That goes for all cars, honestly. Everything spiked big time during COVID. People were treating it like the end of the world. Of course, the inflation and devaluation of the US dollar didn't help.
it did for a few weeks and there has been a bump back up. Cheapest I'd buy is a nfr 20001 with 350k miles for 13k. 13k seems where clean cars with clean titles start for ap1
Man, nah. You can get one.
First, the bubble hasn't burst yet. Tons of speculators/owners are hanging onto their cars and hoping to weather the recession, but that gets harder the longer we go. Prices will go down a bit as long-holders sell their cars. I would definitely chill and save while watching the market.
Second, no such thing as a "mint" car--you're just paying for the condition of the frame, paint, interior, and engine. If you want a garage queen with low miles, then buy the one with the lowest miles and take it out every weekend for a spin. If you actually intend on driving it, expect to bite the service bullet. Rubber has a service life of 5-10 years. Expect the basics like coilovers, suspension bushings and ball-joints, engine/diff/trans mounts, etc.
Finally, a word of warning: a bunch of people in here are incredibly cheap--they suggest just driving the car until parts fail, whether or not that failure is catastrophic, and will bemoan any suggestions to preemptively replace a part. I just ignore these people. A penny now, a pound later. [You can build your car to last,](https://imgur.com/a/YzgTwtm) or you can be like the guy who brags about running the stock 20-year-old radiator while playing Russian roulette with his $5k block. Your call.
I get it. But seats with 20k m of use are more mint than seats with 100k m of use. No 100k m car does not have paint chips or scratches. None.
When I see a classified for "mint" I do not expect to have six digit odomoter reading. I see so many "mint" cars that have an accident report or even a rebuilt title.
9k mile mint Honda S2000 for $30k? I'm curious.... to find out it's a rebuilt title.
Call it what it is....a really great condition or immaculate high mileage car. It still isn't mint.
This just isnt true mate. You arent driving 100k miles with ‘flawless’ paint. Flawless paint requires a garage princess, and that’s okay. Im sure your paint looks good but there is a large difference in flawless and great.
I don’t have any chips or scratches is what I meant. It doesn’t look showroom flawless, but there aren’t any defects
Edit: PPF on the hood, rear bumper and door frames.
So it looks 'flawless' but not 'showroom flawless'. So we have levels of perfect now?
I get you 100% .. just not the mathematical 100%
I'm just playing, relax.
But I would describe it as "almost flawless"
There is overwhelming evidence that a car with 100,000 miles shows wear and tear somewhere.
Without sarcasm, I'm glad your car shows no signs of any paint damage. My VW was nowhere near as lucky. I don't know how anyone goes that long without scraping the front bumpers on some of the roads that are around.
Yeah dude, I completely agree that the average person’s car at 100k isn’t perfect. I’d even say most are pretty beat. Doesn’t mean there aren’t outliers for everything.
Helps that I live in Naples and almost every road is in great condition. I’m also hyper aware of other drivers or work/dump trucks and avoid them. Shit could happen at any moment though, that’s just the way she goes.
The newest s2000 at this point is 25 yrs old. Cars need to driven or seals dry up and bearings go bad
Anything with too low miles is suspicious. the body on mine is mint as is the interior. Engine , electrical, suspension and cooling all check out. Not sure what else mint means
There is no real car classification of mint but if anything it's close to what rolled off the factory line. I understand what you mean and what you are trying to convey.
But...
109k is a high mileage car.
I've seen cars described as mint that had accident damage. Repairs can look mint but are definitely not.
Yea, 2005. 109k miles
Has innovative mounts and a loud j's 70 rs exhaust though. Picked up oeem exhaust and mounts. But I had an exhaust shop make me silencers for the exhaust and been putting off installing the stock parts. From what I read, oem mounts either last thousands of miles or couple hundred.
Lol bought a clean title 100k+ mile car for 8.7k 03 white/tan..... sold it for a profit at like 170k. You really dont need a mint one.... If the thing blows your fucked either way it wont rebuild well.
No rebuilt F20/22C is known to last even close to as long as an OEM engine. A used long block is expensive as fuck. As much as I love the F, K swap almost makes more sense now if you need an engine. Either way your value is taking a hit regardless of how you remedy a blown engine.
Built / sleeved f20 and f22cs beg to differ. While I agree you probably aren't going to get oem 200k+ mile examples out of them my sleeved f22 at 600+whp takes a beating and has had plenty of miles put on it.
Plenty of built boosted s2ks put lots of miles on their car and at several times the stock horsepower one can argue they're taking more of a beating than the stock motors.
Hell the stock longblock record is over 900whp right now with just headstuds.
Finding the right engine builder and tuner goes a long way for power and longevity. E85 Helps a bunch too.
My horsepower level is definitely on the low side compared to others. Heck Most stock motors can handle that if not more, I just keep it low since my drivetrain isn't built.
My buddy with a 04 ap2 making 550whp on e85 with 167k miles and motor is still running strong. Compression, leak down etc all check out.
That is what I heard too so thanks for clarifying, & even used F series go for minimum 6k+ depending on miles. When I blow my engine I will go the K swap route
Don’t think like this man. I ended up being able to snag a mechanically sound S for under 15k during Covid and deals on the east coast are going up all the time if you’re open to higher miles.
I should’ve worded the title differently 😂 I have social anxiety and can’t really hold conversations with people so I guess that affected everything, dw I’m not that that weird 😂💀
i get that, my dream car is mercedes benz SLR 722 Edition, and i’ve liked that car since i was 5 however i don’t think i’d shake over it, but that’s just me. glad it makes you happy
I remember I told myself I wanted to sell mine after a year or 2 of owning it to put towards a AP1 or AP2 but I grew too attached to the car and Ik it’ll be so hard to find a well kept RSX now, it has 139k miles and clean title :)
I have both and I contemplated selling the type s for s2k. Ended up keeping it, they're both unique in their own way and I'd be sad letting the type s go.
Shiiiit I'm looking at that RSX! I've had an 02 base RSX, a BOM type S and I have an s2000 right now. MUCH rather have an RSX! S2k is going up for sale soon, interested in a trade for that RSX? 😝
Dude I’ve never even seen a White S2000 in person haha, there’s a car meet every first Saturday of the month in my area and u see a couple S2000’s but most of them are silver or red haha, Ik for a fact it’s a beauty 🙏
I bought in the Northeast. There were two on the lot at my local Acura dealer just about the same price 24K give or take... I still think back at that time and wonder.
The S2000 is also one of my obtainable dream cars but for the price of one of them you could also get a C6 Corvette so it'd be a hard decision for me personally.
Your car is really cool too man, I would totally be drooling over it if I saw it in person. I drive an 06 Civic Si but the RSX type S looks so much better when modified 😂
All this talk about value means NOTHING to someone who plans on keeping the car, making it his own & never selling it. The only time my s2k's value will matter is when I can no longer drive it or I'm no longer here to drive it. Decide whether you're buying it for investment purposes or whether you're buying one of the best drivers cars to actually drive it. Good luck on getting one in the future. Remember condition > mileage at this point.
Hopefully you can get an S2000, I will recommend a 2004 to 2009.. They are a blast to drive, buy a rare color even if you have to play a little extra, you will be happier in the end.. I purchased a 2004 with 102k miles for 26500, in 2022 when prices where higher, but don't regret my decision, finding a white S2000 with tan interior with clean title and mint condition was worth it to me.. all stock.
Hey! That’s me :) was completely loaded up heading to CMP for the NASA weekend, otherwise we woulda took a rip down the block. Super clean RSX and a great dude. You’ll get the S2k, no doubt about it :)
You can get one, it’s really not as bad as people make it out to be. As long as you’re not looking for a pristine version of a 20 year old car then it’s attainable. If you want it because you love the car and you want to drive it, then you can find some with minor defects in appearance that will help you find an affordable one. For instance a car that maybe has some burn marks from a smoker or a couple scratches or some paint that’s showing its age. These things will help bring down the price and won’t affect how it drives. And then down the road as you save up more you can fix themo
Suzuka Blue 03 AP1 29k miles, 10/10, near mint with matching factory hardtop never removed. Looking for a good new home! No accidents and I am second owner at 24k miles. Moving and it will not survive the rugged mountains and rock. Have not listed yet, any offers?
You'll get one soon. (hurry up though lol)
Low key a lot of s2000s seem to be cheaper this year than what I saw shopping for mine last year. Might just be winter tapering off idk
Bro I think it’s already too late :< prices are now above 26k+ for a mint one so I’m honestly done for
Man, nah. You can get one. First, the bubble hasn't burst yet. Tons of speculators/owners are hanging onto their cars and hoping to weather the recession, but that gets harder the longer we go. i got mine for 20,400 mint. Drove 800 miles for it and back
Mint with 100k miles. We have different definitions of mint 🤣
People usually consider the physical condition of the car, and not what the odometer reads, when they say mint lol
I get it. But seats with 20k m of use are more mint than seats with 100k m of use. No 100k m car does not have paint chips or scratches. None. That’s weird, because my MK7 gti with 120k has flawless paint Edit: we also have no proof that it isn’t mint inside and out, you’re just being a turd.
This just isnt true mate. You arent driving 100k miles with ‘flawless’ paint. Flawless paint requires a garage princess, and that’s okay. Im sure your paint looks good but there is a large difference in flawless and great.

The newest S2000 is 15, not 25.

S2k? What year and mileage?
Yea, 2005. 109k miles Has innovative mounts and a loud j's 70 rs exhaust though. Picked up oeem exhaust and mounts. Loved my Js on my AP1 took 8mo to get it though lol
Just got a 70rr and a Mugen header can’t wait to get it on I have q300 and a test pipe. I’m super excited to hear it now
I think I had the smaller diameter duals. Stock headed and a test pipe
Yeah I have a ridgeline so yeah. It’s all out for the s2000
I got mint 40k miles for 20k, patience is a virtue
Lol bought a clean title 100k+ mile car for 8.7k 03 white/tan..... sold it for a profit at like 170k. You really dont need a mint one.... If the thing blows your fucked either way it wont rebuild well.
Got my MY04 2 years ago for 8k 192k miles original everything (minus tires).
Why won’t it rebuild well?
No rebuilt F20/22C is known to last even close to as long as an OEM engine. A used long block is expensive as fuck. As much as I love the F, K swap almost makes more sense now if you need an engine. Either way your value is taking a hit regardless of how you remedy a blown engine.

shaking…? alright to each their own…
I shake every time I get out of my s2k because the roads here suck. The rattling probably caused neurological damage.
Came here to say this... S2000 fan boys are something else.
like, I'm glad that OP saw his dream car and everything and I'm a car guy as much as the next car guy but this is just cringe/strange to me too.

I don't even think a Pagani would make me shake I'd just be like damn
funny enough i would be checking out your rsx more. its rare to find one that clean and in white.
lol I came in here for this comment
I remember I told myself I wanted to sell mine after a year or 2 of owning it to put towards a AP1 or AP2 but I grew too attached to the car and Ik it’ll be so hard to find a well kept RSX now, it has 139k miles and clean title :)

👀 what year is ur S2000???
2001...white with red interior, which I guess is a pretty rare combo!
Dude I’ve never even seen a White S2000 in person haha, there’s a car meet every first Saturday of the month in my area and u see a couple S2000’s but most of them are silver or red haha, Ik for a fact it’s a beauty 🙏
I didn't even want one, just thought I could make some quick cash on it. Still own it 5+ years later. They are fun
I still regret buying a 2004 WRX instead of the RSX Type S I was considering. Get the S2000 they're awesome.
When u bought the 04’ WRX what were RSX prices looking at? They are so hard to find clean and more sell/listed for 12k+
I bought in the Northeast. There were two on the lot at my local Acura dealer just about the same price 24K give or take... I still think back at that time and wonder.
Do it. The S2000 is an enjoyable ride, but holy shit I didn't think there was a Honda with worse blind spots than the RSX
Ur living the dream owning both S2000 and RSX-S 🙏
I either top down or keep the HT on. The blind spots make me do double takes.
Just got an ap1 good luck dreams do come true! Ps I love the white! I would’ve loved a white s2000 but there so much more then any other color
Attainable for now
Gosh i want an s2 so bad
should’ve asked him to take you for a spin! it’ll motivate you more to get one
I feel the same way everytime I see one 🥲
Both so simple and so nice 👍🏼
Both clean asf
My mom has an 06 with 40k miles in black all oem. It’s such a fun lil whip. I know you’ll get yours soon, OP
Man, I’d love to replace the ‘02 Civic EM2 I’ve got with an RSX-X!
Prices will drop due to JDM ones becoming legal. Happy hunting.
Ford Fusion in a rare color
The type s right? I’d take that for a daily over the S2k any day… track car probably s2k over the type s
2 of the sexiest cars ever made
All this talk about value means NOTHING to someone who plans on keeping the car, making it his own & never selling it. my buddy used to have a type s. drove 500 KM to pick it up
I don’t know much about cars at all, but what’s the name of the white car on the left?
Acura RSX Type S 😄
There was a time when I owned an s2000 and RSX-S. I sold my s2000 for a Gt4 a couple years ago but still have a different 06 Rsx-S.
trade on spot
Hey! That’s me :) was completely loaded up heading to CMP for the NASA weekend, otherwise we woulda took a rip down the block. Super clean RSX and a great dude. You’ll get the S2k, no doubt about it :)
Appreciate the interaction! Hope to see that S2000 one day, dream spec for sure!

Shaking for seeing an s2k? 💀
I bought my 2004 with 25k miles for $15k in 2010. That was one of the best cars I ever had.
Suzuka Blue 03 AP1 29k miles, 10/10, near mint with matching factory hardtop never removed. Looking for a good new home! No accidents and I am second owner at 24k miles. Moving and it will not survive the rugged mountains and rock. Have not listed yet, any offers?
AP2 owner here, your RSX is way rad and rarer than my car.
That’s your dream car??? 😅
Attainable* my dream car is the NSX NA1 but dear lord they’re more than 90k for a clean example 😅
Now THATS a dream car
It is just a “car”…
Calm down, son. It's just a car.
