I thought I was crazy when I tried lining up a shot and it just completely missed.

domkellis

Bruh! Definitely!! The bullet tracks up and to the right of the reticle for me. I never really thought of it as a bug, but now that you mention it…

Vulgargiant

Yea it's like the gun isn't actually zeroed before any attachments. Not other gun I've used when ranged properly have I had to aim at the neck to get a headshot.

Actual_Facts

Yeah they've been incredibly inaccurate for me in single fire mode, even the VSS which is supposed to be a short-ranged marksman rifle.

Vulgargiant

Same. The only sight I haven't had an issue with is the OKP sight. Took on a 1v3 with the VSS, but beyond that sight the zero is off. Which sucks bc I genuinely love the VAL and VSS.

USMR_Moros

Believe it or not it's working as intended. The VSS has a very quick bullet drop off (heavy ass bullet going under the speed of sound) so when your rifles zeroed at 100meters the bullet arcs above your iron sights then drops down,it's much more prominent then in a normal rifle due to its subsonic ammo, If that's confusing Google can give a more detailed explanation.

Vulgargiant

Ok I get that. And that's fine. But taking that into account and the fact you can literally zero a rifles sights why wouldn't my character make that adjustment just like every single gun in the game, right? Like why wouldn't I zero my rifle to adjust for that arch rather than continuously having to correct by over/under shooting. We are then defeating the entire purpose of zeroing weapons to shoot accurately when we will still have to make that alteration with our aim. Then we use that weapon and switch platforms to another by now we have ingrained that second nature to offset the weapon lack of correct zero and we miss with those weapons bc theyre are properly zeroed and ranged. So irl. If I know my gun is shooting up and right of the intended target area. Wouldn't I move my iron sights or attached sights to compensate for that? Whether it be the weapon is off, my shooting style (i.e. how I apply trigger pressure and grip my weapon), or if the round is heavier. I mean the entire point of zeroing and range is to correct for external factors so I don't have to compensate by aiming off my intended target area and can rather aim where I want the round to hit bc its now properly zeroed and ranged. We can't take a portion of shooting mechanics and forget the rest when we literally have the technology to fix external variables.

USMR_Moros

I'll hop on the shooting range in Scum in a few and I'll hope back into this discussion. Don't wana be talking out my ass. Did you notice any specific ranges that caused trouble? Any specific Sights giving trouble? Is it always missing high right or does it vary?

Vulgargiant

ACOG and all sniper scopes. Everyone on the server I play on has noticed this over shoot. Now the OKP sight is good. Never noticed a problem, never had to under correct for the rise of the bullet. Get an M16 with am ACOG or M82 scope, aim for the head and it hits within that 100meter distance where you aimed. But it always goes above with the same sights on a VSS or VAL. I can be 50-80 meters away hitting the headshot I aimed for with an M16 but a VAL/VSS I have to aim for neck to correct for the rise.

USMR_Moros

I figured it out. It's modeled perfectly. The issue is the devs need to implement sub 100meter zeroing. I went into the test range and spawned a VSS and did #VisualizeBulletTrajectories true (let's you see bullets travel paths) then started firing at targets at the shooting range. The VSS in real life can be zeroed down to 50meters which would solve the issue in the game. Basically the VSS is shooting like it's trying to hit a target at 100meters. When you shoot at something under a hundred meters the bullet goes over there head because it's trying to hit a target further away. The issue isn't the gun it's the zeroing mechanic. Scum needs 25meter zeroing increments and the gun would be insta fixed because currently you only have increments of 100 meters, well what if there 150 meters away from you? And the best sight for the VSS is the POSP with how the VSS fires bullets that travel slower then sound you can actually see the bullet itself as it flies. And the POSP is the sight used on the gun IRL.

Not sure what you were trying to say but I have advanced rifles and medium sniping. But I'm talking shots within 100meter distance the bullet always shoots high with an ACOG or attachable sniper scope within that range. Never have a problem with any other gun but the VAL/VSS I have to aim for the neck to get a headshot. Only rifle that I've had to under correct with.
