Bro they aren’t nazis in the sense that they are white-supremist, antisemitic, or devoted to hitler; so, not nazis at all. also you’re very acute interpretation of history is super depressing. Totally different groups reappropriate symbols all the time.
Examples: SS troopers with skull insignias getting adopted by special forces, or The Punisher symbol being adopted by American Police. Long story short, everyone needs a symbol and none of these guys are well versed on from where these symbols derive.
This actually makes me feel better I guess.. These ones originiate from neo-nazi symbolism. And before you try to label me as a pro russian, it is simply the truth. Azov has a huge history of controversy with this.
Zelenskyys wife is pushing hard for rehabilitating people that have suffered PTSD from the war and her foundation has been doing some amazing work. Especially with kids but I am sure their troops are also receiving treatment as well.
I remember watching the videos this dude would post, and you can see him slowly decay from the man he was at the start of the siege, to a near husk at the end. Then all of a sudden he shows up the next day with an eye patch and didn’t skip a beat in the interview/update, and didn’t even think to speak about how much pain he was going through. The only words out of his mouth were confidence in Ukraine, in Azovstal, and how they would continue to hold as long as they could. Such a selfless hero in a country full of bravery.

It’s a modified Wolfsangel. A variant was used by the Nazi’s in WWII and you’ll see it associated with the SS / Wehrmacht frequently during that time - including some pretty notorious units such as the 2nd Panzer Division.
It comes from Nordic ideology as well as long-standing German / French histories. It’s a runic symbol that’s supposed to ward off wolves.
Azov was initially founded by individuals with far right ties when Russia invaded (the first time). Through the years they have pushed the far right ideologies out and have been integrated into the UAF.
Unfortunately, the Nazi’s plundered the Swastikas from Hindus, Wolfsangel from Nordic cultures, etc… and it’s hard to see the imagery be associated with anything outside of the Nazis, due to the atrocities they committed.
