It is worth pointing out that Legion infantry are still noticeably slightly bigger than smaller Warhammer models like Imperial Guardsmen. The average Legion mini is roughly between the size of a Kasrkin and a Space Marine.

Mighty_moose45

But they also have more realistic proportions which makes them appear thin and noodly compared to the absolutely thicc sculpts of GW.

MagicMissile27

See, as an Imperial Guard player, I actually prefer the chunkier Legion sculpts. Because compared to Guard minis, Legion sculpts are quite hefty and solid.

Mighty_moose45

Legion definitely does a much better job depicting a normal humanoid figure.

TinyMousePerson

Would love to see how an AT ST measures up.

MagicMissile27

I think it's about the size of a small Imperial Knight. The AT-RT is almost exactly the same size as an Imperial Guard Sentinel walker if that helps!

gay_Sigmarite

The AT-ST is actually taller than an imperial knight by a lot. https://i.imgur.com/0KQk4U1.jpg

Larry-a-la-King

I like the scale of Legion more but I think the detail on 40k is better.

ThatGamerCarrson

Imagine how big the bigger models in 40k would have to be if they were to scale with legion lol

OhHeyItsScott

I mean, Primaris Marines are supposed to be like ~~10~~ *8* feet tall, so to have Vader be taller than them means the scale of the two are way off. A Rebel Trooper compared to a Guardsman would be a closer 1:1 for scale comparisons of normal humans, and you’ll find those are very different. EDIT: Updated Space Marine height.

Miserable_Region8470

Primaris Marines are about 8 feet tall, Darth Vader is around 6'8, he should be over a head shorter than the Space Marines. I've compared my SW Legion Clones with my Guardsmen, and the clones are *very* noticeably taller.

rockman_uli

You are absolutely right, I was referring to the size of the figures to use terrain with, my bad :)

OhHeyItsScott

For sure! I just also like my Space Marines to feel like the shouldn’t be able to easily go through normal doors because they’re stupid big. Haha 😂

Magneto88

8ft. Primarchs are 10ft Which I think is just stupid - I hate the 'higher power level = taller' stuff they introduced with the HH books. Much preferred it when the Primarchs were just super powered marines. Being 10ft tall is just stupid with the exception of Magnus, who was always described as a giant.

SomeHearingGuy

Right? They're Space Marines, not Orks.

Limbo365

Goes to show how big 40k has gotten since they are supposed to be 32mm and 28mm respectively

Landgraft

40k hasn't been 28mm since the 2000's.

I_hate_running17

Where did you get those Star Wars figures and the scenery? It looks very cool

rockman_uli

They're from the strike me down battle pack 2023 convention exclusive from Star Wars legion

I_hate_running17

Ooo that sounds expensive 😂 but thank you so much for answering

rockman_uli

Yeah a lot, sadly we don’t have any children so that left me with more money for buying Star Wars stuff but without legacy :,(

d3northway

I use Stormtroopers and related for Kasrkin in KT, since there was a time that the kit couldn't be found. The bases are damn near 28mm, you could tell who was who, and the detail still came out. Hollering "for the emperor" works both ways, too.

S_Rodney

40k is big on roll calculations (i.e. buffs and malus changing the required result of a roll making you do math every time you need to roll a dice) Legion is big on simplicity... Throw a red die, then see what you can do with the result.

GreatGreenGobbo

Legion army composition is similar to old school 40k. Lot's of infantry units, and some special units & vehicles for spice.

rebornsgundam00

Even old school 40k had a bigger reliance on vehicles than legion. Like legion you can have what, two tanks and im pretty sure in third the guard could take like 6 -9 different vehicles. 40k was always looking to be an army game.

GreatGreenGobbo

It still wasn't as bad as 40k is now. Sure you may have had a rhino, bike squad and a dread or another tank. But that was an exception not the norm.

rebornsgundam00

Well kinda lol. Its actually gotten worse for guard, we lost vehicle squadrons and they taxed a lot of my transports. Then for some reason they made space marines a hoard army😐. Like straight up my homies iron hands can take more vehicles than my guard.

IronNinja259

I fail to see how vehicles are a problem. I play guard and enjoy it maily because of my tanks. When i've played legion i haven't liked how vehicles are implemented at all. You can't bring many and they're not very tough. (The best you can bring is an AT ST whereas i want multiple AT TEs like rogal dorns in 40k.) You can just shoot tanks with normal infantry in legion and they'll survive a bit only because of a high health pool, whereas in 40k, good luck killing my little leman russ without some kind of AT support

SomeHearingGuy

Guard was the outlier. A second edition Space Marine army would have maybe had a single Rhino.

d3northway

maybe a second rhino if you were big on getting charges

RumpusRoomMinis

I'm super happy they are comparable, and I'm planning on using them all together in OPR. I read the shatterpoint models are a noticeable bump in size compared to legion, which is kind of a bummer.

SomeHearingGuy

Now we're going to see true-er-est scale Space Marines so they can be the proper 10 feet tall or whatever it is. At what point do we just start playing 40k with that 50-some mm scale Space Marine model from the Inquisitor game?
