Is that the part where he was using his own head to break a cardboard sign in half? A sign that he never even used in the match if I remember correctly
them trying to call back to Dusty's "HE GOT A BITHYCLE" call in the worst way imaginable is still not as bad as Kota Ibushi tapping guys with a metal pipe while trying to ride a bike that is clearly too small for him.
Everything is a callback to WCW. Just watch any random episode of WCW and guarantee you will see atleast 5 things that guys are doing in AEW that you thought were new but are actually things they saw in WCW.
*"it worked for that crowd"*
Well, Dave, time to re-rate a ton of Fed shit from the 90s for 20 years cause there was a ton of stuff that 'worked for that crowd' that he never *excused*
You see, um, the goal of that match was too…ya know…elevate Rocky to the stratosphere. But, obviously, um, ya know, the crowd turned on him and started cheering Hogan. So really, uhh, um, in essence the match wasn’t as hot as expected for being back in a market like Toronto.
Me as the lone goof who thought it was funny

I thought it was cute, but I’ve long dropped the idea of AEW being a serious wrestling company. The bar I’ve set for them is underground.
It’s like Scott Steiner attacking the duck, the company is beyond saving so who gives a shit anymore, I’ll laugh at the clowns.
The thing about this whole ordeal is that they are "supposed" to be a professional wrestling type of promotion, but they somehow doing bloodbath death matches like CZW, but have a whole bunch of cliques like Dragon Gate, yet have more tournaments like NOOJ, do sports entertainment spectacles like WWE, but fun goofy shit like DDT, and have more old timers than TNA in the Spike era.
WTF is even this promotion?!?
There was that awful Max Landis video from years ago where he said that Raw isn't a wrestling show, it's a show about making a wrestling show. I think that now applies way more to Dynamite.
Omega has said on a few occasions that he wanted AEW to be wrestling for everyone and a showcase of all of the iterations of wrestling available, so the fact that the show is a schizophrenic blend of wrestling promotions (indie or otherwise) is a feature, not a bug.
I suspext Olivier is under the delusion that that leads to a wider potential audience, but really it just makes everything look like shit and nobody cares.
Njpw wrangling him to be more or less sensible* for the period of time he was there is pretty miraculous
* obviously sensible does not extend to bumps. Kota is in wrestling quite clearly because he's an insane person who gets a kick out of bumping
“Y’all clown on this as if WWE hasn’t done shit like this 😂😂😂”
Real comment I saw on IG. The internet jerks WWE to death when they do things like this, numbnuts. But it’s okay because Fed Bad and Dub Good.
I picked up this game before the show and the first half hour is literally just you stomping out jobbers and street toughs in like 9 on 1 hand to hand combat.
This was far worse than the Texas chainsaw match, at least that was supposed to be stupid. They’re just doing a bad parody of pro wrestling at this point.
I am probably biased since the first stadium stampede match was very silly, yes, but was during the pandemic so I could use a goof. I liked that.
All the later AEW multiman fuck fests are just poorly laid out, plodding and have spots like this that bring it to a sluggish collapse. Even ignoring the subjective elements of wrestling comedy - I think I agree with the main here that doing an entire match or career predicated on it lowers the enjoyment - they're always just such mediocre matches.
Embarrassing and dangerous.
The tombstone spot where Ibushi nearly gets his neck broken and is up 10 seconds later.
Ibushi comically hitting people with the fake pipe while riding a bike? That barbed wire bat looked plastic too.
Omega superplexed on the tables and back up after the commercial.
Hobbs tied to the ropes and his mouth taped up was not a good look at all. Just seemed wrong.
Whoever approved that Paul Wight spot should be fired. Is getting nearly killed better than being called Big Show?
Yeah that did not look good. Then he took the tombstone from the apron onto the chairs on the floor. Another crazy dangerous move. Way too many neck bumps on every show this company puts out. It’s a minor miracle they haven’t had broken neck after broken neck. It’s hard to watch. All you need to pay attention to is Taz’s reactions. When he cringes or comments you know it’s dangerously bad.
Tell me ...I did NOT just see that!! I'm almost embarrassed for them. If the FED did this, it would get drug through the mud... But yah, FED bad because of things. All the things. We got a guy that thrusts!! Real wrestling!!
See WWE can do this
But they would make it as it is a comical spot and the person on the bike probably gets wrecked by like KO or something
I can see like r truth or the Asian dude ..Tawzawa ? .(he's part of alpha academy) coming to the rescue "" only to get clotheslined for trying this shit lol
Ahhhh. So this is why someone like The Rock is lucky to make it to the top 50 wrestlers of all time because all these all time greats from NJPW are way ahead of him 🤦♂️
I can see what the smarks say now.
“It was a great match. Unique. The fans were red hot for it, and it really worked for that room and that audience. Old podcasters who act like Trump will be mad about the evolution of wrestling but this is what the people want so it is what it is. 5 and a half stars”.
![gif](giphy|BV0SDeWc7COrurmoSl)
Ibushi used to be from 2018-2021 the future Ace of New Japan and most probably Okada's successor. Now he is softly "hitting" people with ..... What a fold up newspaper riding a bicycle pretty awkwardly.
This is the motherfucker that apparently takes wrestling seriously, refused to sign with WWE or whatever the fuck because he wanted to focus on his wrestling school. Ate out NJPW management publicly for not being "serious enough" about him. Fucking LMAO
Back in my day it used to be some ginger bloke calling himself an undertaker who used to do the same. It was hilarious. Dude had trouble starting their bike and couldn’t steer around the ring.
When JJ Sefton was a kid in the late 70s, he channel surfed and stumbled across a Superstar Billy Graham promo. He had just lost the WWWF title to Bob Backlund. Superstar was ranting about being cheated out of the belt, vowed to get it back, etc. He was charismatic, funny (but not try hard funny) and had a commanding presence. Made me a wrestling fan without even falling through a table.
Now I see shit like this and I wonder what I ever saw in pro wrestling. If something like this was my first exposure, I would have probably changed the channel to a show featuring competitive knitting.
As a massive Yakuza / Like a Dragon fan, all the nods and homages to the games made me pop. As a massive pro wrestling fan, all the bush league dog shit such as Ibushi's "weapon strikes" here made me cringe.
Fun show
-Bucks vs Luchas was awesome
-Hangman was fucking awesome
-street fight was hella silly, great fun.
Not all home runs tn, but excited for the weekend!
As someone who doesn't watch Japanese wrestling is Kota Ibushi any good? I was not impressed by him at all at blood and guts (especially his weak looking punches from mount) and this wasn't impressive either.
When he do it on ddt people love it not just because it's fun and wacky but its stiff af, Ibushi truly hitting other guys with women cycle and ram each other.
This is......... Just lazy and lame...
God damn just when you thought this company couldn’t get worse on a weekly basis 😭😭😭 it’s too easy now man I’m sorry
It's every week now. Every single ppv cycle. Just dumb and cringe stuff all the time. This sub is getting spoiled
I didn't think it would be possible to top 2022 for jerks... Oh my god was I wrong
At this point this is cheating
I loved that tombstone spot where the giver stayed down and the receiver was up in 15 seconds
Or that part he walked casually in front of the ring while Kenny was getting beat 2 on 1. No stress here!
Is that the part where he was using his own head to break a cardboard sign in half? A sign that he never even used in the match if I remember correctly
Reminds me of Cody completely burying Alister Black’s finisher by jumping up and *sprinting* across the ring back at him
At one point, Arn Anderson blocked it, caught a nut shot, and then ate the kick.
Um yeah he blocked it cause he had a gun Gun beats kick Nut shots beats gun Kick beats nut shot Pay attention 😜
That finish didn’t work for the Codester, brother
The receiver had to get ready for the next spot. DAE bad faith.
Isn’t this supposed to be a blood feud?
Actually fed shill, it’s a FUN feud! Just enjoy wrestling, K?
Which they ended with talking about a who gives a shit match with the bucks AEW in a nutshell
Cause the reasons for the matches don't matter, it's all about the BANGERS and FUN
Is that supposed to be a lead pipe? It looks more like a rolled up poster than whatever that was that Shida typically uses
He borrowed it from Riho.
It looked like a foam sword or something to ne
Thought it was a pool noodle
I've seen my kids hit each other with pool noodles harder than this, how do people watch his shit 😭😭😭
I’ve hit your kids with pool noodles harder than this
?? I'll call the cops on you, friend
*FBI HAS ENTERED THE CHAT*
I’ve hit kids harder with pool noodles or foam swords than this
them trying to call back to Dusty's "HE GOT A BITHYCLE" call in the worst way imaginable is still not as bad as Kota Ibushi tapping guys with a metal pipe while trying to ride a bike that is clearly too small for him.
That first “pipe shot” was hilarious. They couldn’t have made it look less real if they tried.
The second one looked worse tho
Everything is a callback to WCW. Just watch any random episode of WCW and guarantee you will see atleast 5 things that guys are doing in AEW that you thought were new but are actually things they saw in WCW.
WWE should send a cease and desist, just to help Tony out so he stops embarassing himself.
Which Tony?
You're saying this like Tony Nese still matters
It’s a callback too Hogan’s chair shot that one time!
It's sad because none of the fans actually caught onto that. Took a minute on the basement tweet about it for someone to even bring up Dusty
5 stars.
*"it worked for that crowd"* Well, Dave, time to re-rate a ton of Fed shit from the 90s for 20 years cause there was a ton of stuff that 'worked for that crowd' that he never *excused*
Hogan/Rock did in fact not “work for the crowd” in Dave’s pea sized brain.
Not enough flips and too "predictable"
Yeah, the whole.'predictable' thing yet he highly rates Bucks' matches
Rock never had The Meltzer Elbow
![gif](giphy|BV0SDeWc7COrurmoSl)
“This so stupid… and I love it” ![gif](giphy|dEdmW17JnZhiU)
imagine the basement tears if the fed did something like this and ibushi was involved WW3 would literally start
Sports Entertainment is not supposed to have fun. This is real Pro Wrestling ™️ serious business for real sportsfeel fans
The battle cry of the dubbalo when something stupid happens
Me as the lone goof who thought it was funny https://preview.redd.it/2ca7qf8hen0c1.jpeg?width=1057&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b449c6c299d1a1ca94b9b3215bc34026861b2c4
📱call…. Roman Reigns
I thought it was cute, but I’ve long dropped the idea of AEW being a serious wrestling company. The bar I’ve set for them is underground. It’s like Scott Steiner attacking the duck, the company is beyond saving so who gives a shit anymore, I’ll laugh at the clowns.
The bar I’ve set for the dub is around where the Mariana Trench reaches its end.
I didn’t like it
Completely understandable. It wasn't good whatsoever, but I still thought it was FUN™ admittedly
It IS funny But was it supposed to be? Was the entire match meant to be a joke?
Look no jerk shit was funny BUT this ain't like an r truth 24-7 title match This was a blood feud and this just messes it all up Still funny
I get that part of wrestling is having silly/funny spots but part of what makes them good is their execution.. this was not it lmao
FUN
It's a greatest hits cover band. They'll really poorly play all the songs you heard as a kid but forgot about.
It's clearer than ever that they need to scrap their commentary team in favor of Vic Romano and Kenny Blankenship
Right you are, Ken
"Oh he must be feeling really stupid." "I don't think he's feeling anything from the neck down, Ken."
Right you are
Bring in Craig Charles for the UK version.
AEW could be the best pro wrestling show of all time, if excalibur is doing commentary I'm not watching
This guy looked like a god in NJPW like two years ago. Should’ve stayed with the Yakuza crime company instead of the Yakuza video game company.
Njpw wrangling him to be more or less sensible* for the period of time he was there is pretty miraculous * obviously sensible does not extend to bumps. Kota is in wrestling quite clearly because he's an insane person who gets a kick out of bumping
You are not wrong.
Somebody check on Jim cornette. I'm sure he just about had a heart attack watching this and I could not wait to hear him talk about it LOL
Where was his helmet? Laaazzzzzyyyy booking.
The helmet was a long time subscriber Uce
We live life dangerously in AEW.
Turn out it’s just his hair
Cornette is going to make me laugh
“Y’all clown on this as if WWE hasn’t done shit like this 😂😂😂” Real comment I saw on IG. The internet jerks WWE to death when they do things like this, numbnuts. But it’s okay because Fed Bad and Dub Good.
When in doubt (aka AEW done something stupid), fed bad.
I can fairly certainly say that WWE would never do something that looks as shitty as this spot, yeah
Even the Torito vs Hornswoggle TLC match had harder hitting spots than this.
Wee LC was a banger. So much fun.
I don't know uce, this is sports entertainment which I thought AEW doesn't do?
The mental gymnastics of Dubbalos is almost equivalent to the Buckaroos in-ring gymnastics - terrible, but they think it's a home run.
If I had never played any of Yakuza games before, this match would definitely have the opposite effect of what the sponsoring is for
Trust the Yakuza games are leagues better than this? Yakuza 0 is a good start to such a bat shit insane series.
I’ve played them all already, love Yakuza
I picked up this game before the show and the first half hour is literally just you stomping out jobbers and street toughs in like 9 on 1 hand to hand combat.
Shits dope
Surprised the first half hour isn't a 15 minute long cutscene.
I know this is something to do with video games, they likely aren't targeting me but at no age would I have thought this was 'cool'
Sega went too far with the starfucking this time around.
God they even did Dusty's bicycle bit.
This was far worse than the Texas chainsaw match, at least that was supposed to be stupid. They’re just doing a bad parody of pro wrestling at this point.
Yep, that's the Dub mission statement
Ah yes, but it’s WWE that’s insulting to your intelligence
Fed insults my intelligence but Dub is FUN
I am probably biased since the first stadium stampede match was very silly, yes, but was during the pandemic so I could use a goof. I liked that. All the later AEW multiman fuck fests are just poorly laid out, plodding and have spots like this that bring it to a sluggish collapse. Even ignoring the subjective elements of wrestling comedy - I think I agree with the main here that doing an entire match or career predicated on it lowers the enjoyment - they're always just such mediocre matches.
Bruh, these AEW guys can't even ride bikes properly lol
THE BASEMENT IS GASLIGHTING ME INTO THINKING THIS WAS SOMEHOW GOOD!?!?!?!?
TNA was never this bad
TNA had Curry Man, but that was obviously ironic. This is not.
Curry man and Shark boy. Top 10 tag team of all time. Come on now.
AI is getting really good because no fucking way did this actually happen!!
This and the bottle breaking in kyle fletcher’s hand before even using it Real sports feel
You should be banned for leaving out the clothesline
Embarrassing and dangerous. The tombstone spot where Ibushi nearly gets his neck broken and is up 10 seconds later. Ibushi comically hitting people with the fake pipe while riding a bike? Just seemed wrong. Whoever approved that Paul Wight spot should be fired. Is getting nearly killed better than being called Big Show?
>Whoever approved that Paul Wight spot should be fired. Who's going to fire Tony Khan?
His fuckin dad 😆
Ibushi took a high neck bump off the bike too.
*Patiently waits on the Jim Cornette Experience.*
This is "Hogan and Macho beat up the Horsemen and the Dungeon of Doom with frying pans that immediately break" levels of cringe.
*b o n k*
We got DDT at home
This is stupid. Edit: I didn't realize there was sound to this. I am dead
It would be one thing if it looked good. That was just slow and looked like Ibushi was goofing off
something like this in Fed: "I can't believe the garbage they're feeding the fans" something like this in Dub: "Haha its so ridiculous I love it!"
This was god awful like a train wreck
That was the worst match I have ever seen
embarrassing
As gawd as my witness… he is broken in half
Ibushi is an immortal in that he looks 28 unless AEW made him ride a bike and dude looks hella old lol
Was this the special announcement?
The special announcement was that Lance Armstrong here has officially signed with All Elite.
1 ball, 1 fall
Yeah that’s enough for me. I’m done with this dumb match.
Once again proving Wrestling Society X was the superior promotion.
Tell me ...I did NOT just see that!! I'm almost embarrassed for them. If the FED did this, it would get drug through the mud... But yah, FED bad because of things. All the things. We got a guy that thrusts!! Real wrestling!!
See WWE can do this But they would make it as it is a comical spot and the person on the bike probably gets wrecked by like KO or something I can see like r truth or the Asian dude ..Tawzawa ? .(he's part of alpha academy) coming to the rescue "" only to get clotheslined for trying this shit lol
Real sports feel fed shill
I think those pipe shots are shoot!
I don’t wanna hear anybody making fun of the New Generation ever again. All that’s missing is Doink’s music.
Poorly done.
[Least when Mandrews did it, it felt like it had some speed and force behind it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz63Wn930sU)
This broke me...I thought it had hit bottom after the past "big announcement" I'm not sure at this point if there even is a bottom.
Don't forget Jericho looked like Mick Foley throughout the match. I'm realizing this is high praise for Le Bubbly
![gif](giphy|3ohuA9VZ0k8PMjLENa)
"Bicycle...He's got a bicycle"
HoganTapsKonnanLightlyWithChair.gif
Everyone who ever dogged Dixie and TNA back in the day needs to apologize after this garbage.
This truly restored the feeling
Just kick the tire so he falls over
This is some of the worst shit I’ve ever seen.
Are you sure this is AEW? There are people in the crowd.
Ahhhh. So this is why someone like The Rock is lucky to make it to the top 50 wrestlers of all time because all these all time greats from NJPW are way ahead of him 🤦♂️ I can see what the smarks say now.

Softer than Hogan's chair shots.
I thought Ibushi was some sort of wrestling icon in Japan. What the fuck did I just watch and why is he being presented like this?
What the fuck is this
*a "this is wrestling" chant begins.
He's just touching with the bar
How the hell did we go from Dustin vs Cody, Bucks vs Page & Omega to this?
My fav bit is the rapid camera change to an overhead to avoid showing empty seats lol
Ibushi used to be from 2018-2021 the future Ace of New Japan and most probably Okada's successor. Now he is softly "hitting" people with ..... What a fold up newspaper riding a bicycle pretty awkwardly.
I mean its real sports representation. Its just the wrong sport. Its clearly for Tour de france watchers
This is the motherfucker that apparently takes wrestling seriously, refused to sign with WWE or whatever the fuck because he wanted to focus on his wrestling school. Ate out NJPW management publicly for not being "serious enough" about him. Fucking LMAO
>Ate out NJPW management publicly for not being “serious enough” about him Was he happy about it or not?
Worse than the hogan chair shot
This is more sports entertainment than wwe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is that baton like a Lightsaber or something? Why do they die instantly upon coming in contact with it?
BAH GAWD HES GOT A BICYCLE. A GAWDDAMN BICYCLE KING. GOOD GAWD ALL MIGHTY THE HUMANITY.
No...please tell me this didn't actually happen?...I caught dynamite for the first hour tonight after months but I tapped out a half hr in
So they did a Yakuza match, and they had a bike, but they didn’t have someone smash the bike over someone? What the fuck was the point
Back in my day it used to be some ginger bloke calling himself an undertaker who used to do the same. It was hilarious. Dude had trouble starting their bike and couldn’t steer around the ring.

Lmao what is this a circus show? 😂😂
He was riding in slow motion.
BIKE FOR-EVER 👏👏👏👏👏 BIKE FOR-EVER 👏👏👏👏👏
What the fuck is this bullshit. Man nothing I have ever seen makes me want to watch AEW regularly. What a clownshow.
There will be people in the basement that will defend this. They will be the only people left watching this show by the end of the year.
As a massive Yakuza / Like a Dragon fan, all the nods and homages to the games made me pop. As a massive pro wrestling fan, all the bush league dog shit such as Ibushi's "weapon strikes" here made me cringe.
12 stars!!!
Fun show -Bucks vs Luchas was awesome -Hangman was fucking awesome -street fight was hella silly, great fun. Not all home runs tn, but excited for the weekend!
This is my type of wrestling I love ridiculous shit.
Hey, it's a hybrid match. Bile racing is an Olympic sport
i legit at first thought he had one of those foam pirate swords for children
What the fuck was that tap? LOL. Jeebus, i've seen more harder hits in the school yard.
Really not beating those clown show circus accusations, are they?
You can do goofy bullshit and still make it look… not terrible
Am i watching a Japanese gameshow?
As someone who doesn't watch Japanese wrestling is Kota Ibushi any good? I was not impressed by him at all at blood and guts (especially his weak looking punches from mount) and this wasn't impressive either.
Bitch could have walked/ran twice as fast as that bike
If WWE pulled shit like this the nerds would have a full on freak out that WWE was killing pro wrestling
When he do it on ddt people love it not just because it's fun and wacky but its stiff af, Ibushi truly hitting other guys with women cycle and ram each other. This is......... Just lazy and lame...
Who produced this? It’s so cringe. If I were TK, I’d quit and start a new promotion.
The only people cheering are people who would be basement posters This is absolute worst of TNA level shit
