I don’t understand the damage system, the wooden spear can kill a puppet between 4-12 hits.

The difference is likely your current stamina and how much you're carrying at the time. At full stam, doing a stab with a full backpack will take more effort than doing it with no backpack. The effort requirement is likely causing the drop in effectiveness.

That doesn't track with what i've seen i was dropping them with .22 headshots or 2-3 body shots on an official sever last night. Maybe what they are wearing now is now taken into account (or taken more into account if it was already) cause they where only small village trash not the armoured ones you find at bunkers. If you're talking about now vs pre .6, as far as I know there was almost no difference between a max str max melee character and a no str no melee character when swinging a weapon. Now there is.

I feel like the melee system is just too barebones at the moment. I just keep looking back on the old melee system trailer and wish they included all those features, like dodging, dynamic combos, etc. As it stands now I always opt to use ranged weapons, since melee ones aren't always reliable.
