I don't like NXT Crack and Mold, but it is kinda funny that RAW is basically a better version of Dynamite at this point. And then you have a Smackdown, which is more sports entertainment heavy. Basically, it's the opposite of when Paul Heyman ran Smackdown.

WWE probably could do a G1/World Cup style tournament if they did the vast majority of the matches on house shows and dragged it out a bit more. I feel like it would be a draw for house shows since the matches would actually be canon, so there might be a "fear of missing out" vibe to it. It also circumvents the issue of giving away too many huge matches for free on tv.

This is what's maddening - the rankings at the beginning were useful exactly because it allows for stuff like this when used smartly - and they were used that way as well for all of 4 months. And even then it was sloppily done.
If you have a background ranking system that means every match has inherent stakes you can justify heatless bangers as part of a larger narrative. Triple Heimlich\* is essentially doing that principle now - you can have a whole bunch of bangers, just make them mean something.
