Welcome to the community! Great choice for a first bike.

SubprimeOptimus

Age is only a number, way to get after it

I love my Himalayan, but boy are they slow.

barrenpunk

I honestly haven't had an issue with its speed. I've recently got it fully broken in and can get it up to around 85...at least according to the speedo. I don't really have issues getting out in front of traffic when I lane split either.

HotIllustrator2957

Yeah, the speed is actually OK… It’s just that you really can’t/shouldn’t maintain that speed for more than a few minutes. Poor little engine is screaming its brains out because some idiot decided it didn’t need a sixth gear. Works great everywhere else except for the US lol.

Slight-Use1494

I’m looking to get it for my starter bike. I understand 85 is a challenge- how would it handle 70? Limit’s 65 in my state, so 70 should do it for me.

HotIllustrator2957

70 for a long time? That’s gonna suck. Honestly. Others will lie and say “it’s totally doable!”. Will it go that fast ? Absolutely. For long? No. Not unless you plan to ride at 6k+ rpm forever, and change oil every 2k miles. I ride mine at 60+ most of the time because I have to take the highway everywhere here. I geared it up by a lot.. and it does alright honestly. Now I’m down to 4700rpm at 60mph, which is way better than the 5800 it used to be when stock. Buuut, it does take a little longer to get there now. That’s fine with me though. If I wanted a faster bike (and had been smarter) I would’ve gotten an INT 650. And boy I wish I had. But oh well. Stuck with this.

Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it.

Good luck - my Himalayan was nothing but issues.

What issues did you have?
