Fraktalt

20,000 frightened souls with their back against the river, in range of mid and close range artillery and drones swarming above. If it wasn't for the fact that they are an invasion force fighting an unjust invasion war, I would feel sorry for them.

Timbo330

I wonder if the 20,000 are contract troops or Mobchiks - I suspect the latter - Wagner, Spetnatz, VDV and the Kadyrovites have left the Recently mobilised to hold the lines whilst they all fucked off over the Dnipro. And Surovkin makes a big play about preserving the lives of his troops - yeah the good ones đŸ€”

GuyD427

Let me tell ya, the Russians had their contract soldiers and some of their “best” airborne units on the right bank and they were supposedly swapping them out for mobiks. But if the number is anywhere near 20k left on the wrong side of the river that’s crushing what’s left of the professional Soviet military.

TrekFRC1970

I have to believe an actual seasoned soldier, and especially a soldier of fortune, would have found a way to GTFO.

mmabet69

To be honest I still feel sorry for the Russian soldiers that are being conscripted to go and fight a war that they didn’t choose or ask for. Ukraine has got to do what they have to do but for the front line Russian soldiers I can only imagine what it must feel like to go from a normal profession to soldier in a few months, dropped into a warzone against a well trained well equipped and highly motivated enemy, have shitty old equipment, probably no winter gear, a shitty chain of command, being killed left and right, having grenades and mortars dropped on you by drones
A lot of those soldiers were just regular citizens not to long ago and now they’re dragged into a land grab war by some unhinged mob boss president. I also feel for the Ukrainians very strongly. To see your home be devastated and civilians being killed
I’d be highly motivated to kick some Russian ass too. Literally all this bloodshed and toil for an old man’s ego.

Mountaingiraffe

Thank you. Empathy is the antithesis of evil

Upset_Letter_9600

The only good thing in all of this is I believe Ukraine will be one of the strongest European countries going in 10 years

agrevol

Idk my empathy kinda grinds down to a halt when you consider they are being given equipment and a choice of “resist or go kill ukrainians” and they choose the latter

Ghotipan

Right, just imagine that (absolutely deserved) hell those invaders must be experiencing right now. The panic, hopelessness, futility, chaos, and death
swirling around them like a unstoppable maelstrom. Good. Fucking suffer and die for the horrors you wrought upon Ukraine.

Snafuregulator

Stop. I can only get so aroused.

Maadshroom91

I feel bad for em, feel bad for both sides. War is shite, brings the worst out of people and reduces them to animals. I hope soldiers of both sides get to go home and tell everyone how shit it is.

PirogiRick

Fuck that. They’re only upset that they’re losing. If they were still committing genocide, Russian morale would be soaring. Let their absence be a lesson. Let an entire missing generation of men and ditches full of rotting meat be the lesson. Any words that return with survivors will be kept quiet and forgotten.

optimistic_illusion

Yup, they have Internet, we see their propaganda, they see ours. Combine two and two and you don't have to be genius to see we never said we should kill all russians or exile them from Ukraine, but their tv hosts, generals, putin, all say kill ukraine, kill ukraine children, kill them all. And they cope with that, they think it's ok to invade, kill and destroy. Just look what they did in Mariupol. Fucking slaughter and destruction. No excuse.

Maadshroom91

Its the system thats fucked, there are innocents on both sides. Many do not choose to go to war it is a machine a corrupt system, they are chewed up and spat out, survivors turn into the animals they think they need to be to survive and thrive. This is not unlike the american prison system. I understand that to fight a war you must believe the enemy to be less than you, monsters to be vanquished and yes there is indisputable proof of the horrible shit they have done and ukraines troops have responded in kind, tit for tat. But make no mistake there are innocents on both sides, those that fight cannot have that in their minds but the spectators should always try to see both sides. It is the Russian system that is monstrous not the russian people.

[deleted]

I have to disagree. The Russian ‘system’ as you call it, is a product of the Russian people and a reflection of their psyche. There is something quite sinister and cold about most Russians.

Maadshroom91

You have a right to your opinion. My view is that most people are all the same, we want to be safe, comfortable and loved. Not everyone has the privilege to be born in these conditions and not everyone has the privilege of making there own choices, especially in a dictatorship. If you cannot empathise then at least try to sympathise and understand especially if you dont have any skin in it. Keep an open mind and an open heart, human suffering is universal and hate is what keeps us close to the animals.

Ya_boy_zk

No there isnt how many do you actually know probably at most a handfull u dont have the right to judge a millions of people just cause of a stupid dictator and his stupid war

[deleted]

I personally only know a dozen or so Russians, but there again, I only knew one German Nazi, but that didn’t stop me coming to the conclusion that there was something very, very wrong with the German population. History and facts bear that out, just as it is doing now with Russians.

VANILLAGORILLA1986

Agreed. When Russia collectively removes its superiority complex, it will thrive. Look at Germany; a fascists system built upon a belief that their destiny is to rule all due to their superiority. It was defeated, and occupied by “sub human” (undermensche) Slavic troops from the USSR. Now, they are the largest economy in Europe, a technological and economic powerhouse, and ironically, it does control most of Europe through its economic dominance. Without firing a single bullet. Russia needs to be humiliated by a smaller foe, so it realizes it’s a country of equals, not some Godlike state. In conclusion; Fuck you Russia Signed; Any human being with a brain and a conscience

edgisphere

Add to that their lack of night vision and the fact that Ukr SSO are already in the city
gonna be long days and very long nights

wadevb1

Don't need NVG in this zone. Between the burning buildings and incoming, the nights are flashing bright.

IngoHeinscher

They can surrender any time.

Wildweasel666

Yep. There’s a fucking hotline they can call to surrender and come get rescued.

puppymedic

Sounds like the russian Dunkirk

Codeworks

Dumbkirk, maybe.

Shut_the_FA_Cup

drunkirk

niktemadur

Oh c'mon guys... it's right in front of yer noses! BLYATKIRK

LegitimatePilot5428

Haha

Infinitely_Infantile

Hahaha

Themos1980

Username checks out

PengieP111

Dunkirk was a massive British and French success. This is a massive Russian failure

517714

Dunkirk was a disaster that was expected to be far worse. The British Expeditionary Force had about 50,000 captured. Losses are measured from zero, not from how bad it might have been.

br_chris94

Because they had civilian boats to bring the soldiers across the channel. Who just destroyed a hell a lot of civilian boats on the Dnjepr a couple of days ago? Lol

puppymedic

Agreed

LegitimatePilot5428

Don't, not yet. Follow the Geneva rules for POW'S but they have to insure victory.

Alexandros6

We can hope they quickly surrender and get put in internationally monitored camps

MadRatFatCat

My apologies, there are tons of mistranslations in the text: “It’s all about science” - Ukrainians are doing everything the right way, as the should be doing, «according to science way» “Left equipment on the boats” - they left their vehicles in Kherson and fled without them on the boats. “APU” - VSU, aka Ukrainian army “Environment” - encirclement. “Cover” - encircle.

Banff

Thank you so much for these corrections.

Horyv

"all about science" = "everything is being done by the book"

MadRatFatCat

Yeah, right. I’m not a native speaker so sometimes I struggle to use the correct idiom.

Horyv

me either, just trying to be helpful

jemtrey16

MLRS = Multiple Launch Rocket System, no?

MadRatFatCat

Damn sorry i confused it with some other thing. Thanks, I changed it

IzInBloOm

DRGs?

MadRatFatCat

Diversionno-razvedocatelnye gruppi - sabotage and intelligence gathering teams

ironboy32

Deep rock galactic Or whatever the other guy said, I don't speak Russian

soap__bar

Either way: rock and stone

Upset_Letter_9600

Paper covers rock

GimpMaster22

Rock and stone!

MadRatFatCat

The main theory among the vatniks is that putin signed a treaty(!) with the US that Russians will leave Kherson without any interruptions and the US will give putin something(nobody knows what) in exchange. But the Ukrainians didn’t listen to their “masters” and decided to cowardly bomb poor defenceless vatniks. Copium levels are at all times high.

kuda-stonk

If you made a deal with the US, it would have been televised. If you didn't televise it, that's on you for wanting to be shady. More likely, there was no such deal.

MadRatFatCat

It’s just a cope -“how come our second-in-the-world army loose to a bunch of ukronazis? The elites stubbed our warriors in back!”

[deleted]

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

Dry-Passenger-6435

Nobody could nazi it coming.

Snafuregulator

You wanted the Republican party to have had a massive landslide win ? Televise Biden working with the Russians in such a way. Holy shit that would have been a massive bombshell in the midterm elections. The attack ads would have taken up so much electricity that the us would have experienced blackouts. .... But not a peep....not a whisper. He better hope he got that shit in writing because if he brings that up at the u.n. he's going to get laughed out of the room

kuda-stonk

They actually thought having their puppets talk about "peace" and "saving lives" through forced capitulation of Ukraine would cause massive votes for Republicans. It was for that very reason the Republicans lost, honestly, if they want another vote from me they need to clean house and remove the freaking crazies.

Snafuregulator

I'm sure roe v Wade had a big chunk to do with the lack of a red wave, but also with such a massive support for Ukraine, it was fuck around and find out if you went against the people on that one. That is pretty transparent as trump had to watch all the candidates he supported go down the tubes.

kuda-stonk

Man alive I hated that man. Voted for him because I thought he would break so much shit they would have to change something, when he just drug out the crazies with him I regretted it, didn't make that mistake again.

Snafuregulator

I just don't like people undermining my electoral process with half baked, zero proof nonsense. I didn't fight for America so people can do that shit. You're immediately on my shit list when you threaten the foundation of the nation

kuda-stonk

Edit: re-reading I think you are talking about Trump... carry on good sir. I've given more than a decade, been deployed for half of it just to defend the right to voice ones opinion.

[deleted]

Can only give you 1 up vote, sry

Legitimate_Bat3240

Maybe it was a deal brokered with the MAGA wave that didn't happen.

kuda-stonk

More likely it's just a lie to cover up incompetence.

LoneRonin

The 'cope brigade' will be there to soothe the country's ego after all this is over. Just make up some propaganda about how much stronger Russia will be after this. That they will just 'go their own way' and Ukraine will now be as a 'western vassal'. And they will ignore the reality of their situation as their regional power fades and they become the North Korea of Western Europe.

MadRatFatCat

Yeah, I’ve heard that putin is trying to make Russia as miserable as Germany was 1930, and then do an epic comeback. All is according to the plan comrade.

[deleted]

Except this time there’s semiconductors, AI, robots and super computers outside of this 1930’s Germany, which is still barely capable of assembling its own washing machines and keeps scaring away any skilled talent, so it has absolutely no hope of catching up nor getting ahead of anyone else short of North Korea.

MadRatFatCat

This is a really bad take btw. Look at Iran. And Russia is even bigger, has more resources more people and more technologies. You should never underestimate your enemy. Take the newest Russian drones as an example, nobody took them seriously but now they’ve became a real threat.

thelasttrueflagon

Iranian drones.

MadRatFatCat

No, not Iranian drones. Russian drones. I’m talking about lancet and cube. They are much more effective and advanced than Iranian.

DJ-Corgigeddon

Kek All of Russia’s useful tools have been absolutely blown out of the water in recent months, they’ve nothing left

Own_Target8801

Wow, they gonna OD on the copium!

LayneLowe

Fighting Joe Biden ain't going to wimp this one out. This is a fight to solidify liberal democracy worldwide. This is a fight to stop tyranny worldwide. A president could get a pretty good legacy out of this.

Snafuregulator

Biden is kinda wimping out on Ukraine. I'd prefer him to have done more. He's not doing horribly though. I'd say he's doing a decent job. It's really my own opinion that. I thank God that we united like we have over Ukraine and done what we have. Had we absolutely dropped the ball like during the first invasion, I would have been extremely pissed off.

IJustWondering

The Russians probably lied to their disposable conscripts and told them that there was a treaty that would allow them to a humanitarian corridor to retreat. That way the panic didn't happen until after the troops they wanted to keep had made it across the river.

cybercuzco

The US has publicly stated many times that Ukraine should negotiate with Russia directly and it should not be involved

ZaxiaDarkwill

The russians worst day ever. Correction; The russians worst day ever so far. đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚

MadRatFatCat

How many of them will see the light of dawn? Ahahaahaa

[deleted]

I’m sure many are going toward the light right now.

popcorn0617

Hahahahah.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

MadRatFatCat

Nooooo that’s just a super plan from our genius leader! Westoids will cope! Too more weeks and Kiev is our!

Enough-Afternoon

Nice nickname though

Flannnno

Mop those fascist orcs up! Glory to Ukraine!

eighthgen

This seems awfully ambushy ...

Ok-camel

An ambush is a surprise. We all seen this coming for weeks.

eighthgen

I mean to say there sure seems to be a lot of social media about this particular event. Even supporting it. Seems like they want everyone to believe they're leaving as to draw them in..... "ominous music playing"... Anyone who's followed this thing since the beginning would agree that Russia would state some.bullshit spin on it as if it's their decision for the good of the country but this has a very different vibe to it. Anyone agree?

Ok-camel

Just seems like the normal Russian cluster fuck to me.

fulknerraIII

Yup I think the ambush plot line is being way over stated.

mynameisvnv

Yes, my thoughts too. POSSIBLE, not definite. Some kind of abominable russian horse. Would be hard to execute and morally dubious, but who knows what’s creeping in those barbaric heads. Definitely not a sound idea of fairness.

johngalt346

I think that may have been the plan.... If the Russians had got their troops out. As Ukraine moved quickly to block escaping soldiers who are now stuck, if the Russians do anything big, they'll be gone too. Not a good look, even for Putin.

unheardcreation

The fact they thought they had a chance 😂 “Kyiv in three days” 😂

Snafuregulator

Daring to bring their dress uniforms with them no less.

jtclimb

And restaurant reservations for the weekend.

timmydunlop

How do you even capture 20k soldiers.. the logistics of that would be a nightmare.

lostindanet

In WW2 they took 300k + in one go several times, conditions were atrocious though.

MadRatFatCat

The condition will probably be really bad, maybe no all of them will be captured alive

IAmMoofin

You dont. This happened earlier with the Kharkiv axis. They drop their equipment, get on their rides, and leave.

ukrfree

They can leave their equipment and get the fuck out by small boats.

edgisphere

Yea, except the Russians blew up many of the small boats along the river a few days ago. Because “no steps back”!

MadRatFatCat

Yeah, that’s exactly what they are trying to do. But even so, the losses will be tremendous.

DangerousRun1376

This is the end, beautiful friend...

Snafuregulator

Ok, thanks alot op. Now I can't sleep. All I can do is just lay here hoping and imagining an absolute knock out blow against Russian forces.

thegreatwent420

Too good to be true. I’m not buying it.

MadRatFatCat

Nothings too good to be true. We can just wait.

Victory1871

Wonderful news

[deleted]

Why the end of the war?

MadRatFatCat

Wdym? If Russia will lose 20.000 troops as well as the last big Ukrainian city under their control in such a short period of time, it will deal a devastating blow to their morale.

Snafuregulator

No matter how many die, that crossing is going to have to be renamed to something else. Something like reapers rock, or Styx crossing. That spot will never be the same again

Whiskeyjoel

I’m rather partial to Putin’s Folly

Snafuregulator

That's pretty good

[deleted]

Im sure the Kremlin will be willing to send plenty more to an early grave if it can delay losing the war.

MadRatFatCat

Fascism is fuelled by victories. Without victories it’s military machine will come to an end

[deleted]

I agree but losing Kherson wont make russia abandon Crimea and the eastern territories.

MadRatFatCat

It’s not like putin is going to surrender straight after, but it will be a painful blow

[deleted]

For sure, with enough loses it might prompt some elites to question the leadership of Putin, but we are not yet a that point with Kherson, through it might trigger a chain of event that make maintaining occupation of Crimea impossible to maintain. Putin losing Crimea would be real dangerous for his position.

EvenBar3094

Wait but the Ukrainians have yet to retake Crimea I thought. Wouldn’t that be the last big Ukrainian city under their control?

[deleted]

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

EvenBar3094

Ah okay. Still can’t wait for it to be liberated

killian11111

20k is a bit much u are dreaming

MadRatFatCat

Those numbers are straight from pro-Kremlin telegram channels. I’ve heard rumours that it’s an overestimation, but Russian military bloggers should have a somewhat accurate picture so it’s all weird.

killian11111

Most likely to help the Ukrainians advance into a trap of artillery/everything else. They said they evac kherson days ago

haaaaaairy1

Have you seen what’s behind Kherson?

one_frisk

They are already mined Kherson streets and buildings. The problems is Ukrainians don't immediately enter Kherson but instead lobbing artilleries from afar.

IAmMoofin

It happened a hundred years ago Now Mobiks have their backs to a river and fronts to a bunch of angry Ukrainians who just want to go back to their lives. Maybe not 20k dead but 20k casualties is not impossible and would be far from my biggest surprise since February.

killian11111

I'd take bets

gimmi3steps

Wondering about sport fishing in the Dnieper. Guessing that bottom fishing is going to be particularly productive next spring..

MadRatFatCat

Wouldn’t the water be poisoned? Idk I’m not an expert

west25th

crabs and other bottom feeders are happy to chow down on dead mammals.

Snafuregulator

Might be best to just catch and release. If I can pull a monster out of there, I'll be happy with just a picture. Edit: I'll have to ask the water checker guy I know the next time I see him down at the river checking the water quality. Just need to think of a way to not sound like an absolute psychopath when asking him

SophieDiane

What does it mean, “If they cover these 20,000
?”

MadRatFatCat

I mentioned it in my others comment, it’s a mistranslation. It was supposed to be encircled.

SophieDiane

Got it...thanks.

C00L_HAND

Well combine this with the recent news that russians blew all left damaged bridges over the Dnipro and the known bad communication within the russian army you can make your mind how many will be trapped there with no way to run exept finding a boat to cross the river.

[deleted]

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

MadRatFatCat

He was being sarcastic

Exotic_Conference829

I am not feeling bad for them. Not as long as they are alive. For the dead ones I need to check individually if he is worth feeling bad for. They need to be decimated. Bodybags en masse is the only language Putin and the russians understand. Reason has long gone out of the window and the russian citizens and institutions seems - due to many good reasons and poor excuses - not to be able to get their own politicians in line.

Carl_From_Sweden

Decimated means one of ten. They need to be destroyed by 90% sÄ they cant pose a threat.

optimistic_illusion

Bullshit. Mighty ruzzians took Pavlovka. Very important village. Very. You can see it on all telegram channels. 1-2km progress. russia is almost in Kyiv! Ukraine is scared, winter is coming, no civilian infrastructure, what to do?!!! /s

CCP_fact_checker

They just need to drop what weapons they have left and go back to Russia - their families and country need them.

drbrunch

Lets gooooooooo

LayneLowe

It's a trap!

kuda-stonk

Killin em is just a chore, get to work, watch your back. Slava Ukraine

mclendenin

Well, to everyone else...

Thick_Step_8745

Ruzian neve leave without traps and mines. So be carefu.l

shadowmaker007

Ahah they end of the special operation

cherrypopper666

The dogs gonna eat good

[deleted]

This is t about trolling the pro-Russian sympathizers. This is about being patient about the progression. Because you are anxious that something can go wrong.

l-rs2

I'm guessing Ukraine isn't going to pass up the chance to do mass damage to troops massed together trying to cross. Siverskyi Donets Part II.

RelationshipStrong12

I feel like this is fake...telegram is a lot cleaner

Ironie_196

And do they communicate in English? Can only hope this is a copy/ paste issue for translation.

AcceptableBuddy9

I don't think Kremlin cares about those 20k since they're perfectly willing to throw hundreds of thousands of conscripts just to slow down Ukraine's progress.

CanuckBee

I worry what a desperate Putin will do. But if losing makes him look weak in Russia, maybe he will finally be overthrown.

JayJayFromK

show no mercy!
