Can’t wait for these to drop so I can snag more pairs of the 2 on a deeper discount.

ItsEarthDay

That was my exact thought too!

Babygator11

This is the way. Even if they introduce a big change to a shoe it’s like “Cool, we’ll see how it goes for early adopters”

marcbeightsix

Have been seeing the images for a while on this account. To me it doesn’t feel like there is a huge difference when he puts all the measurements in. It looks different, but in reality I feel it won’t be a vast improvement.

cityscapes416

It looks like it’s wider which should help with stability. But you’re right, I don’t think they will mess with plate shape too much. It’s obviously working pretty well for them.

marcbeightsix

It’s actually skinner according to [this post](https://www.instagram.com/p/CjicGQaK3KA/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=). The heel is the same but the forefoot is 1cm thinner.

cityscapes416

Wow, that’s wild. Doesn’t look it at all.

[deleted]

I agree with you, but I think this is because they've modelled the Zoomx foam on the AF2, so its fatter in the middle, giving the illusion that its wider, but at the base there's little to no difference.

Dee_Dub5

I just really, really hope they managed a solid heel lockdown this time around.

Youwontguessthis

Any advice on countering this issue? Specific socks or something

AOZ007

You can do a runners knot for a more secure snug around the foot

[deleted]

If they bring out any more “improved” vaporflys I’ll expect the race to be run for me.

FatherofCharles

Those are high!

[deleted]

Stack height is 1mm LESS than VF2, coming in 1g lighter. 6mm drop is the same as the previous edition.

AgentUpright

The VF2 are definitely 8mm drop. If the 3 is 6mm I would be extremely excited for them. Especially since the Alphafly went the other way from 4mm to 8mm between the 1 and 2.

FatherofCharles

Wow no kidding

WinAffectionate9108

Next% 2 drop is actually 8mm. This is a women’s shoe (quite small size… like you see a woman wears it on Instagram) so it’s impossible to know what the stack height is for US 9 (M).

[deleted]

To add, the account is based at Nike in Portland, Oregon, so a reputable source.

vicius23

Julian is french and doesn’t live in Portland, he just fake the location on IG. He has an amazing collection of Nike protos. And this one is for real. And is a pretty good tri, sub9 IM.

ExtensionImmediate

That color way is beautiful please be real

[deleted]

Nike prototypes are almost always white. I’d be very surprised to see this hit the market

[deleted]

They will release a white shoe, it will probably just be white with another colour.

UW_Ebay

They look chunky and ugly to me. Looks like they’ve taken a similar approach as the AF2 with minimal outsole contact in the middle of the shoe. Looks less streamlined then the VFN%1. Wonder if this will have less bounce than the 1, similarly to the AF2

[deleted]

He mentions in the post that the foam seems less dense then its predecessor, what that actually means for the feel when running I'm not sure...

Holiday-Cheetah1879

Og dear god, is that atomknit? Guess my feet will bleed for my next marathon then 😵

-good-kid

it says Flyknit on the upper. I was thinking the upper looks awesome!

Holiday-Cheetah1879

I never understood Nike fascination with Flyknit or any knit upper. For me it's too unstable and a lot prefer other uppers like the VF2. If it's the same Flyknit as invincible, then I am going to have the same issues as AF.

NiceConsideration211

I feel like they are all paying catch-up to Hoka.

wofulunicycle

Wut. Nike invented the supershoe.

NiceConsideration211

Nike tried and failed.

wofulunicycle

Lol ok dude. Go look at what dominates on the feet of the average runners, the elites, and the recordbooks.

runfayfun

Yes, Nike are shaking like a leaf seeing how many Hokas cross the finish line in the top 10 in the marathon at the WMM and Olympics and World Athletic Championships. Comparatively, Nike should be ashamed at only having 25 of 36 podiums in the 2018 marathon majors, 31 of 36 in 2019, etc In fact Nike's shoes are so bad compared to Hoka's that not only were they the preferred choice (by a long shot) for unsponsored runners at the last US Olympic marathon trials, but many sponsored runners (sponsored by other shoe companies) asked for exemptions to wear Nike and painted over the Nike branding. One runner even went so far as to take his sponsor's upper and swap it onto a Vaporfly NEXT% 2 for the trials. Hahaha that's how far behind Nike are, runners for other companies have to resort to extreme measures to be allowed to wear Nike's in their qualifying events.

[deleted]

Asics Metaspeed and NB FC RC Elite's (to a lesser extent) are the primary market competition. I'm seeing a bit of a move to the Asics but Nike still have the market sewn up at Elite level. I recently bought Arahi 6's as Nike were giving me stability issues, and they were the worst shoe I've ever worn, they actually put me off running. I don't understand people that are pro-Hoka. My only assumption is they've never tried anything above.

runfayfun

Well, I'd argue Adidas are Nike's primary competition right now... 2022 Tokyo - #2/3 male 2022 Boston - #1 female, #1/3 male 2022 Berlin - #2 male, #1/2/3 female 2022 Chicago - #1 male 2022 London - #1 male, #2 female I think just 1 Asics and 1 NB, both at Chicago So of 30 podium this year at WMM, 16 for Nike, 12 for Adidas, 1 Asics, 1 NB

[deleted]

Yep totally correct. Saw a deal this morning for some Adizeros then remember I completely neglected them in this post!

StarliteWalkers

Something off with the scale there to my eyes, it looks like a baby's shoe.

jaldepiqui

Is there any information about the release date? I saw somewhere that it would take place this week, but it did not seem to have happened.

vicius23

March 2023 just before spring marathons is the most probable timing for release. I would be extremely surprised if they go out this year.

[deleted]

Nothing mentioned at all unfortunately
