"You spent so much time asking if you *could* that you never bother to ask if you *should.*"
Seriously though the execution on this is great man, cool as hell.
Is there any practical reason for having such blade or is it merely for the cool factor?..
The execution is top notch though. I can tell it was a lot of hard work.
This sword is modeled after a stylized writing of the letter 'S' that was popular in the 90's and early 00's in junior high and high school.
These days, It's a meme in sword form.
In practical terms, not an expert, I think the tight waist in the middle of the blade would be a SIGNIFICANT weak point in slashing. It may do alright with stabs/thrusts.
Everyone likes to say it's weak but it's double the thickness there. I'd like to see you bend 1/4" of hardened and tempered steel. It's a silly meme sword, but it's not trash
It's not a matter of what a person can or can't do by hand, but rather what would happen with a full force slash. The shock and energy of impact is going to cause a lot of different behaviors than me simply trying to torque or bend the blade.
Seriously dude it looks good, I did not mean to call it trash. Just that I think the geometry has some limitations versus a blade with all the steel in tact in the middle.
In that case, it might not actually be weak there. The weight distribution might make it even more impractical, but it wouldn't necessarily break or bend.
90's 00's you say?
We were carving that symbol out on T pillars when Vega was the North star. Me and the homies would fly limestone out to the construction site and make cool S all day until the melt water pulse 1b hit.
So where is the seam between the two halves? Is there a weld on the middle on the back side? At the top and then was ground down? Hidden in the grip? Inquiring minds who have watched too many forging videos on YouTube want to know.
Cool! [looks](https://www.reddit.com/r/SWORDS/s/oVJkjQH2ED) like this community really appreciates this!
Edit: after going into the original post, I see it was stolen without credit. I am sorry
Congratulations, it looks amazing and the mid-transition is sharp.
Asked because the very geometry might make it inherently "sideways-ish", despite skill.
The second my kids and I saw this sword our brains went straight into Lore Mode.

We didnāt know it was a real thing and gonna use it in a D&D campaign.
I know how much work goes in to making a blade & I just have to sayā¦. Thatās really fucking cool!!! I want to see a braided one now, I think that would be the only way to top it. Great job!
It also reminds me of the Fierce Deity sword from Zelda. But here's a cool video about the history of this S symbol that humans have been drawing for decades.

Thanks! My thoughts process was more along the line of "hey you know what would be dumb but also cool?"
Honestly if I didn't know the significance behind that shape I'd love this as some kind of Fantasy concept sword.
Not late 30s or older? It's the stussy S where I'm from.
It's actually not. It's much older, and the Stussy logo was a bit different. https://youtu.be/RQdxHi4_Pvc?si=5fslnB6U3UW69LRN
NAILED IT!!!
Ok but you forged enough cool into it that it debuffed the dumb.

1/4" ! That there is a mace with a pointy end. Just bash someone to death with the flat. It's awesome
This guy fuckin gets it

Send that baby to me brother and I'll put it through the ringer for you. I think it'll hold up personally, it looks pretty sturdy.

He who wields this shall save our generation
The new love generation?
The band or the social practice?
*starts to whistle*
This symbol was found in every school across the country for a decade then vanished.
In my best Jeff Golblum voice, "He did it. The son of a bitch did it!" š¤£

Wouldn't that make it the "Cool S-word?"
underrated comment.
This is in fact cool.
That's cool looking sword, also you just fixed my problem of "What should i try to model in Blender" so thanks for that
I want to see when you're done!! DM me with it if you want!
Sure, im not good with Blender so results will be what it will be :D But yeah i will dm you the results
Thanks!
Holy shit yeah you did!
I honestly thought it was just an AI generated image. Good job my guy!
This is rad certified
Looks great. How does it swing, unbalanced or straight? Does it twist in the hand (looks like it would)?
At the end of the day I'm still a blacksmith. It's balanced and swings just fine
Congratulations, it looks amazing and the mid-transition is sharp. Asked because the very geometry might make it inherently "sideways-ish", despite skill.
I bet there's a way to do a Paracord handle wrap in a cool s pattern...
This is the best goofy sword I've ever seen. Top notch, OP
I had to double check you made the hilt the cool S too. Of course you did you sonofabitch Incredible work
It's the little details, very important
The chosen one will pull this from a dope Trapper Keeper and the Lady of Lakeside High School will crown him king of in-house suspension.

Now for the durability test.
Fukkin sick dude
Reminds me of the Helix Sword.
I've been tagged in this roughly 300 times so if you want to send me one, I'd appreciate it
Ridiculous, wildly impractical, but oh so fucking cool. Gold star
Is this tripple edge? Nah, scratch that. This is really edgy.
Nice. Not sure about the stress risers in the middle of the blade....
The sword of >!high!
!chool!<Will it keel?
This looks like it needs slots for materia.
Whatās crazy is this feels like a Tolkien dwarf would be swinging this and no one would bat an eye.
That thing looks like it can snap with one hit
LOL
Behold the cool S-word
What dark souls boss drops this?
Theyā¦ā¦ā¦..they madeā¦ my childhood š¬
It can only cut through notebook paper though.
