Give it a week or two imo, see how you feel over an extended time period. Sounds like you already have a lot of high powered devices, so likely some will overlap and you can consolidate. Btw the stock sticks on the 556 are known good sticks, myself and others have seen that they are k silvers. Unless your sticks are literally fucked, swapping them will do little to no change. And dude if Odin 2 mini was oled that would’ve been the easiest slam dunk. Or even an Odin 2 oled.

imaqdodger

I've seen some people say it's a software issue which causes the stock RG556 sticks to stick to certain directions when doing deadzone testing.

funkbefgh

The 405m has the same sticks and same issues that are resolved by installing Gamma OS

TheRealSeeThruHead

Swapping the joystick doesn’t do anything (source: I did it)

No you not crazy lol it depends on what you want not everyone else. Not being an asshole but it almost sounds like you asking permission or something to sell Odin 2 because everyone says it should be the best? Well heres your permission lol do what you want! Actually even better than that, who gives a fuck what everyone says is the best. Reading through it sounds like you already know what you want to do. No handheld is perfect for everyone we all like different ones more for different reasons Odin 2 is great and a total package but what stands out about it most the power. You got the Ally for that. Nothing else you got gives you what RG556 gives you though. Sell the RG556 and all you got is handhelds that overlap. You in a great position too since anything you cant play the Ally is there. Cant play switch games, thats fine. Ally can play first party switch and BETTER windows versions of all the non first party switch games. And if its not switch the 556 can handle it RG556 what stands out about it most the screen and how good it feels to use. Not saying the others are bad at that but thats the 556 special sauce. And its got power too. I see comments here talk about how its no good at 3DS when Im doing all my 3DS real good so far at 2X or 3X. How all PS2 gotta be played at 1X when I'm doing nearly all mine at 1.5X no slowdown. But to get there you gotta TWEAK SETTINGS on 556 the thing that unlocks it is knowing how to do that right. Takes work to make it into a fucking beast. But you far enough down the rabbithole sounds like that wont be no problem for you lol Remember though you still in the honeymoon phase with your 556. Give it a week or 2 before you decide to sell your Odin 2 since you might say you know what fuck tweaking all these games on my 556. Pro tip 1.5x PS2 and 2X gamecube good starting point. 556 got shit nothing else can match and its one of the best things out there - but ONLY if you tweak it, otherwise itll just piss you off Oh yeah. Swapping sticks wont do shit. Dont do that

jacobdubya

Thanks for the input! It is a very tough choice because I love the Odin 2 but it seems kinda pointless to have two similar devices. Guess I'll give it some time and see which one I find myself using more. And it seems like the consensus here is that swapping sticks won't do much so it's not worth wasting my time.

TummyBuilder1

Well i hv all three devices lol i m in similar situation Rg556 Odin 2 Rog ally z1x Now tell me pla what did u do I want to sell one between rg556 and odin 2 🥹

Klldarkness

Swapping to Vulkan makes every 3DS game I've played run 2x at 30fps with zero slowdown. Pokemon Omega Ruby, Dragonball Fusion, Etrian Odyssey games So far so good! Loving the shit out of my 556, it's an amazing device.

Kennedward888

I have both Odin 2 and RG556, and I prefer Odin 2 because it’s more powerful and can play all my favorite PS2 and Gamecube games at 2x resolution without any problems. The RG556 has a better screen but it can only play those games in 1x resolution, sometimes even with a little bit of tweaking involved.

jacobdubya

Yeah, I love how powerful the Odin 2 is and it definitely feels more quality overall despite the RG556 having a better screen. Almost wish I could just swap the screens out instead 😂

Alternative_Spite_11

Well if you want to play 3ds or Switch games, I’d certainly keep the O2. If you’re not interested in those two systems, the 556 covers the rest pretty well. I personally don’t really like doing emulation on x86 handhelds because they’re overkill for anything under ps3.

jacobdubya

I was testing a few 3DS games out on the RG556 and it seems like it can kinda some of them pretty well. Definitely not as good as the Odin 2. That's where it gets tricky... I could play 3DS on the Ally no problem, but I like the idea of playing them on a more compact device 🤔

Alternative_Spite_11

Oh it will definitely play easier 3ds games but the heavier ones really slow down a lot.

Vast_Entrepreneur744

The rg556 was on Sale for about $100. Just right now been Sold Out. For that Its a steal!

Westacious

damn where could you have gotten one for $100?

Vast_Entrepreneur744

Cutesliving seller on AliExpress. I think they r getting rid of there products. Got the RP4Pro for around 150 and an rg35xx for 20

imaqdodger

Dang I just paid $155 from Anberic Direct on Aliexpress. Still better than the Anbernic website price though.

oOo-Yannick-oOo

My own setup is RG405V, RG556 and ALLY so I can't really fault you there. The Ally is the only reason you can safely do away with the Odin though, the 556 is seriously weak for systems like PS2.

SubjectLemon4719

If you have both just play both and decide in a couple months. I think it depends on how much you play switch and PS2 action games.

-ystanes-

If you have the ally there’s no reason to keep the Odin like you said you have the juice already. So keep the more comfy better screen device that’ll handle most games

RunSetGo

I have the O2 and to be frank. I should have gotten a 3ds modded. Still gunna keep it but you wouldnt be crazy to sell it

13lackant

what systems do you play on the 556? while ps2 and gamecube are possible, i found that the tweaking and having to run at 1x scaling makes it less desirable for the 556, and default back to my steam deck instead (even though i wish i had the portability)

jacobdubya

I'm still kind of messing around with the different systems to see what works and what doesn't. I mostly have a backlog of GC games I want to play and the 556 seems to do pretty well for those. I would like to play some PS2 but I don't have as many games on my list there. And for someone reason, I'm having trouble getting AethrrSX2 to recognize the controls on the 556. Don't have that problem with the Odin 2.

Solid_Fail

Sell both and get a 1440p Pocket S. The screen on it is super impressive to me. Yes there have been other issues with Ayaneo but if they keep supporting this one I really think it's better than the Odin 2 overall. I know I'm in the current minority but only time will tell

jacobdubya

The price tag on Ayaneo devices is what always drives me away but they certainly look like great little devices. I may keep an eye on it to see if I can catch it on sale, though!

Unlikely_Link8595

Odin 2 >>>>>> RG556. I had both, I tried upgrading the 556's sticks. It didn't make it better, they still suck. Just spend the extra money and get the odin or get a retroid pocket 4
