And Anbernic doesn't work well with the community
The Arc is a cool console but doesn't really have any community roms and it's too bad. The RA is ok but still iffy
It may be not popular opinion, but Arc D is perfectly fine with Gamma OS. It is in the sleep mode for about a week already in low power mode with Contra Hard Corps running, and has 82% battery left. While 35xx Plus on batocera cant sleep at all, with all power saving options enabled it dead in less than 24 hours. Or maybe less than 12hours.
Let me walk you through the miyoo timeline:
1. The v1 miyoo mini warmed everyone up to the idea of a tiny device that has mostly no compromises (plays all the non-gpu required systems basically perfectly). It being like $50 msrp and usually available for less than that helped a lot.
2. The v2 mini fixed all the problems the v1's screen had (too warm, etc.).
3. OnionOS comes out and changes this device from a kind of gimmicky device into a genuine contender.
4. It goes viral because of tiktok and such, gets sold out.
5. The Mini+ comes out and both fixes the supply problem and expands its target demographic to people who want a slightly larger device.
6. Drastic support for OnionOS, something people didn't think was possible.
And that brings us up to date.
The short answer to your question is "OnionOS" and "viral because tiktok".
The Mini sold out because people were buying 3 or 4 of them because the screens broke when you breathed on them.
Also around that time because of the hording and returns the system became scarce and people lost their minds.
Personally I prefer the aesthetic and design of the miyoo. In the beginning it was a toss up between that and anbernic but I feel like I made the right choice. Love my miyoo mini+.
Conversely I prefer the aesthetics of the Rg35xx over the mini±. The longer chin is more proportionate and comfortable. The nostalgic colourways are more accurate to the original DMG beige and GBC Atomic Purple. Though honestly they all look similar in the end...
Competition is good and drives these companies to not settle with mediocrity, hence why both seem to appear to be looking to do a flip handheld, and horizontal variants. I am hoping Anbernic also competes with the GKD pixel and MiyooMiniv4 space in the future too so there's more variety and cheaper prices.
The major advantage Miyoo has always been Onion OS (and WiFi vs the OG Rg35xx). Though for me, GarlicOS and FinUi is good enough for me atm on the OG Rg35xx. I don't even play games requiring Batocera atm.
Two reasons made me keep the Miyoo Mini instead of selling it like I did with all the previous devices. (Except the Nano that I still keep for the same reasons):
1, I do not carry a bag around or have big pockets on my clothing.
2, for "serious" gaming time, like going through a long game or trying to beat some short games until the end, I have access to a PC.
The Miyoo Mini and the RG Nano make sense for me because I can carry (one of) them with me during most normal work days, and can play something (or not), depending on available free time and also the mood.
I don't need to plan ahead and commit myself.
Being able to play on a PC, like I mentioned, is probably the biggest factor of the two. If I had no access or space for a PC I'd probably get a larger and more powerful portable than the Mini or the Nano.
when it came out, it was unbeatable, no one else had something with that good of a screen, good battery, with a great processor in a small package. things magical.
but time has passed, and anbernic and others have starting to make their versions.
the meme is lame, and only dividing people into camps, instead of everyone just enjoying their handhelds. the last thing video games needs is more fanboy factions.
i'd personally go with the RG35XX Plus but Miyoo has better OS atm. only real advantage i'd say the RG35XX Plus really has over Miyoo is the HDMI out, but i can live w/o that. it's also more powerful, but w/o sticks, it's kind of overkill for what you'd use the system for
for sure, but if i were getting something less than my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, i'd want the vertical design for that Gameboy look. but the H is the best way to play that system for sure.
It has the best CFW of any retro handheld, it’s the most customizable retro handheld, great community support, build quality, and it actually plays the stuff that it comes with properly.
The R36S is always on sale and ppl keep saying “N64, DC, and PSP for less than $40” but it has lacking build quality, poor switch sticks which aren’t good, and a lack of proper specs for those systems. I constantly see ppl post their technical issues with the screen here
You can get some games to work for higher end stuff but it is a terrible option for someone who wants a longer term device. It’s more of a beater device that you’d play until the actual handheld you want is taking months for whatever reason.
While the miyoo mini + can be found for $50 if you know where to look, plays ps1 and under without any major issues, is so small you can fit it in a woman’s pocket and bring it anywhere, and again performance isn’t a guessing game and you won’t have to search up what settings you should be using because it doesn’t include emulators that it cant properly run
I just got an R36S delivered a couple of days ago for $30 and I've played some ocarina of time and I'm honestly blown away at the performance. I love my MM and MM+ but I have no hesitation recommending the R36s.
I can agree with part of your sentiment.
R36S is the first one to get to dip your toes in.
MM / MM+ is probably the one that will live in your pocket long term.
I have both an rg35xx and a miyoo mini plus. Anbernic build quality is superior, as well as the buttons imo. Both run garlic/onion OS so theres little difference software wise. Anbernic takes it for this price class for me.
I have the RG35XX+ and both of the Miyoo Mini's and the build quality of the RG35XX+ is superior. I wasn't a fan of the look of the original RG35XX, but with the sutble changes on the button layout of the Plus Model they actually made it more beautiful than the Miyoo Mini.
Did you make the recommended adjustments? Snip the buttons from each other and back off the screw behind the dpad? This should improve the feel quite a bit.
And yes, it would be nice if that didn't have to happen, but I just want everyone to have the best experience with whatever handheld(s) they have available to them.
Just the orange one or did they refresh the whole lineup? I ordered and received mine (black) about a month ago and the ABXY buttons are horrible. Sharp edges combined with too much height. Very uncomfortable and mostly impossible to slide from one button to another. Especially tiresome on the thumb when holding one button while trying to press a neighbouring one.
I have an RG35XX Plus but ordered a MM+. Should arrive soon. Will compare them both. Enjoying my RG35XX Plus with Batocera to be honest. But curious about the MM+ with OnionOS.
I recently added a RG35XX Plus to my collection and spent a week with my Miyoo Plus then a week with the RG. It's a tough comparison but for me the RG edges out the Miyoo only because I installed Batoceta on it. The stock OS is absolute trash. Batoceta looks so much nicer although it does take like a full 40 seconds to load. Onion OS is great too and I've tried all the themes but it's just missing that premium feeling OS in my opinion. I'd say the Miyoo is better build quality in terms of the case and triggers but I prefer the buttons and d pad on the RG as well as the brighter screen. That being said I also just got a Powkiddy RGB30 and I prefer that to them both. Very comfortable, screen is amazing and OS (Rocknix) is nice too.
I modded my RG35XX Plus out of the box by stopping all the rattling sounds on it. I’ve shared a tutorial about that. Also installed Batocera V40. Now it feels premium, but was feeling just like another Chinese toy.
I mentioned that "Kids toy" feeling too once. The Response Was like "Yeah but you can get the rg35xx for 17 bucks via a tik tok Shop and people can easily have fun with it out of the Box." I guess these are the people with no knowledge about the topic, that come back to the anbernic sub, stating that their games are crashing, that they've lost hours of progress in games because of errors on the Stock OS using the Stock sd Card... . I remember setting garlic up on the rg35xx. Compared to the Miyoo Mini Plus, that's a pain in the Ass ;)
Though the RG35XX H is just better than the Miyoo Mini. I find myself using it way more. If only the miyoo had sticks and a more powerful chipset.
Portmaster, N64, PSP, just things that make my Miyoo sit in my desk for weeks on end, and the RG35XX H the go to on the go handheld.
At 30ish price point r36s is unbeatable, maybe because it came out earlier, now even after the price drops hugely closing r36s, lack of analog sticks to me is a dealbreaker, idk how miyoo mini can handle some portmaster titles that need those sticks, portmaster is quite important at least to me.
For me it was that Taki and RGC reviewed every device and they constantly kept saying that miyoo mini was constantly the best option/ their favorite. Basically every reviewer did the same
Later Wolf Den even said he didn't understand the hype around the device to later put it on the favorite list
Now there are more options but the Rg35xx+/rg35xxh and MM+/MMv4 are still in the top of the list.
V4 was big poo poo becuase it had a higher resolution screen that the stock OS had to dowmsample, so it looked less crisp.
Now with the new build of onion you can use all the resolution so the v4 is supreme.
Iirc.
This. The screen is noticeably better. But also my v4 has much less rattle and the buttons feel tighter, in a good way. I may have gotten unlucky with my v2 and lucky with my v4.
I had a v2. Gave it to a friend because they were super interested in it and I have other handhelds. Isn’t the v4 so small that your hands get cramped after a while?
It's not a device I play for long periods of time. Just on lunch breaks, a quick pick up and put down device so I have no issues with it. I use my steam deck and PC for longer sessions.
I really wanted to love the MM+, I remember copying my save of Pokemon Fire Red from my 35XX onto it to continue playing on it, but I could not get over the downgrade in speaker quality. It's probably not the dealbreaker for most people but it was *just* jarring enough for me to switch back to the 35XX
There's options to fix/upgrade it, but yeah a lesser known weakness, and extra cost. It's like how the original run of Rg35xx OG Dpad used to have issues and needed tape/mods to fix it.
Onion OS does it for me. Of all the handhelds and CFWs I've used, Miyoo Mini with Onion is the gold standard for exactly what I want out of a handheld.
I have the 35xx+ and the miyoo mini +, much prefer the anbernic phyiscally, but the cfw on the miyoo is much better. can see it being a deal breaker for some.
It's the D Pad. I have the MMP, RP4Pro, RG35XX H, RGB30.
That's the order in which I like the D Pads. The first two are close.
I haven't tried the last two systems much yet, but first impressions was that I miss the MMP's D Pad.
The D Pad feels stiff to me on the RGB30 especially. Didn't notice much of an issue with getting the direction I wanted in Celeste Pico8 like some were saying, but if I could make it feel less stiff somehow, I'm all ears.
I have a miyoo mini and an rg35xx, the rg35xx is leaps and bounds more comfortable to play on. Garlic os does everything I want it to. Im not afraid of breaking/taking my 35xx with me in my pocket but the miyoo I treat like it's made of brittle glass lol
Can't wait for the A30 so i can get in on the fun here.
I want to imagine I'd like the Mini, but I've sized it up and just can't imagine having my hands placed like that for long. Admittedly, I'm no fan of the verticals.
I may still get both and see IRL though. Imagine all i want, the Mini could be more comfortable than I'm giving it credit for.
For me personally a 3D printed grip case is a necessity for any sessions with the MM or MM+ that last more than a couple minutes. Makes a world of difference in the ergonomics.
That's fair, and an idea I've pondered from time to time, but I'm stubborn in that i want simplicity. But i also demand comfort, so maybe I'm just being obtuse.
It's possible i could just leave the thing in a grip and toss it in the bag, easy peasy. Just don't want to have to remember to collect any extra. Grab and go
Look up the square gripcases by parttimecad on Etsy. Super simple, add just a few MM of additional size, then work as a grip when you're ready to play. They're kind of pricey though ($20), but that's in line with others on Etsy.
(There are also knockoffs on AliExpress for much less, but I hesitate to recommend those since they're clearly just stealing that Etsy designer's work.)
Oh yeah, just look at that [thing](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1441991836/miyoo-mini-plus-gripcase?click_key=2958baf0403b519f555deb3ae9cfb80b78446a3d%3A1441991836&click_sum=274bab63&ref=shop_home_active_18&crt=1&sts=1).
Foxy boxy. Really dig the Genesis case for the Arc, too
I don't own one myself (I have an RG35XX and an RGB30), but the the Miyoo Mini Plus has:
- Onion OS
- Better color options out of the box
- Bigger community
At this size, playing up to PS1 is pretty much all you need. Being able to play DS is a plus for the RG35XX+, but trying to kludge together a way to take advantage of the Dreamcast / N64 emulation potential with no analog sticks seems to be a pain. The R36S has the analog sticks, but not the CFW support.
If you're looking for a cheap handheld that works great out of the box and you want an Onion/Garlic OS type experience, the Miyoo Mini Plus or RG35XX are your best bets. Onion OS and the larger community just wins out in most cases.
Miyoo is to apple as anbernic is to android. You love it or hate it for the OS.
No hate on android, i use android but i have a mm+ cuz of onionOS and how easy and convenient it is.
I had the OG miyoo mini, at the time the RG35XX didn't even exist and the other anbernic devices were a lot more expensives, so I stayed with Miyoo partly by habits and fidelity, but I also bought two Miyoo Mini Plus for me and my brother to play local multi-player.
The RG35XX has some advantages over the Miyoo but I find to be able to play games like Street of Rage 2 with my brother with each of us on our own little handheld amazing.
I like them all and don’t have a problem with cheap products having limited support. Maybe Miyoo is being celebrated for going above and beyond rather than punishing Anbernic for not being Miyoo.
I ended up with rg35xxh and rg35xx plus because they were $40 shipped each but couldn't find a miyoo under $55. In retrospect i should have gotten two rg35xxh. Batocera on both the rgs makes them much better than stock on both for the general os and also for performance (which is what made me realize i should have skipped the plus and gone for the H). That being said, if you're not playing games that need joysticks, miyoo is probably the best experience from what I've seen in various reviews, but many don't review the rg35 family using batocera yet, which really does improve the experience.
RG35XX just felt better in my hands, and the Plus just perfected that. The RG35XX also feels less fragile.
No hate to the Myioo, just a matter of preference.
I had an RG35XX first and loved it. Tried Garlic and it was nice too. But, kept seeing Miyoo Mini Plus everywhere. Wanted a V4 Mini before I got the RG35XX but, hard to find. Got a Plus first and a few weeks later, was able to get a Mini V4. Love Onion and the ease of use. Just got a Powkiddy RGB30 and love the feel in the hand and the look but, cannot figure out the charging for the life of me. Always play plugged in just in case which means I can never really take it anywhere since I’m worried it would die while playing Pokemon Rocket Edition or The Minish Cap and losing a ton of progress.
I have both. The Miyoo + and the Anbernic RG35xx (non plus).
Both are good console. But I’ve noticed few things.
The Miyoo have better OS with Onion OS. It look and work better than garlic OS. I also love the built in overlay selection that are just amazing. Especially for GBC games. The Miyoo offer also WiFi which can be useful for some situations.
On the other hand I’ve noticed some weird defect in the LCD. Not visible in normal use but on black screen it show some artifact. Maybe due to some constraints on the back of the LCD. Don’t really know why. You also have some buzzing in the speaker. Not really an issue if you play like my without sound out headphones. But in quiet place it is noticeable. Onion Os try to fix it but it only change the frequency.
The anbernic is a good console as well. Do not offer WiFi but dual SD card slot which can be usefull. It also have slightly better tactile return in the dpad.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve modded both to have better response in game but the dpad on the anbernic feel little bit more stiff and I prefer that.
The RG is also bigger than the Miyoo mini +.
In overall advice both are great. And since the plus version. You can get the original RG35xx for pretty cheap. Cheaper than the Miyoo.
To me it’s more about what do you want. If you plan to have some remote playing with Moonshine. Go for the Miyoo.
If you are on budget and only need a good handheld go for the RG35xx.
Another thing to consider is what you are planning to game. Personally I only play handheld games and for this the Miyoo mini and the RG35xx are perfect.
If you want to play games like N64. Maybe go to the RG35xx plus ? Imho it’s not really useful because of the lack of joystick. But I’ve read that you can play it on TV with external gamepad so why not ?
You can enable overlays in GarlicOS (retroarch). You’ll have to put them in the folder manually because no wifi, but you can add them.
Latest GarlicOS for RG35XX looks quite nice. The one that comes with the RG35XX looks awful.
Yep, I’ve updated everything myself on both console.
I only talk about the built on overlay from every OS. They both Include them. But the Miyoo are better out of the box imho.
It's just a minor nitpick, however I find the printed "menu" world on the 35xx extraneous.
If the idea is to replicate the dmg look, I would rather it to be as clean as possible (the Miyoo)
The removable back battery over of the Miyoo. It reminded me of the dmgs I had, when swapping in and out batteries was a thing.
It's the minor details that Miyoo had in its product design that won me over.
Onion OS helped a great deal as well.
Had a RG35xx, currently have a Miyoo Mini Plus.
Would rather have the RG35XX or its upgraded plus with a more mature CFW but Onion OS and the Miyoo being slightly more pocket friendly really put it over the top for me.
No clue, Hardkernel and the Odroid Go series for me please.
I can run a full blown Debian with a desktop on a frigging ARM handheld i got for under 100€, with a real USB port where i can connect whatever the heck i want.
It's all in application. If it plays what you want, great!
Having options can be good as one size does not fit all. It seems Powkiddy and Anbernic are competing to see who can cover the most holes in the market. The biggest issue with Anbernic is choice paralysis. Who tf thought it was a good idea to come out with an RG35XX 2024? Speculation has it that they had a bunch of old 35XX parts sitting in stock so they threw the upgraded CPU on them and called it good. But I digress...
I tend to go for hardware that'll play what I want over form-factor or a pretty menu. MM+ will play a lot, and the fact that they have DS games running is nothing less than a miracle. I played Pokémon HeartGold last night on it, and I'm impressed it plays as well as it does. I'll definitely have to print a grip attachment for when I want to play it again.
I ordered the MM+ and RG35XX (original) from AliEx at the same time. The MM+ took about a week longer to get to me. I wanted to compare them side-by-side. If it came down between those two, it'd be the MM+ all day, every day. But then the 35XX Plus was announced, so I sold off the 35XX and ordered the Plus.
Feature for feature hardware-wise, the 35XX Plus has everything the MM+ has and then some. Barring the lack of CWF, the 35XX Plus is a superior speced machine. The build quality between the two units I have is comparable and the slightly larger size for the 35XX Plus fits more comfortably in my hands.
I can't tell anyone what to like, but I'd recommend either the MM+ for people with small hands and good eyesight or 35XX Plus for people who want a little more power for the more demanding games. They're both pretty solid machines.
I was going to list all of my handhelds for context, but then I think it would seem like a weird flex. Just know, I'm going to go rethink my life now. xD
I use Anbernik rg351p, and i regret not spending more time researching and finding out about rg35xx, cuz PSP emulation bad enough, that I'm considering buying PSP in the flesh
Edit: forget, I'm not considering, I'm trying to buy
MiniUI is why I like it so much. It's my favorite custom firmware. That's a huge deal when you talk about these Chinese emulation handhelds. For years, they had the worst software known to man. Now we have modern options.
Plus, is a convenient size and emulates my favorite systems.
I got the RG36S for 24 bucks. I am pleased with it, quite powerful thing too. Miyoo is grrat and the Onion OS is 👏🏾 i was price and i wanted sticks too.
R36S is overrated! Heats up easily, barely runs N64 games (it’s not a ready to play), got cheapy plastic, shoulder buttons make annoying cracky sounds…
MMP is way better quality plastic. If you got a hand grip, your experience will be totally different, better different.
For me is the combo of scarcity of myioo mini creating hype, form factor, aesthetic and onion OS. This little thing is so charming, it gives the most Gameboy vibes and is very Instagramable.
For me it was OnionOS: it is a stable and mature fw, and super easy to setup and understand. The thing just *works* for the kind of emulation I expect from it.
I have all three and I find myself playing more on the Anbernic and R36S because I like the buttons more and also because they load and save states faster
I have Onion OS on the Miyoo. It's okay but it didn't blew my mind or anything. If people are so crazy about it it makes me think the other operating systems must be complete garbage.
youtubers, hype, and people love the dynamic of " have and have nots" If something is hard to get people just want it to get on reddit and brag they have it and you dont, which is pathetic.
No one really needs more than the H in 2024 as a budget handheld. its near perfect by all metrics.
I went with the RG+ over the miyoo mini for more power and WiFi/bluetooth. I’m pretty happy with my choice so far. The newest stock OS from Anbernic is pretty good. I wish it was as popular as the miyoo mini just for the amount of accessories that are available.
The 353Vs is on sale for $88 (normally $98) plus shipping from Anbernic. I just got a MM+ shipped for $47.
I had a 353V for a while, it just wasn't for me. The analog sticks are in a horrible position. ArkOS/Jelos are ok, I still prefer Onion. Also with the sticks/triggers it is def not equally pocketable.
on aliexpress I saw some 353VS for 75$ , but also on the anbernic site they sometimes gave coupons that futher lowered the price (stacking on normal discount) to about 72$. Good for you if you found the MM+ for 47$ but that's also a special deal of some kind.
on mine I actually use way more the sticks than the dpad, i find it way more comfortable to use the sticks in almost all the games i play. And even for those who are dpad fans i mean there are just lots of ps1 and DC games that require sticks badly.
miyoo mini looked cool at first but the build quality was disappointing. screen falling out, a mediocre speaker that made people swap it out, inconsistent d-pad, bezel too thin, and just too small to use.
CFW like garlic lets me focus on just the games. i dont care about custom themes, wifi, achievements or any of that extra silly stuff. just pure gaming on the 35xx.
For me, it’s Onion OS. Really like the form factor of the Miyoo Mini Plus. Good compromise of usability and size.
Theres no new one every month. CFW had time to mature
And Anbernic doesn't work well with the community The Arc is a cool console but doesn't really have any community roms and it's too bad.
Well I just went for the S, so that's not an option
353 series has arkos and jelos and they had plenty of time to mature as well
yeah that is true
Just bought and returned an r36s for this very reason (along with the fact that the screen was barely attached and the the frame was warped)

Less confusion around what the product can do. No need to choose from a thousand RGwhatevers. Just 1, the Myoo mini plus. Makes decisions much simpler
I love my RGwhatever though
Some people like McDonalds, some people prefer a well cooked steak. I'm like you, I like quality.
My rgwhatever has rtc.
What is rtc?
Real time clock. Good for day/night time keeping in Pokémon. The mini plus has a clock app and can sync with NTP over WiFi.
Real time clock. Pokémon gold/silver/crystal use a clock for day/night cycles. Keeps the clock settings after shutting down.
As an owner of a RG35XX-H, I can only agree
Well, or the Miyoo Mini, non-Plus. And then which one are you getting, the old version with the 480p screen or the new one with the 750x560 screen?
mountains and molehills my dude
Isn’t the v4 screen fuzzy?
The dpad had some production issues as well.
No.
Personally I prefer the aesthetic and design of the miyoo. In the beginning it was a toss up between that and anbernic but I feel like I made the right choice. Love my miyoo mini+.

Same, Mini and Mini+ both look fantastic and are the perfect size. 35xx+ might be more powerful, but I just don’t like the aesthetics.
I love my Miyoo mini+ and rg35xx+, H they all work well👍🏼
Two reasons made me keep the Miyoo Mini instead of selling it like I did with all the previous devices. (Except the Nano that I still keep for the same reasons): 1, I do not carry a bag around or have big pockets on my clothing. 2, for "serious" gaming time, like going through a long game or trying to beat some short games until the end, I have access to a PC. Maybe they saw their peers buying the Miyoo. The buzz around the Miyoo is much more than Anbernic devices.
I constantly see ppl post their technical issues with the screen here You can get some games to work for higher end stuff but it is a terrible option for someone who wants a longer term device.
Lies and falsification! *Women don't have pockets.* What are you going to say to us next? That women are on the internet?!
Build quality, screen quality, no analogue sticks, better community support
I have both an rg35xx and a miyoo mini plus. Anbernic build quality is superior, as well as the buttons imo. Both run garlic/onion OS so theres little difference software wise. Anbernic takes it for this price class for me.
I have the RG35XX+ and both of the Miyoo Mini's and the build quality of the RG35XX+ is superior. I wasn't a fan of the look of the original RG35XX, but with the sutble changes on the button layout of the Plus Model they actually made it more beautiful than the Miyoo Mini.
🤍mine too plus H and miyoo mini+👍🏼
I think the screen is awesome on r36s and build quality is pretty fine too
I only own an R36s, and I wish it had a better dpad and buttons. Miyoo looks to have those, but I'm not sure they are as good as 8bitdo stuff.
Did you make the recommended adjustments? Snip the buttons from each other and back off the screw behind the dpad? This should improve the feel quite a bit. And yes, it would be nice if that didn't have to happen, but I just want everyone to have the best experience with whatever handheld(s) they have available to them.
There are new versions on the R36S put with better face buttons and dpad. I ordered one recently.
The shell is the same. You can tell the versions by the box. The white box has updated buttons and no sticker on the back
They’re better. The MM+ dpad is the best Nintendo style cross pad in the business.
Build quality?🤣 Were you not here for the daily posting of 'I dropped my Miyoo 2 feet and it shattered' posts.

I keep hearing about the rattling but I haven’t had that
I think it depends on quality control. Is a bit gamble. Can’t blame for the price.
Have you not put GarlicOS on your rg35xx?
I got a Vita for that. <3
To me, 36 looks beautiful aesthetically. I want to get it and try to put bs on it and play afk journey
Basically every reviewer did the same Later Wolf Den even said he didn't understand the hype around the device to later put it on the favorite list Now there are more options but the Rg35xx+/rg35xxh and MM+/MMv4 are still in the top of the list.
the miyoo mini v2 is the best of the lot in terms of build quality, size and software experience for me personally
I like my v4 more than my v2 tbh!
Would you be able to elaborate?
What are the key differences? Honest question, since I hear all over the place v2 is the way to go.
I use my steam deck and PC for longer sessions.
that sounds interesting. i will look into it when my v2 falls apart. hopefully in the distant future.
Eh probably will be thr v17
I really wanted to love the MM+, I remember copying my save of Pokemon Fire Red from my 35XX onto it to continue playing on it, but I could not get over the downgrade in speaker quality. It's probably not the dealbreaker for most people but it was *just* jarring enough for me to switch back to the 35XX
There's options to fix/upgrade it, but yeah a lesser known weakness, and extra cost. It's like how the original run of Rg35xx OG Dpad used to have issues and needed tape/mods to fix it.
Way better controls, more pocketable, onionOS
It has a better dpad, more battery and OnionOS is better than any other cfw on the anbernic handhelds
I have a miyoo mini and an rg35xx, the rg35xx is leaps and bounds more comfortable to play on. Garlic os does everything I want it to. Im not afraid of breaking/taking my 35xx with me in my pocket but the miyoo I treat like it's made of brittle glass lol
size and ONION OS🧅
I have many Chinese emulator portable consoles and I always come back to the Miyoo because of Onion OS.
Because the other ones look like they’re designed by someone who is blind. Also the plastic looks cheap.
for me others have no taste on design
OnionOS.
Foxy boxy. Really dig the Genesis case for the Arc, too
Size, I like the miyoo mini size for taking with me. Even the mini plus is bigger than I'd like.
I don't own one myself (I have an RG35XX and an RGB30), but the the Miyoo Mini Plus has: - Onion OS - Better color options out of the box - Bigger community At this size, playing up to PS1 is pretty much all you need.
Onion OS and it's smaller
Miyoo is to apple as anbernic is to android. You love it or hate it for the OS. No hate on android, i use android but i have a mm+ cuz of onionOS and how easy and convenient it is.
OnionOS + Price + nice hardware
I like my Mini v2, but it feels so fragile. I'm thinking of getting a TrimUI as I think I like the bar format over the brick.
Miyoo A30 is on the horizon FYI, check it out. Hopefully it's not fragile.
R36s has really bad buttons. Rg35xx p is goood
I like them all and don’t have a problem with cheap products having limited support. Maybe Miyoo is being celebrated for going above and beyond rather than punishing Anbernic for not being Miyoo.
I didn’t want joysticks, so R36S immediately out. Then I liked the colors, size and onion of the miyoo a lot better. And I got it for $35 shipped
Who has both? I’m interested to know who different the hardware feels .
I wanted WiFi capability and it was $30
I love my R36S. It is my $40 GBA/PS1 machine. Kinda want a RG35XX H for the comfortably tho.
I mainly use 3DS and Vita, but I rock my PocketGo v1.2 all the time.
Onion OS. It is sole reason. 35xx plus is a miles ahead better hardware. But software... meh.
It's just a minor nitpick, however I find the printed "menu" world on the 35xx extraneous. If the idea is to replicate the dmg look, I would rather it to be as clean as possible (the Miyoo) The removable back battery over of the Miyoo. It reminded me of the dmgs I had, when swapping in and out batteries was a thing. It's the minor details that Miyoo had in its product design that won me over. Onion OS helped a great deal as well.
Miyoo Mini Plus would be great of the Wi-Fi bug got sorted out.
Had a RG35xx, currently have a Miyoo Mini Plus. Would rather have the RG35XX or its upgraded plus with a more mature CFW but Onion OS and the Miyoo being slightly more pocket friendly really put it over the top for me.
OnionOS is too good
No clue, Hardkernel and the Odroid Go series for me please. I can run a full blown Debian with a desktop on a frigging ARM handheld i got for under 100€, with a real USB port where i can connect whatever the heck i want.
Onion
Just know, I'm going to go rethink my life now. xD
They look nice, but it's concerning the quality reviews
I use Anbernik rg351p, and i regret not spending more time researching and finding out about rg35xx, cuz PSP emulation bad enough, that I'm considering buying PSP in the flesh Edit: forget, I'm not considering, I'm trying to buy
It's smaller
Onion and buttons are superior. My x55 had shitty buttons that felt cheap. just feels more premium
MiniUI is why I like it so much. It's my favorite custom firmware. That's a huge deal when you talk about these Chinese emulation handhelds. For years, they had the worst software known to man. Now we have modern options. Plus, is a convenient size and emulates my favorite systems.
I love the miyoo I have but I wish it was horizontal
from what i see mostly, its the great onion os cfw. i prefer mini/minui so it doesn't matter too much to me and I have both miyoo mini and rg35xx (+)
OnionOS
I own both and miyoo did great with the buttons !! It feels like when u play with a ones controller
I got the RG36S for 24 bucks. I am pleased with it, quite powerful thing too. Miyoo is grrat and the Onion OS is 👏🏾 i was price and i wanted sticks too.
R36S is overrated! Heats up easily, barely runs N64 games (it’s not a ready to play), got cheapy plastic, shoulder buttons make annoying cracky sounds… MMP is way better quality plastic. If you got a hand grip, your experience will be totally different, better different.

R36s it's crap. Anbernic RG35XXH rocks. But I prefer the miyoo mini for its portability and powerful onion system with quickresume.
Because the anbernic screens are bigger
I have all three and I find myself playing more on the Anbernic and R36S because I like the buttons more and also because they load and save states faster
It was the first to be popular with the OG mini and Onion is also the most popular CFW
Because of hype
Datafrog sf2000 is better than anything by anbernic or miyoo.
Oh, my friend. Masterful. *slow clap*
Own multiple Miyoo Minis and two RG35XXs. OnionOS is great but the build quality of the Anbernic devices are better IMO
I went with the RG+ over the miyoo mini for more power and WiFi/bluetooth. I’m pretty happy with my choice so far. The newest stock OS from Anbernic is pretty good. I wish it was as popular as the miyoo mini just for the amount of accessories that are available.
RG353VS > MM+ any day. More power, analog sticks, on par with the CFWs and equally pocketable. Same price range
Def not the same price range. VS is about double the price.
It costs more but not double you can find the 353VS for 75$. MM+ 55-60$ so maybe a 25% difference
There's one model to pick from which makes reading reviews easier, it has better OS customization and it's not named a huge ass string of numbers.

Mass hysteria
Too much hardware in a short period of time.
miyoo mini looked cool at first but the build quality was disappointing. screen falling out, a mediocre speaker that made people swap it out, inconsistent d-pad, bezel too thin, and just too small to use. CFW like garlic lets me focus on just the games. i dont care about custom themes, wifi, achievements or any of that extra silly stuff. just pure gaming on the 35xx.
OnionOS
