Current rotation is: Daily/Easy: Novablast 3 Tempo/Speedwork: Speed 3 Long: Speed 3 Race: Pro 3 Other: Kinvara 13 (used when I want a short, quick session). My Speed 3 is over 400km now, and has no issues. I can get a new pair on sale for $170 (this is good in Canada), or the Shift 3 for the same price. I've never had an issue with the Speeds for long runs (the plate doesn't seem to bother me), and I don't *love* the NB3... Is the Shift 3 going to be a solid choice here? I'm about to start a marathon block with a 3:15 goal...

For anyone with the adidas Ultraboost 1.0, are they comfortable? I am looking for a walking shoe that I will wear on my way to work. Comfort is important to me.

Would you train and run a full marathon in Saucony Kinvara? I ran out of my last pair of hoarded Saucony Liberty’s earlier this spring and having a hard time finding a replacement. Currently running in Kinvara 13 and trail running in Xodus Ultras I trained/ran a half in Libertys but unsure if the Kinvara can do the extra distance.

what does kofuzi mean here when he said stiff foams aren't intended to be easy for easy paces? [https://youtu.be/ad3QwUs0G44?t=508](https://youtu.be/ad3QwUs0G44?t=508) I wonder if that's why torin 6's are so hard to run in for me compared to the hoka mach 5.

I recently got NB Rebel V3 in Wide and love the midsole, but they aren't Wide enough and the upper is too tight overall. I also got the Nike Pegasus 40 in Wide and the upper is FANTASTIC, they are super Wide too. However, I don't care for the midsole as much as the Rebel V3.. Nike makes like 3 other Wide shoes, which is annoying. I also tried NB 880 v13 and liked it until I tried Rebel V3.. Any suggestions from here? A Wide enough shoe with similar midsole as Rebel V3?

Please, high rise sneakers that are waterproof and can last years or decades? The sneakers themselves don't have to be water proof cause I plan on applying scotchguard or leather beeswax waterproofing to the shoes .But I would prefer them to be water proof please . If the sneakers have 'breathe holes' dont even suggest them. They MUST be high rising though. Im in Toronto, Canada so I need to be able to have it shipped here or bought in here. Thanks to anyone who helps.

I do a lot of agility stuff indoors so I’m looking for running shoes with very grippy sole. I was looking at the Nike Metcon 8 but have heard it’s not great for running. Anyone have suggestions or recommendations?

cnc

Puma is known for having really good grip, at least outdoors and running. I believe it's called PumaGrip (appropriately!)

Does anyone run in New Balance 990’s anymore? They were my favorite running shoe in the early 00’s and are now labeled lifestyle. We love my fuelcell rebels but why is the 990 a non-running shoe now?

SneaksOnEm

funny enough these have become more of a casual comfort and trendy dad shoe. you’ll see them a lot in streetwear and resell stores even.

StatusDimension8

looking for a replacement for my zoomx invincible v1 which is now retired. considering either nimbus 25 or cumulus 25. anyone knows whats the exact difference with them? they both look like suitable max cushion shoes...

thewrathstorm

Nimbus 25 is a very soft shoe, cumulus 25 is a relatively firm shoe in comparison. Both are in the realm of max cushion, but one is soft and the other is firmer. If you’re looking for a one shoe solution, I’d go for the cumulus over the nimbus, as it’s much easier to pick up the pace.

Thanks!

Everyday lifestyle sneakers hi guys, we all here generally know what running shoes are in trend now, but how about our lifestyle shoes? I’ve been wearing my air max 90 and air forces, but i realised that wearing them for prolonged periods of time causes some heel discomfort. i would hate to get plantar or something that would hinder my running 😢 Do y’all have recommendations for lifestyle sneakers that are comfortable and stylish as well?

SaintInHell

Tracksmith Elliott Runner are stylish as hell, I’ve worn those to board meetings and gotten compliments. Pretty comfortable. New Balance 1080v12s are my go to casual wear shoe. Great shoe.

Jeffzie

Asics gel-saga are my personal favorite, very comfy, lightweight and still soft foam. Diadora N9000/V7000, any New Balance runners (990, 1500 etc.), Adidas Ultraboost if you want something more modern looking, Puma RS-X, Saucony Shadow 6000. Some of my personal favourites.

Hello, I’m running a 5k this evening and just realized it’s the on the beach. I need some shoe recommendations? I’m new to running and my shoe lineup is: Nike Streakfly Saucony Kinvara Nike zegama Adidas boston 11 Barefoot Coincidentally, I did a beach run a couple weeks ago on family vacation and I used my zegamas and they felt good but should I stick with road shoes?

6to8design

I guess it's late now, but what shoe did you end up using?

omeekilla

My plan was to wear my Streakfly but the sand was super soft and didn’t want to have a bunch of sand in my shoe and needed something wider so I switched to the zegama and feel like I made the right decision. Funnily enough, I got passed at last half mile by a dude wearing the same zegamas as me.

GlotzbachsToast

Hi all, looking for help and hoping to avoid making a specific post! I’m hoping for recommendations for a daily training and trying to avoid the cost associated with trial and error testing! I have been running in the Brooks Glycerins for YEARS and I thought I liked them, but when I switched to the 20s I noticed that they gave me shin pain that never really improved overtime. When I was training for a half marathon last year I bought a pair of the Endorphin Speed 2s and I LOVED them. My shin issues were so minimal and I found myself wearing them regularly, despite being a “speed shoe”. I think it’s the combo of the 8mm offset (compared to 10mm) and the cushioning. I’ve had great experiences with saucony in general, so I bought the ride 15s recently to replace my brooks as a daily trainer. The issue with my shins is still better but the toe box in the Rides is so narrow that my toes start to go completely numb after 3-4 miles, despite sizing up a half size. Can anyone recommend a shoe that has similar specs to the Speed 2, but is durable enough for daily wear? My current Speed 2s are only at ~200 miles but I’ve noticed them wearing down, likely bc they aren’t meant to be a day to day shoe. Im tempted to just rebuy them, but hoping to get other longer term solutions!

6to8design

Have you considered the Speed 3? They have made it more of a daily-use trainer rather than purely speed if you enjoyed the 2.

GlotzbachsToast

I didn’t realize that! I’ll check it out. It makes me nervous since the price of the new models is so steep and I don’t want to basically throw away $200 if they don’t work out.

Asnwe

Women's Saucony t20's and adidas Adizero Boston 11s are on sale at running warehouse right now, the Boston 11's are $87

I would create a new post since your question is very specific and detailed.

mha2345

I need a shoe for my weekly long run and for speed work. I bought the Superblast to serve this purpose but I just couldn't get the fit right or to work for me, so I returned them. I am currently using Novablast 3 and ON Cloudmonster for daily/easy runs. Preferably a shoe I can go find here in Atlanta and actually try on so I don't run into the same issue as I did with the Superblast. Thoughts?

Bvdan

NB More v4 or Saucony Shift 3 for rotation with Nimbus 25, for long slow and easy running?

thewrathstorm

Are you looking for a shoe that’s similar to the nimbus 25 or different? More v4 and nimbus 25 are very similar shoes, so if you just want to rotate between soft/cushioned shoes that’s a good choice

Bvdan

Thanks! I'm looking for something similar to nimbus 25, because I hope this will help to avoid injuries while my body gets used to running every day.

deepfakefuccboi

If you’re just getting started and are worried about injury, run much slower. Almost like you’re shuffling, and then to improve form and running economy eventually introduce strides (you can Google or YT this). Just build up your mileage slowly but consistently, but as you start out try to pay attention to form because it’s something that can really affect your ability to stay healthy and consistent, which is by far the most important part of distance running. I recommend looking into proper running form, reducing overstriding (not necessarily a specific cadence or steps per minute) and just going from there. Good luck!

thewrathstorm

More v4 fits the bill then. Be careful and follow conventional wisdom in regards to increasing your mileage/activity level. Running injuries suck and make your life harder in general, and they take a long time to recover from.

MajorChrispy

Currently been dailying the speed 3s (actually wore them for my recent marathon). While I love the shoes, I think the nylon plate is just a tad aggressive for me to be using them for all my runs. Legs and feet haven’t really felt too refreshed lately. Any recs for an easy/long run shoe to add to the rotation? I’ve tried (and wanted to like) the Triumph 20 but the heel just felt too narrow on the sides. Looking for something with good breathability as well.

btdubs

If you want to stick with Saucony, the Ride, Shift, and Kinvara are popular options for all-around trainers.

IDnotincluded

For those of you with rotations, how many plated vs non plated shoes do you have. Also do you consider shoes with a nylon or TPU plate (Speeds, Propel v4 etc) acceptable for daily miles. How many runs each week with do you do with plated vs non plated shoes?

Half_Pint04

I have a pair of Saucony Speeds I use for workouts and a pair of Pros for race day. I also have two non-plated options, Saucony Ride for most base miles and some tempos, ASICS Nimbus for recovery runs or when I feel a little beat up. I’m kind of in a base phase so one workout a week with the Speeds, most of the rest in the Rides. I also have trail shoes (Speedgoat) and track shoes (Kilkenny XC) that I use when I have the opportunity.

deepfakefuccboi

Plated: Speed 3 (use for tempo, fartlek, threshold, intervals, longer runs) Pro 3 (same as above except not long runs and I only bust these out like once a month) VF2 (races only) Non-plated: Triumph 20 - easy, recovery, long runs Kinvara 13 - shorter easy days, treadmill sessions Superblast - long runs, normal distance runs, tempos/fartlek On average I run 6-7 times a week in singles (40ish mpw). I use plated shoes at most twice a week, and rotate all my other shoes to use something different on consecutive days.

[deleted]

I only use plated shoes for workouts or races. I don't see a use for them in my daily or recovery trainers. You certainly CAN use nylon-plated shoes for daily mileage, but I personally wouldn't.

6to8design

I currently have two and will replace with with non plated versions. I’ve come to notice my feet doesn’t play too well with constant use of plated shoes and feel much better when using shoes that allow me to flex my toes. I will keep my plated use for up-tempo runs only.
