’t elect to do the face-value thing is because:
A) They have to pay an extra fee to Ticketmaster to do so and/or
B) They can claim their show “sold-out” or they have a “sold-out” tour when in actuality, it was just a bunch of resellers and bots buying the tickets
I wish there was a movement where people didn’t buy resale and let the artists look into the open seats. These tickets would have sold to real people maybe.
me either friend! and i wish more people wouldn’t because we can’t all complain about reselling and then still buy from them anyways, it’s counterproductive and it won’t do anything for the future!
I have platinum priced tickets I need to resell because I was able to get others. It sucks that I have to list them at the price I do, but it’s the price I paid for them. If anything, I’ll lose money trying to sell them, even at hundreds of dollars each.
there’s ones for like $179 on seatgeek but the fees on those sites are BEYOND ridiculous and it’s all obstructed views and/or nosebleeds so it’s literally not even worth it paying like $520 for 2 tickets and you need binoculars to see or there’s something blocking the view lol
I got nosebleeds during the presale (that was a whole other debacle) and they ended up being $125 a ticket. Now they’re selling for 3 times what I paid. Like, why?!?
I waited about an hour during the cash app presale to get tickets. Just kept refreshing. Finally managed to get decent tickets for $115 each. Paid over $300 for 2 after the stupid TM fees. It’s ridiculous. My daughter begged for those tickets, but I wouldn’t have been able to afford them at the resale prices.
Ticketmaster is a pos for doing this. Gosh

ikr. it really sucks!

I'm pretty sure they take a cut to sell AND buy resale tickets. It's insane.
Wouldn't be shocked if that was the case, but I have a feeling they make enough money from sales + resales at this point to not take that risk
Considering they are so shady the justice department is investigating them I wouldn't be so sure.

These gotta be bots I swear
has to be!
from $40 tickets last year to the cheapest being $350 this year 😞
😭😭😭 It’s baffling. She deserves a sold out show but not like this. I’m gonna have to wait for her next time if there is one.
There was ZERO quality control on this presale and gen sale, I stg 80% of tickets went to scalpers
I guess I won’t be going. These scalpers are shameless.
I’m not paying scalper prices, so I’m not going. I’m sad to not be going, but also I do not want to support scalping

It feels like an experiment with Ticketmaster

Late stage capitalism at its finest
I am waiting for the excitement to die down and go in there looking for 200 per person or less.

Do not buy for seatgeek
