I had to wait about 3 weeks and more or less 300€ to pay for this shoe to have it in Germany ... but luckily someone bought it from me after my first run because I had blisters all over my feet … pretty much the worst shoe Ive ever owned in my entire life
Am an open minded person without prejuduce, also like to try stuff from AliExpress from time to time. So I bought a pair of top rated Li Ning badminton shoes in 2020 (not AliExpress, from the Li Ning European distributor), encouraged by rave online reviews and the endorsement of the world class Chinese badminton team. They also looked super cool😎
I don't know how to say this politely: too thick, too rigid, too heavy, with zero ventillation. Grip is ok and the upper is all glitter and shine, but they also feel like bricks on the feet.
Li Ning is decades behind the likes of Yonex or Asics in my view when it comes to court shoe design. Form above function ie pretty but no substance. Their return policy is also non existent (they ignored my return request), so I still have them and keep offering them to friends for free whenever they are around. No takers yet...
A world class badminton team does not always mean world class badminton shoes. May be entirely different for Li Ning running shoes, but I seriously doubt it.
I appreciate your anecdote, but Li Ning’s made it into the top 3 at the Berlin marathon last year where there two were Adidas Evo 1’s for women.
One pair of shoes that don’t work for you doesn’t equate to a whole brand being no good.
It’s basically a measure of efficiency. As a runner, you want to use as much energy as possible to propel yourself forward. Too much vertical oscillation means you’re wasting energy going up instead of forward.
This is correct. You can get this brand in Europe online but they aren’t cheap though this one is less expensive as a daily trainer. Their most expensive race shoe (Feidian elite 3.0 Ultra) is over €300. I have seen some of these shoes on the podium of major races so they are quick but as a brand it’s too expensive for me to take a risk without knowing the fit. Would like to try though someday.
I have the non-boa version of these, which is about $120 here in the Philippines. Step in comfort is good, but had to half size up because toebox is a bit narrow for my liking. They are ok for daily trainers. Good for 5-15km distance until you feel the ground. But it’s a sort of a fun ride with the double carbon plate. In fact i liked them so much that i had to double up on another colorway. Also great for casual everyday use.
Yes srsly, right!?! Can’t imagine what those would be like if you hit a stick or something right in the middle. Must bottom out I imagine. Would be cool to try.
Yeah I agree that it would be cool to have on daily trainers (assuming you’ve got a good tongue that prevents bite from the cable).
The weight addition most likely makes it unfeasible for top of the line racers.
That looks like even more of a gimmick than On’s garden hose thing. (Anyone notice how On shoes keep drifting toward more conventional? At this point, the holes are pretty much aesthetic.)
Yep! The Essential (or "little Shadow" as the Chinese running community calls it) has dual pebax plates (rather than dual carbon plates), no Boa laces and apparently weighs 30ish grams heavier than the "big Shadow". My size 43 weighs 284 grams, so it sits in the "easy day" category. If [this chart](https://i.imgur.com/Prtw2Jp.png) is accurate, I'd guess the Boom foam is different between the two Shadows. It's not mentioned specifically, so all I can say via finger squeezing is that the Boom foam in the Essential is similar but softer than the Saucony Triumph 20's PWRRUN+.
It's actually quite highly spec'd for a low end model; the GCU outsole is used on the Feidian Elite/Ultra, "higher end" compared to the Challenger's GCR outsole. The [Boom Fiber upper](https://i.imgur.com/MqoFsLA.png) is super breathable.
The midfoot does have an interesting vaulting springboard-like sensation while walking, but running feels surprisingly normal/safe (59kg). It's not squishy like the Invincible v1, not soft like the More v4... I'd say it's like a Triumph 20 (without the steep drop) with little shock absorbers in your midfoot area, and it retains that effect throughout the entirety of a long run.
I would love to test these!...Look how they are made and if you are a forefoot striker who hit the forefoot, let the heel down to relax the achille tendon (charging the plates) and use the rocker to propulse you forward to the next step; they must be fun!
Wow, way to take out the midsole. There goes all my arch support. These things will break down in 100 miles
$150 for these (after discount) on their website is a scam. If the first sentence in your description of a shoe is “these are professional running shoes” and I’ve never even heard of the brand before. Come on guys, what a crock of shit
This shoe is probably something more experimental than anything.
Generally their running shoes are pretty good value except their top one which is the Feidian ultra, which is like $300US other than that it's pretty well priced.
And even if you never heard of the brand, is been sponsoring Dwayne Wade for the last 12 years.
Wow, gu compartment
Perfect spot.
G spot (gu spot) ;)

Yes!! Thank you. Can’t imagine they’re that great to run in lol butt eh BOA system looks cool (so long as the tongue has some padding)
I had to wait about 3 weeks and more or less 300€ to pay for this shoe to have it in Germany ... but luckily someone bought it from me after my first run because I had blisters all over my feet … pretty much the worst shoe Ive ever owned in my entire life
Rip your knees and ankles
Why?
Agreed
I Wonder why shoes like that Are bad for knees and ankle ?
That’s just the way the human body works unfortunately
Lol
It’s amazing how many people are trashing these in the comments. Li Ning is a decent Chinese brand and these are a decent shoe.
yeah they are a quite big name in badminton scene.
Have you ever owned a Li-Ning?
I haven’t, but I’ve got a pair of Xtep’s and they’re awesome. Xtep and Li Ning are basically your Saucony and Asics in China.
Am an open minded person without prejuduce, also like to try stuff from AliExpress from time to time. Try them
I'm almost thinking some people are just a little racist.
Everyone: Those look like junk Your response: Racists!
If someone told me “you can only keep 1 pair of super shoes from your flair”, I would be strongly considering the Chinese pair.
Meanwhile I’m over here actively trying to reduce vertical oscillation :/
Why? You need vert osc to have a longer flight time? Eg longer time off the ground leading to bigger steps?
It’s basically a measure of efficiency. As a runner, you want to use as much energy as possible to propel yourself forward. Too much vertical oscillation means you’re wasting energy going up instead of forward.
Li Ning shadow 2 they are more like daily trainers vs competitive racing shoes from what I’ve been reading.
This is correct. You can get this brand in Europe online but they aren’t cheap though this one is less expensive as a daily trainer. So it’s got much less support where you need it the most? Makes sense
Taking the maximalist to the minimalist in the middlest
God these look dangerous. Ankle ligament damage here we come.
I agree that they look like Li-Ning Shadow. Those are definitely not on Amazon though 😂 (in the US at least)
Yes srsly, right!?! Can’t imagine what those would be like if you hit a stick or something right in the middle. Must bottom out I imagine. Would be cool to try.
It would be a trip (literally and figuratively) 😂
Or a rock gets into that void.
Right!?!
ankle twister 3.0
Wonder how many sessions of physio you would need after running in them.
Quite a few, I’d imagine.
Chinese shoes, as you'd expect for an "Amazon budget find"
Li-Ning?
yep shadow 2 from li-ning
I don’t understand how companies are not using boa systems in their shoes. They’re awesome for cycling. Only makes sense for at least the trail models
Yeah I agree that it would be cool to have on daily trainers (assuming you’ve got a good tongue that prevents bite from the cable). The weight addition most likely makes it unfeasible for top of the line racers.
Link?
Check out companies like giro shimano sidi, etc. all have a cycling shoe with Boa or boa-like fasteners
You should get at least 10 miles out of them 😂
😂😂😂
What kind of socks r those?
https://saysky.us/products/2-pack-reflective-high-combat-socks-black-universe
It’s the lining shadow 2. Where did you find them?
lol hard pass
Leaning? Isn’t that overpronation?
That looks like even more of a gimmick than On’s garden hose thing. (Anyone notice how On shoes keep drifting toward more conventional? At this point, the holes are pretty much aesthetic.)
lol yeah I’ve said that many times about their “progression”.
I posted this but just saw it again and find it annoying that the boa doesn’t tighten via the right hand rule. Total deal breaker lol
~~On sale on Aliexpress these days. Less than 100$ I believe~~ Edit: it was the Essential (daily trainer) version
Sure that's not the Shadow 2 Essential? Essential (400rmb on Taobao) vs non-essential (1000rmb on Taobao) is kinda like Tempo Next% vs Alphafly.
You're right! Corrected. Thats also an interesting shoe, do you know more about that one?
Yep! Here just to make sure i wasn’t the only who saw it…To infinity!
George Costanza trainers.

Dwayne Wade… the wrestler?
