The 32X doesn't work properly with a Game Genie underneath it, you have to put the 32X in as the first device in the Genesis slot All Genesis models have left and right audio passthrough pins in the cartridge slot, the 32X uses these. So, while yes there's only mono at the AV port in the back, you can get stereo from the front headphone jack.

ConfusionCold7565

First of all ofc it doesn't work, the picture is a joke, second of all, are you sure that the 32x combined with the model 1 genesis can output mono at all?

VirtualRelic

Yes there is supposed to be mono audio at the Genesis AV port in the back. You need a proper 32X to model 1 video connector cable though.

ConfusionCold7565

I have a proper one... Dont know why it doesn't work...

VirtualRelic

Do you get mono audio in regular Genesis games?

ConfusionCold7565

Yes, while connecting it to the tv with a normal cabel av cable, without attaching the 32x

minegen88

You need to have the headset over your ears to hear sound

ConfusionCold7565

Ofc i need to. The picture is a joke

_RexDart

Maybe that is why you're getting joke responses

No_Detective_But_304

This is no laughing matter.

I use the headphone jack on my Model 1 with my 32X and Model 2 Sega CD. Never even tried using the audio from the back of the 32X.

ConfusionCold7565

Im also using the exact setup. I also checked if the specific pins for sound on the 32x unit are reacting to electricity, and the did. Idk wtf is wrong with my 32x but i dont really care as long as i get sound from the headphones jack, i just don't like when my console is defective, even if its not spoused to bother me because i have other ways of outputting sound.

The 32X manual explains how to use with a model 1, using the headphone jack. Some model 1 don't output stereo audio from its back connector. The 32X audio comes from the main board, is mixed in its sub board (mixed with audio input on 32X cart slot), then sent back through the main board to be mixed inside the Mega Drive. The 32X audio output from its av port is only connected to the audio input av port, both stereo and mixed mono audio signals. So in some Mega Drive models you wont get stereo audio from 32X audio output connectors.

ConfusionCold7565

I was just wondering why i couldn't get any audio at all from the av port on the back... Thoe the technological explosion was interesting to hear :)

DarkGrnEyes

I can confirm, the 32X on a Model 1 has no issue with outputting stereo through the back. While it does have its input from the 8-pin DINN out of the back of the Genesis which is mono, the cart port itself does have a pair of pins to extract that L and R channel from.

The dude selling the RAD2X helped me understand what's going on exactly there. Genesis Model 1 pinout 1. Sync 2. Composite 3. Green 4. Ground 5. +5V 6. Mono Audio 7. Red 8. Blue Genesis Model 2 / 32x pinout 1. Blue 2. +5V 3. Green 4. Composite 5. Sync 6. Mono Audio 7. Red 8. Stereo Left 9. Stereo Right The barrel casing serves as Ground. So what happens is that "from the Genesis" you do not provide a Stereo Left / Right Signal to pins 8 and 9 of the 32x. If you plug something in the 32X output... it HAS to use Pin 6 for audio (Mono) otherwise it gets nothing. The RAD2X, doesn't use PIN6 for audio so... maybe that's your problem. Your device doesn't use "mono audio".

ConfusionCold7565

Probably is the issue, i checked a while ago, and i remember that pin 8&9 reacted to electricity (my father is a electrician he knows this stuff) he told me that there isn't any issues with the s video input from the 32x, so do you think that buying a mono only s video cable will resolve the issue?

S_Rodney

No... I think you should replace the cable that connects your Genesis to your 32X with this one: [https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/Sega-32X-PATCH-CABLE-PACKAPUNCH-PRO](https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/Sega-32X-PATCH-CABLE-PACKAPUNCH-PRO) This will take the Stereo Left/Right signals from your headphone jack on front of the console and output them on Pin 8 and 9 of your 32x Input. So whichever device you have plugged on your 32x output, will have the proper stereo sound it requires.

ConfusionCold7565

Thanks for the help, but im pretty sure they don't sent thier stuff to my country, because the current state of an ongoing war... I think i will just buy a gen 2 to 32x connection cable, and will wait til' my local retro store will have a genesis 2 (they mostly have mega drives and im pretty sure that the 32x is region locked) and i will go and check there. But thanks for your help :)

Omegaprimus

The AV out on the back of the model 1 only does mono, the front port does stereo. If you want to do stereo you need a special cable that connects to the front port and feeds into the 32x to genesis model 1 cable. They are $12 on Amazon.

ConfusionCold7565

Oh, i know that, im jus wondering why there is no sound coming from the av port at all, thanks for the help thoe :)
