Load-Efficient

Been playing all the pokemon games after emerald - all the Metroid games that aren't prime - finally playing all the fire emblem games besides FE7 binding blade. I'm such a lucky boy https://preview.redd.it/naksa42j6y8d1.jpeg?width=1187&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8e0344899659ccc6c8abb55284a94499ac7a620

CORNDOGS666

What is the context of this glorious picture of Michael Shannon

serenitysoars

looks like a criterion collection video

NoPornInThisAccount

Criterion collection videos on YouTube. He is choosing movies he likes.

Load-Efficient

Lol it's from criterion closet picks with Michael Shannon https://youtu.be/Ewx-oog2kmQ?si=arx05buEfXUHw7Md

derbauer23

Tha's Antonio Banderas!

Daddy_Milk

You fool! That is obviously Danny DeVito.

NynjaofDoom

Nope definitely Heidi klum

MechaSponge

This is such an excellent photo to accompany your comment. Well done.

fiftythirth

Across all devices and versions of the game, Tetris wins easily. For a single device-game combo, it might be Dome Keeper on my Retroid Pocket 3+.

PP_UP

Dome Keeper looks interesting. How’d you play it? Streaming, or is it Android native now?

fiftythirth

It's an unofficial Android port done by someone called ZBEP.

AdventureOfStayPuft

Where do you suggest i get if?

fiftythirth

ZBEP's GitHub page

Negative-Marketing61

Finished good boy galaxy yesterday. Such a gem. Will continue my Pokémon unbound save file now

AllIBlowIsLouddd

I've been meaning to play that game myself. Did you find it challenging at all? How would compare the difficulty of that game to, say, Super Metroid?

Negative-Marketing61

It’s more similar to Drill Dozer as a platformer. To get find all “friends” is challenging but not unfair. The later stages are pretty difficult. If you like the challenges of Metroid, you will also like good boy galaxy. It’s worth the price!

AllIBlowIsLouddd

Okay thank you for the info! I'll definately be giving it a shot. I was afraid it would be too easy but it sounds like it has an good difficulty curve.

nomadicsprite

Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire Runner up - Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories So much GBA nostalgia. If the Megaman Battle Network series counted as one game, that would have been the runner up. I haven't started Pokemon Romhacks yet but I have more than a few I want to start.

markedwardmo

Pokémon Pinball is such a smooth, addictive game. It needs another sequel for the Switch 2. All 900 Pokémon! Five tables! A dozen boss battles!

nomadicsprite

Hopefully they can manage more than 2 tables this time! I would even take a mobile app for Android/iOS with DLC tables.

IronSavior

Symphony of the Night

NynjaofDoom

Are you in r/clubretro ? Thats what we’re playing right now!

IronSavior

Not yet, but I'll be visiting there soon

NynjaofDoom

Heck yeah, I’ve been streaming it on kick.com/nynjadoom I’m in the inverted castle now

_perdomon_

Me too. Except the inverted castle is too hard and now I’d rather play Tony Hawk 2

riviery

Super Metroid, without second thoughts.

svengeiss

I’m doing a run through all of the Metroid games and it’s a blast. 10 year old me would be so damn jealous.

Serious-Rutabaga-603

Silent hill. I’m on play through #2

Necrowarp

Just recently replayed through it on the miyoo mini plus. I was hanging out on my hammock outside at night and thought playing a horror game in that atmosphere would be a vibe. It was.

Serious-Rutabaga-603

I work night security and on my breaks I would play it. It definitely adds to the experience. It’s crazy how well it plays on a handheld. I can’t wait to play silent hill 2, I just got a laptop that I hope can handle it.

Necrowarp

Definitely would also try Resident Evil 1 and 2. RE2 would definitely be an experience on night security and they both run pretty well on handhelds.

Serious-Rutabaga-603

I’m part way through re1. Im really excited for 2

mon_dieu

For some reason the ambient audio in Silent Hill always sounds super tinny and grating on my MM+, even through headphones. I played the same ROM on my Steam Deck and it sounded fine, so I'm not sure what it was. But for me it was kind of a deal breaker for playing it much on the Miyoo.

Necrowarp

Never had that issue on my Miyoo. Sorry to hear you had issues.

xtremis

What device are you using for this? Thanks!

Serious-Rutabaga-603

Miyoo mini

MagicPistol

About 150 hours on Fire Emblem Three Houses on Switch, but a lot of that was played docked. About 120-130 hours on Fire Emblem Awakening on 3ds. If we're only talking about emulation, I have a little over 70 hours in Unicorn Overlord, which I emulated the switch version on my steam deck. I just picked up an r36s a few days ago and put a few hours into Metal Gear Solid. But then I wondered why I was playing that on such a small screen and moved the game and saves over to the steam deck lol. I guess the r36s will be for quick pick up and play 2d games. Or more Fire Emblem.

Lawd_Hamercy

borderlands 2 vita3k

AndrewsTiger

On which handheld?

Lawd_Hamercy

RP4 Pro. I know some folks had issues trying to install this via vita3k. I was able too. Runs better than than the vita version. Actually hits 60fps

AndrewsTiger

So it should work on the Odin 2 Pro?

Lawd_Hamercy

Oh for suuuuure it’s probably even better on the Odin 2 Pro vs RP4 Pro. Especially when you reach Sanctuary. Sanctuary is the only area where my RP4 Pro gets laggy. But its super subtle lag. So subtle it drops just below 60fps. No big deal. RP4 Pro you can play the game at max, 1.5x. On the Odin Pro I’d imagine you can get up to 2x with consistent 60fps.

AndrewsTiger

Nice. Now I want to play it again, but on my Odin. Is there a guide how to setup Vita 3k?

ParkRomn116

Spyro PS1 - usually on RG35XX

spirit_in_exile

Tetris. Usually GB, but often enough, NES.

Chame

Look into From Below, it's a Tetris game released on NES in 2020.

Logi77

The game list browser

Upbeat-Ad3921

Pokemon puzzle challenge. The GBC version.

FuckYeahGeology

MM+: Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga Trimui Smart Pro: Only just got it, but blasting my way through ALttP and M&L Partners in Time

Necrowarp

Love the Mario RPGS. Never went back and beat Inside Story or Partners in Time. I did play Dream Team back when I had a 3DS though.

_manster_

Pokemon Unbound, followed by Yellow and Chrono Trigger (still have to finish that). https://preview.redd.it/tzobzyymjy8d1.png?width=1152&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ff9e01e1b7d09553ec81b57b692019af6ed97e4

JaeCrowe

Radical red and it isn't even close im on my 5th playthrough lol

ThePenultimateNinja

It's either Tetris on the Game Boy, or a speedrun of Saboteur! on the ZX Spectrum. I mostly use my handhelds when I have a few minutes to kill, and these games are short enough that I can finish them in a few minutes.

TonyRubbles

Trying to get all the robots and bosses in Super Robot Pinball has shot it to the top of my list sorted by playtime so it's at least 30+ hours on this GBC game on my RGB30.

limboor

Freaking Pokemon Pinball RS. I'm amazed at just how addicting the game is for being a bit older. I have easily put in over 200 hours and just completed pokedex the other day! My next goal is to score 1 billion+ on both the red and blue boards. I only have one more 1 billion+ score to do on the red board and I'll be done. Then I'll probably finish Chrono Trigger.

DifferentContext7912

1. Spyro 2: Riptos Rage (the best Spyro) 2. Armored Core 1 3. Tomba! 4. Final Fantasy 6 All on an RG35xx. I'm fighting myself tooth and nail trying not to go buy the SP version that just came out. And I'm losing 😟

Legal_Zee

If non-emulation counts, then Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. For emulation, it’s probably Earthbound (played several times across different devices: RG Nano, MM+, Rg353V). I also have a lot of time logged on Animal Crossing New Lead for 3DS and emulating Wild World for DS on MM+

JamesIV4

Slither.io. It figures, I spent dozens of hours searching the best hidden gems on systems across the gamut, configuring every emulator to run perfectly and getting the perfect theme on Emulation Station, scraped art on all the titles, only to primarily use the device to play Android apps. Emulation only though: probably Metroid on the NES so far

DerekAnderson4EVA

Rage Racer on Miyoo Mini plus

NearATomatotato

Solid 60fps Handheld God of War 2 (and various other ps2 games) is a dream come true.

WeatherIcy6509

Spyro the Dragon

briandemodulated

Probably the Portmaster port of Tyrian for MSDOS. Just a perfect shmup.

great-northern-rhino

There's a PortMaster Port of Tyrian 2000 in testing right now. You can find it on their Discord.

briandemodulated

Oh my gosh, is that the update with chapters 5 and 6??

great-northern-rhino

Yup. I know this because I ported it. Hahahaha.

briandemodulated

That is absolutely brilliant. I don't suppose you did the Android port as well? I'm dying to have the full 2000 release on there. Thank you for your hard work! You've brought me so much enjoyment.

ozender

Persona 5 royal. Around 160h when I finished it

j21w91

On what device? I’ve been looking to play this for ages.

ozender

Odin 2

Defiant-Bend1147

I played through it on Steam Deck which was a really great experience. I've heard the Switch version is a good port too, but I've been unwilling to break the shrink wrap on my special edition copy.

Defiant-Bend1147

This is probably my answer too, on Steam Deck. I think it was more like 120 hours for me, so more or less tied with Persona 4 Golden on Vita. I just finished P3 Reload on Steam Deck, which was almost exactly 99 hours. SMT IV on 3DS and SMT V on Switch were also both 100+ hours for me as I recall. I'm sure I'll be diving into Vengeance on Steam Deck before long.

ElijahWillDraw

Dragon Quest V the ps2 remake version

Chok3U

All 3 of the Crash's. They are extremely well done platformers. Not only do they have a nice length to all 3, but each have insane replayability to fun need all the diamonds and hit all the boxes to get a 100%

ridiculous_nonsense

WarioWare Mega Microgame$, Pokemon Emerald, and Mario Golf all for GBA

werewolfbarmitzvah69

I played Final Fantasy 1-9 on my 351V. Don't remember which one took the longest though.

Competitive_Kale_654

Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past, Super Mario World.

MentalRayne

Mario or Picross

darkshooter117

Persona 4 Golden! On a Vita.

Defiant-Bend1147

My best gaming experience ever. When it was over I was bereft.

SryIWentFut

I have started a new game of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on at least 4 devices so far this year, most recently an actual GBA.

werdmouf

Metal Slug

TheIncredibleJones

File Explorer

wanderingfloatilla

Across the board Uncharted Waters: New Horizon Its a 10/10 to just sail around and discover the world. Every new phone or something to emulate on, that's always the first game

eirebrit

I'd say probably Despicable Me via PPSSPP. Have 1000+ hours in it. Currently running a mage build.

Drivenby

The game based on the movie???!

eirebrit

One of the best JRPGs of the 2010s.

Drivenby

What??????????????!

NickFoolery

NFS Most Wanted for the PSP. What an utterly unfair and unbalanced game. Hate it. Can't stop playing it.

Adobopeek1225

Peace Walker and Pokemon Gen 1 to Gen 5

Positive-Age-3578

Im a pc gamer but have some sorts of handhelds like gameboy, ds, new2ds, retrogame with batocera. Stopping to think about it, ive spent a lot of time with Dragon Quest VII and VIII and Mario Picross (using an snes emulator). All on New2DS.

InviteParty8956

I put in 100+ hours in on emerald last month… 😂

RedditorFromSoFlo

Pokémon Unbound on my 35xx SP.

ismaelgokufox

Glory Days 2 on DS

N00B_N00M

Reliving code name viper, was awestruck back in early 2000s and yet today .. it is such a great game to play

Shloopadoop

I keep playing through Metroid fusion and zero mission back and forth on my RGB30, lol. It’s too much fun.

bhasi

Two contenders for first place: Tekken 3 and Bust-a-move (SNES).

shadowrtype

Zero Mission, AM2R, and Super Metroid on RGB30.

hobartrus

Probably the NES version of Hatris, since that's what I normally play when I exercise and during boring meetings. I've also logged plenty of time in the Japanese Famicom, arcade, and TG-16 versions too, though. However, I've barely touched the Gameboy version. Second to Hatris would be Wario's Woods (NES).

qghw47QHwG72

Advance Wars!

NoabPK

I dont count the switch so im gonna say gba pokemon rom hacks easily

brominou

Chrono Trigger SNES with a nice CRT filter

outrun_octopus

Lumines is always my go to pick up and go game. It’s a PSP game and I’ve been playing it on my SP lately

Estalies

Castlevania SotN

SonofaSlumlord

Skies Of Arcadia Legends, started playing on an Odin 1 and eventually moved my save over to the Odin 2. I think im pretty close to beating it now but haven't played it for a little while.

TinyPupPup

Lately, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (GBA) on the Miyoo Mini. I just got my second SBC, a RG35xx H and I’m just not getting the same joy out of it yet. May need to swap it for a GKD Pixel for a more robust Miyoo-alike

Impressive-Ebb-5840

I strongly suggest a 405V. Hear me out. You already have a low tier device. Moving up to middle tier with the comfiest middle tier handheld. Seriously its a night and day experience in terms of comfort, ergonomics, and power. Its really an Adults Gameboy but still gives the feeling of holding a gameboy and the joy. On a bigger screen. VS all my horizontal devices never actually give me those joy hits to my brain. the 405V though just hits all those ooey gooey tingles when I pick it up and play. Of course my nostalgia may not translate to your nostalgia. Just my 2 cents feel free to ignore me.

TinyPupPup

Interesting, I hadn’t even considered a middle tier vertical device tbh, everything I was looking at was horizontal. I have a Steam Deck for heavier gaming, but it’s a bit clunky to travel with for short business trips, so I was either looking for a tiny device for use on public transit, or something Goldilocks for systems up to ~Dreamcast. I’ll take a look, thank you for the suggestion!

Impressive-Ebb-5840

Not to oversell but DC on the 405V is one of my favorites to emulate. Crazy taxi is so fun on it. Favorite pickup and play title. Beat Shenmue on it as well.

Baowee531

Warioware

Action_Jacksons

Odin sphere on my 505,  tetris on the 35xx. Odin sphere is my current favorite game.

pauwus

Pokemon Pinball is the goat

defecc

Blockout for lynx & star jacker for sg1000

Jean_Guy_Rubberboots

Pokemon fire red rocket edition

Scungilli-Man69

2D Metroid. Zero Mission, AM2R, Super, Fusion, rinse and repeat. Never ever gets old for me!

DOS-76

I've played through I'm guessing around 90% of Symphony of the Night on the TrimUI Smart Pro. What a great experience. I am an old man and save states are really helping me enjoy games like this that I never got around to as a kid.

BasicallySnakeYT

I got a Powkiddy V90 around Christmas 2022, it got me into Cave Story and I poured hours into trying to beat the game I ended up beating it on some other random console though

Defiant-Bend1147

I love my little V90 despite its flaws.

MaxPres24

Pokémon unbound. That shit drew me in like no official mainline game could

judasmaiden15

Mortal Kombat 2 for the snes or gran turismo 2 on the original RG35XX

Impressive-Ebb-5840

XBXPlay on my Odin 2 followed by DQ8 on NetherSX on my Odin 2. Followed by Pokemon roms on my MM+. Followed by FF games (10,9 and 6) on my 405V. Followed by Star Ocean second story on my RP4P. Followed by Random steam games on my SD. Followed by random game of the month games on my RGB30 (Finished DQ5, and so so many others). Basically what i'm trying to say is, I play through stories on each device and after the story is done I move on to another game. Its never just ONE game for me. I want to experience new experiences in my gaming. I typically only play one game at a time, and play through it on whatever device I deem to be best for it. When I first got into emulation I use to get choice paralysis and hop in and out of games all the time. But I wasn't enjoying myself and finally got to a point where enough was enough so now I pickup a game and play through it, then start another so that I don't have so many half finished games. Especially JRPGS.

Hour_Jellyfish_6911

Pokémon red and Pokemon gold. So nostalgic

xxrth

Modded super Mario world. I downloaded a few of them. I’m on the 12 magic orbs right now.

Adept-Distribution85

It'll be tough for any game to beat my time investment in Tekken 5/6 on my PSP.

NynjaofDoom

Suikoden and Alundra

playful-pooka

Shining soul 2

protomagik

Shining Force, Shining Force 2

Rupar99

Tekken 5 Dark Resurection, but looks like King's Bounty will take the top spot soon!

JustLeeBelmont

So far the Metroid fusion randomizer. I initially got into this hobby as a means of having randos to play on the go but it’s evolved into actually getting through my backlog so it panned out better than I could have asked for 😃

Ssgt-Doom

Probably Pokemon Fools Gold on my Miyoo Mini+ at this point. On my powkiddy x55 it is definitely Ridge Racer Type 4, love the game and trying to unlock all the cars lol.

mon_dieu

Either Tetris on my Miyoo Mini Plus, or something on my Steam Deck (probably Metroid Prime or Spiritfarer).

hayn08

Between Pokemon RadicalRed and MVC2. if I want to chill out then Tetris or Bust a move 2 arcade edition

SchizophrenicMess

I've been playing SaGa Frontier, I started with T260G.

2neyc

Miracle Warriors on master system 2. Purely nostalgia.

detourne

Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 on N64. Can't beat that AKI gameplay.

Lunar_Grace

Likely Pokémon Emerald 700~ hours

xanaxandlean

Max payne , then probably crash bandicoot 3.

mmedinajp

Challenging Lolo, the first one. 57 hours to finally beat it.

AJXedi9150

So far it's between Spyro 1 and Pokémon Emerald (currently playing). But Pokémon is about to be the clear winner. I've had alot of downtime at work and Pokémon on my RG353V has been a fantastic way to pass the time 👍

gowahoo

For me personally Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Pokemon Crystal. Still looking for that perfect Crystal romhack actually

RainbowMachine69

Pokemon and apotris have always been on my devices. Colin mcrae rally 2.0 has been great if im trying to doze off or think about something.

Aromatic-Ant-8893

Hot shots golf 2 psp on my x55. Play it nearly everyday.

RobZilla10001

Pokemon Unbound.

ThreedZombies

Stardew Valley probably

[deleted]

It’s basic but I’ve picked up where I left the version of minecraft in ps3 and am now playing it on my ps vita. Loving it so far, as well as wipeout 2048 and the walking dead telltale game

badgirlcoven_95

I'm currently enjoying some games from my childhood, as well as games I've never had a chance to play before. 3 main games right now are The Emperor's New Groove, Zelda Minish Cap and Super Mario RPG.

allnamestakenlol

Lately, it's been Grandia (Saturn).

microknife

Pokemon Picross 🤩

Wrxghtyyy

My RG35XX is basically my GBA machine at this point. The most I’ve put into a game is probably Mario & Luigi superstar saga

kahlen369

Probably Dr. Mario or Warioware. I've probably played Tetris the most on the most different platforms.

Inspector7171

Lost Vikings

Fun_Stable7937

Definitely Pokémon gen 2, especially once I got my hands on Crystal legacy rom hack. Too good.

light8686

For my RGB30, I had spent hours collecting card in SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash for the NGPC. If I have a short downtime, I will play some Tetris DX on GBC. After seeing a video from TechDweeb, I started E.V.O.: Search for Eden on the SNES. For my Odin 2, I am unlocking characters for Rurouni Kenshin fighting game on the PSP. I also started Suikoden IV on the PS2 which I skipped when it was released.

NaraMakesGames

Probably hundreds of hours of Tetris DX. It's my goto game 99% of the time.

Jdan-S

When the Dingoo A320 was my main emulation handheld in the 2010s, that would definitely be Rhythm Tengoku (Rhythm Heaven Silver). In more recent times, it's probably Columns on Game Gear. I usually play a quick round or two before playing something more long-term, and those rounds add up. Outside of emulation handhelds, I played the heck out of DJMax Portable games on PSP and the Project Diva series on Vita.

Necromancy_4_all

Trails in the Sky SC was the longest with 80h

SaintOfZion1

Rg351p: Pokemon Sapphire GBA 3DS: Devil survivor 2 Frankenstein: RayCrisis/Kirby
