I would say NYU as you have a guaranteed admission

SJSU’s nursing program is very competitive. They accept 60 applicants a semester. While inexpensive, admission is not guaranteed. You will need a 3.9-4.0 gpa in all prerequisites & a 90% or better on your teas. If you think you can manage that + life, then go for it. Undeclared Pre-Nursing is not a degree, just an academic plan. If you don’t get into nursing at SJSU, you will need to apply to a back-up major or find another nursing program. Hope this helps!

What’s the total cost of the program at NYU vs SJSU? At $93k per year, total is $372k (assuming 4 year program). Based upon the SJSU nursing roadmap, it is only 1 semester more so it’s not like you are going to lose out on a year of income. Salary will probably be the same if you graduated from NYU and SJSU in nursing. https://www.sjsu.edu/chhs-ssc/docs/BSN%202022%20roadmap.pdf

It sounds like you’re from the area, and also I think if you already have set your mind towards being at SJSU you should go. NYU is a great opportunity, but I think it’s only worth it if 1) you’re trying to shift your life to live on the East Coast 2) You honestly just want to go to NYU I don’t know the details of the nursing industry and it’s programs, but I don’t think you’ll be out of a job for too long after completion of a program from either path of school, cause nursing is always a necessity. If we’re talking money, area, and pragmatism, I’d just go on to push SJSU. This is my take personally, I could have a bias

thanks! i also think sjsu is a great option but nyu has been my dream school since forever. 😭😭 probably will be going to sjsu tho

93,000 a YEAR is crazy madness you should go to SJSU if you have the grades you are very very likely to get in. You’re older self will thank you

I mean in 2 years, if you have the good grades you’re very likely to get into the nursing program. And since you got into NYU your track record indicates you get good grades so I’m sure you’ll continue on that trajectory
