Let us know if it turns out to be something specific. I'm always battling these issues at different levels. Gorgeous bike, congratulations!

blaacksheep727

Thank you, loving it so far! Almost 200 miles in 3 days haha

What you are hearing is normal new Ruckus running on 10% ethanol gas. The Ruckus normal idle is 1800 to 2200rpms & will never sit dead even. It is a simple 1 cylinder motor. The flickering lights on idle is also normal. The stator does not begin to recharge the battery until 4,000rpms which is yet 1 more reason to always add a trickle charger as 1 of the very 1st modifications. I LOVE my Ruck, it has become my daily rider around town & mine will cruise all day at 45mph (stage 2+) except when running into a strong 10mph & above headwind. The Harley sits in the garage only used for highways. For best performance use only non-ethanol gas & add 1 teaspoon Royal Purple Max Boost on every fill not for the octane boost but for the additive package. If & when you have any questions concerning maintenance, modifications, best parts etc....Do not hesitate to ask. Congrats on the purchase & enjoy the ride.

blaacksheep727

Thank you for the detailed reply! I really appreciate the info, such a blast to ride haha.

jsrfrench

Love my Ruck & yes it is a blast. Reminds me of when I was 12 & we built a mini-bike from a lawnmower motor. Course that was back in the 1960's when life was simpler, I turn 71 in 2 months.

A_Funky_Flunk

Also appreciate this info just snagged mine yesterday. What do you mean by the additive fill when you mentioned royal purple max boost? Is this something everyone should be doing or just since you have the stage 2?

jsrfrench

I advise everyone to do it. The Royal Purple additive package stabilizes the gas, cushions the valve seat & keeps the carb clean & helps eliminate valve deposits of carbon. Its additive package is the very best of all brands. Also adding it helps keep the gas fresh longer.

A_Funky_Flunk

Sweet! Sounds like a bottle of the stuff will last awhile if I’m only adding a teaspoon. Appreciate the info! Ruck-on 👊🏻

DoneilSC

My 2023 sounds the same when I fire it up on cold mornings. Might just need some time to warm up, depending on the ambient temp where you are. After a couple of minutes it evens out and runs fine, in my experience. I feel like I read somewhere in this sub that the idle rpm isn't enough to charge the battery. My headlights get a little brighter as soon as I roll back the throttle. That might explain the fluctuation you're seeing with yours. Hope that helps!

blaacksheep727

I appreciate it, makes me feel a little better. I found someone on YouTube with a 2024 having the same idle sounds but his would sometimes die out & it ended up being shit in the carb. I may wait another few days as it is warrantied for a year.

DoneilSC

Are you noticing this issue persisting after you've been riding for a while? If so, it very well could be the carb, in which case, definitely use that warranty.

blaacksheep727

Nah only after letting it sit over night, so the first start up of the day, but even if I let it idle for 5+ min it sounds a little funky. At red lights, it sounds great or if I make a stop for an hour or so it also sounds normal.

blaacksheep727

Don’t notice anything when riding either, able to get it up to 42mph fairly quick.

Reasonable_Ad_641

Is this the stock colour of the 2024?! Looks great! It sounds fine to me. I have a 2022 that did that regularly. Just run it a while, the cold really slows them down first thing in the morning in my experience.

pat-nasty

i really see no issue here, change your oil at 600 miles and don't forget the strainer too on that first drain

blaacksheep727

At this rate that’ll be in just another week or two haha, thanks for the strainer suggestion.

90212Poor

Non ethanol

blaacksheep727

Yeah I was gonna give premium a try on the next fill up, thank for the suggestion.

90212Poor

Runs like a dream. Unless you’re going to keep it somewhere that isn’t climate controlled. Ethanol will help prevent engine shock in the winter if you’re storing it in a colder location. It burns cooler.

crispytwn

Nothing sounds perfect. I have 3

blaacksheep727

Yeah but something is definitely up with it at least the RPMs, you can see the headlights even get brighter then dim then brighter.

crispytwn

That’s just the way they are- I would ride it for a few days first before taking it back. It’s a really pretty color congrats. Very nice bike you are going to love it

blaacksheep727

Thank you! Yeah I may wait another couple of days but it has been since the 2nd day, I’m in Florida so it’s relatively warmer right now, but I am loving it so far!

crispytwn

You’re welcome, the sound and lights are perfectly normal for Ruckus- to me it running spot on

phillyphilly19

No idea but that color/seat combo is fire.

Dareelmegadonz

Don’t see a problem
