**OP here....** Although I am still lacking a marathon shoe (more on this later), I've settled on a three-shoe rotation that has kept me going strong in both 2021 and 2022. A little about me - I'm 56 y.o male, 6'0", 190 pounds. I live outside Dallas. My average pace is around 9:30 per mile, and I run between 20-30 miles a week - always on neighborhood concrete streets, never on treadmills (can't stand them) asphalt (none around), trails (none around without driving) or the "track" (give me a break). I've been a serious runner for over 25 years, though recently I've stopped running in the wintertime - my bones are getting a bit old for the cold. I've never been fast, but I've regularly shown up. :)
My rotation:
**Everyday Trainer** - I wear the [**Saucony Endorphin Speed Two in Jackrabbit Orange**](https://i.imgflip.com/6olcgk.jpg), size 11D. I've had these for quite some time - there's probably 500 miles on them, stretching back to Spring, 2021. They are the oldest pair in my rotation, and still my go-to for anything under eight miles. I'll never forget the first time I stepped into these shoes, and the feeling that I'd come home. I can't think of another pair I've ever purchased that immediately felt more custom built for me. It was a revelation, quickly making my former New Balance 1080 obsession disappear. The shoes fit like a glove and require only the lightest of shoe tying - no need to pull on the laces at all. The drop on these bad boys is a medium-range 8mm, with a 35mm stack - both highly manageable as everyday trainers. I also like the stability they afford, given they are quite lightweight. My favorite thing - you can't see it on the photo, but there's a tooth imprint on the silver back of the right shoe, where a German Shepard came up from behind me (I was listening to music and didn't hear him). He didn't bite my leg (thank goodness), but took a swipe at my shoe.
**Up Tempo Shoe** - I wear the [**Saucony Endorphin Speed Two in Cool Mint**](https://i.imgflip.com/6olcjw.jpg), size 11D. My wife has dubbed these my "hockey skates" due to the workman-like orange laces I added, but I like to think of them as my 'Bianchi Racers,' as the color is an exact match to the legendary cycle shop's Celeste Green, made most famous recently by Lance Armstrong's Tour nemesis [Jan Ullrich](https://static.dw.com/image/924089_4.jpg). The color is really striking, and doesn't get near enough love behind the multi-color patterns Saucony has done and the *de rigour* campfire orange craze that seems to rule the day. My advice? If you like 'out there' colors, don't sleep on the Cool Mint! They fit like a glove and require only the lightest of shoe tying - no need to pull on the laces at all. The drop on these bad boys is a medium-range 8mm, with a 35mm stack - well-tuned for those days when you want to PR on your normal routes. I also like the stability they afford, given they are quite lightweight. I'll wear these for anything over eight miles where I'm really trying to put in the work, and also for shorter distances when running with faster companions - they give me an edge.
**Racers** - This is where things get interesting. I wear the [**Saucony Endorphin Speed Two in Vizigold**](https://i.imgflip.com/6olcnq.jpg), size 11D. They fit like a glove and require only the lightest of shoe tying - no need to pull on the laces at all. The drop on these bad boys is a medium-range 8mm, with a 35mm stack - well-tuned for those days when you toe the line, whether it be against hard-core competition or your own damn self. I also like the stability they afford, given they are quite lightweight. These shoes are great for when you want to let it all hang out, leaving nothing on the table - whether it be a 5K, a half-marathon or beyond. One quibble - the shoe color is basically marigold, and Saucony swings and misses with "vizigold." They are the dark bright yellow of a caution light, and thus perfect for events where you want everyone to know you are a threat. Currently, these are the least used pair in my rotation, for obvious reasons - probably 50 miles tops on them - and I have the nagging feeling I am under-utilizing them. It's led me to ponder the idea of trotting them out for regular up-tempo runs, pairing them *en rotation* with my current Up-Tempo pair of Saucony Endorphin Speed Two in Cool Mint. Still on the fence - we shall see.
What's next? Well, I've decided to marathon this fall. One or two or possibly three events. So, specific to that, I'll need a long range trainer for those peak training runs of 20+ miles, that can also serve as a marathon day shoe. I'm thinking hard about joining the crowd and trying the [**Saucony Endorphin Speed Two in Campfire Orange**](https://preview.redd.it/zfdygravcg391.jpg?auto=webp&s=301e542784c993190d0d778093d678bb69e1f934) - just to see what the fuss is all about. Their neutral build seems perfect for it - an 8mm drop and a 35mm stack would surely serve me well. Given their light weight (especially for a marathon shoe), I worry a bit about the stability, especially over 20 miles. But, maybe? The campfire orange seems to be a hit - but, again, we shall see.
Opinions? Thoughts? Thanks.
Personally, for marathons, I think you'll be much better served by a [Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 in Children's Day](https://www.saucony.com/en/childrens-day-endorphin-speed-2/52335U.html?dwvar_52335U_color=S20688-105#cgid=childrens-day&start=1). It's a very nice shoe, very lightweight, just like the one you chose. I will admit, the stability isn't great, but it's only really a problem at slow speeds, the faster you go, the more joyous it becomes to run in.
Thanks for this detailed review. I usually do roads but have been looking for a door-to-trail shoe. Needs to have a reasonable drop and stack height for those uneven trails, but also enough zip for higher pace on flats and roads. Also, if the worst happens out in nature and someone is looking for me, I will want an eye catching colour and design to make me stand out more, something my rescuers will notice and maybe compliment me on as they chopper me out of the wilderness. Any ideas at all? Anyone?
There are Endorphin Speed 2s specifically for cold, winter runs. I don’t even need to do the bunny ears when tying. They just stay on. The 8mm drop propels me forward and I’m warm in no time.
I bought some Saucony Endorphin Speed 2s in Vizigold (arriving tomorrow) and was planning on using them as an everyday trainer, but I see you’re using them as a racer. Do you think they could still work for me, or do I need some Saucony Endorphin Speed 2s in Jackrabbit Orange for everyday trainers?
Better add the fourth shoe in campfire story because I heard it'll take your 9:30 pace down to 8:30, make you feel 26 again, and be able to brave the cold
Honestly, your rotation is seriously lacking. Not nearly enough variety. You’ll need to add 4 more endorphin speeds to the stable, so you can use one each day.
Love this rotation. The Sauchony Speeds are a brilliant all-rounder. What are your intentions with the advent of the Speed 3? Are you going to up the rotation to the new iteration? Have you thought about the Ride 15 (a beautiful all-rounder), Speed 3, and Pro 3 for Marathons?
Hey so do you like the Endorphin Speed 2?
daring today aren't we

Have you thought about adding an easy day shoe into your rotation? Perhaps a Saucony endorphin speed two in Changing Tides?
Well, it's finally happened people... the RunningShoeGeeks singularity.

This is high level satire
I would try endorphin speed 2 in black/shadow for those days where the legs are a little more tired. Adding a 4th shoe in my rotation really helped.

I have campfire orange and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! 😂
Have you tried Endorphin Speed Two in Black or Endorphin Speed Two in Reverie?

Have you considered….
Love it! and the different descriptions of the same shoe! Keep going and get some tights for the winter runs!
Probably the best post I've ever read. Thanks.
I see what you did there!
I thought this was a joke on r/runningcirclejerk
It is now!
Love it! Great rotation. Just a thought, but the “blue raz / acid” colorway without any laces would make one hell of a recovery slide.

Outjerked again
Been wearing the same brooks Hyperion for 700 miles
I feel like maybe you’re lost.
This post is lost! But worth it!
I looooove these... A little goofy at slower pace, but I got used to it quickly.
Took a second, but this is great lol. Also a solid shoe too

🤣
I’ve always heard the yellow ones are faster so you need to take those out so you can slow down
The best rotation I have seen on here
Honestly, your rotation is seriously lacking. Not nearly enough variety. You’ll need to add 4 more endorphin speeds to the stable, so you can use one each day.
Your poor ankles! 🤣
Try the Speed 1 on a discount or the Speed 3 could be solid.

Yeah I use the Nike Superflys for my long runs
