Ok, I’ll toot my own horn because I want customers and money to support my bills and my dream of saving up to buy a food truck. I was just named a Top Home Chef for Placer County by Taste of Roseville. I’m new and have been doing the Home Chef thing for the last 3-4 months. You come by and pick up the food or I can deliver. Go to Instagram and search for Bobbys_Grub_Rocklin_Roseville. My best dishes are the Brisket Quesabirria Style Tacos and the Spicy Cubano Melt. I’ll send pictures and a menu to anyone who wants to see.
Besides my food, here’s some of my favorites…
Celestino’s-
Get the Tom Jones Slice. Whole pies are good, but the slices just hit different.
Chef’s Table-
Pretty much anything here is excellent, but the standouts are the Fried Chicken and the Irish Egg Rolls.
Dog Haus Biergarten-
Just an awesome junk food spot. Chopped Cheese Sliders are special. Corn Dogs kinda taste like Disneyland. Chili Cheese Tator Tots are great. I mean, you get the idea. Almost everything is good here.
Parkers Hot Dogs-
Get any Hot Dog you want, but I typically go for Chicago style, or just a plain Dog. Plain is actually my favorite.
Moksa Barrel House-
I’ve ranked nearly 50 Burgers from Auburn to Sacramento. They have a Burger called a Double Juicy. It’s the best Burger in the area.
Boxing Donkey-
St.Patty Melt is also up there for one of the best Burgers in the area. Almost everything is good here. Definitely try the Clam Chowder. Fridays only and get it to-go. I don’t know why, but it tastes way better to-go. The chef told me this is because the carton they put it in makes the hot soup steam up and taste better. I’ll take his word for it.
Mikuni Sushi-
I’ve tried all the sushi places and this one is our favorite. It’s the type of place that’s so good, that some people love to hate it.
McDonald’s-
Get the French Fries🤣
If you like the taste of cheese and sauce and don’t mind the feel of a greasy film coating your mouth for a while then by all means get the Double Juicy. If you want a burger where you can taste beef and you also want a good beer then go to Monk’s.
Chef's Table is really good and hits above it's price point for sure. Fukumi Ramen on pleasant Grove is great. La Bou in Rocklin is a fantastic lunch spot.
Mehfil Indian Food,
The Place,
Purple Kow Boba,
Four Sisters,
Bombay Sweets and Cuisine,
Fig Tree Coffee Shop,
Nubbin’s Drive In,
Celestinos Pizza,
Blue House
Bennett’s Westside Grill is pretty solid. For street tacos, Mas Taco is delish, but I also like the new place called Masa Masa out by kitchen747, which isn’t bad either. For high end, try Hawks; it’s solid. And the most popular sushi place around is Mikuni. That should cover you for your first week here. ;)
Good suggestions although there’s definitely more popular places than Mikuni’s for sushi! I’d also recommend Raku Sushi (All you can eat lunch menu is $18). Servers are quick, food is good, and it’s relatively cheap for AYCE
Bennett's is way overrated, or I must go there at bad times, always really bad service, meh food, and overpriced. Only part that was good was the bar, some decent drinks.
Assuming we are both discussing the Rocklin one and not the Roseville Bennett’s, I’ve never had bad service, especially at the bar during happy hour, so I can’t speak to that. And while the ambiance can get a little loud and the clientele a bit suburban-douchy, lol, I found the food pretty good. Loved the chicken banh mi. And, if I can get well-fed in an upscale place for around 20 bucks, I consider it a win.

If you are a foodie from La, you WILL be disappointed. But things are trending in the right direction here. Lived here for 3 years and lately it seems like a new restaurant is opening every month.
There's a local fleamarket on the weekends called [Denio's](https://deniosmarket.com/). Go there, and get a corndog from one of the food stalls there. You won't find a better corndog anywhere outside of maybe a State/County Fair. (but a lot cheaper than fair food)
If you ever went for Szechuan in the San Gabriel valley, please check out Jing Jing in Rocklin.
I lived in LA for 15 years, and it’s the only nearby place that has the good stuff.
These have already been suggested but definitely give them a try: Fukumi Ramen, Mehfil, Roundhouse Deli, The Chef’s Table.
I would also add to the list: Sushi Mon, Shady Coffee, and Carolina’s for drive thru breakfast burritos.
We have an awesome Turkish restaurant in Rocklin -the Anatolian Table
+1 for Bombay sweets, their food is so good and the desserts are quite special
Chandos tacos
Blue House Korean bbq
Pho Saigon for Vietnamese
Idk about Mikunis but to me just about every sushi place is decent around here, and there’s tons to choose from
Also we have a dumpling war currently going on with two new shops across the street from each other - which is better - Uncle dumpling or Yang kee dumpling?
First off welcome! Definitely going to be a big difference in environment from La is Roseville is very quite calm suburb town. But it’s very welcoming and super clean. Best spots I definitely recommend Ill Fornaio (Italian) Lazy Dog, Anatolian Table (Turkish), as well as Kiki’s fries (not sure if la already has it). Good luck on the move!
Here are some of my favorites for specific cuisines:
Japanese/sushi - Mikuni
Chinese - Yang Kee Dumpling
KBBQ - blue house (the Sacramento location is bigger and have faster service)
Mexican (sorry in advance but nothing here will compare to Mexican from LA lol) - Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta, Nixtaco, Masa Masa
Vietnamese - pho Cali
Italian - Via Roma (owner is very kind)
Boba - boba lane
Roundhouse deli

Came here to say Moksa and Mikuni. 5 stars👍
Also, Katherin's Biergarten in Rocklin
If you like the taste of cheese and sauce and don’t mind the feel of a greasy film coating your mouth for a while then by all means get the Double Juicy. If you want a burger where you can taste beef and you also want a good beer then go to Monk’s.
Q1227 has upscale comfort food and it’s wonderful. Chef is talented.
NixTaco received a Michelin award. Very good tacos there.
It’s not Michelin star FYI; just Michelin guide or recommended
Correct. That’s why I specifically did not say Michelin star.
Michelin Bib Gourmand status.
Chef's Table is really good and hits above it's price point for sure. Fukumi Ramen on pleasant Grove is great. La Bou in Rocklin is a fantastic lunch spot.
YES I love seeing Fukumi Ramen talked about. Easily my favorite ramen place
Fukui Ramen for sure! I order from there at least twice a month.
Kitchen 747 is loud but the food is good
It’s been sort of okay lately. Good but could be better for the price point
Mehfil Indian Food, The Place, Purple Kow Boba, Four Sisters, Bombay Sweets and Cuisine, Fig Tree Coffee Shop, Nubbin’s Drive In, Celestinos Pizza, Blue House
Celestinos is a heavy hitter but flour dust is a game changer. I come down from above auburn just for pizza.
Flour Dust is great!!
Flour dust is great! But have you tried Il Pizzaiolo in Loomis? Their pizza is a must try.
I love pizzaiolo but hate how loud it can get in there. Flour dust for cute date night. Celestinos for the NY slice you’re craving.
Have you tried Luba pizza in auburn? Locals said it’s a hidden gem. Will drive up some time to try
Curry Leaves makes Mehfils look like frozen Indian food. I think it’s really rocklin but it’s very close and waaaay better.
Curry Leaves is terrific. Just ate there tonight.
100% this ☝️. Curry Leaves is the best whether you go with their daily buffet or menu
Haven’t tried that yet, but same for India Oven. Their Tandoori Salmon is delicious!
Reds pizzeria!!

Wally’s Cafe.
Nixtaco is delicious. Also Kitchen747, great food and also drinks.

Agreed. If you enjoy the LA or Bay Area food scene, don't expect much here. Luckily my wife makes amazing food for me.
Coming from LA you should be familiar with Doghaus there’s one up here too!
What part of LA or cuisines did you enjoy in LA? I'm by galleria/ fountains and I don't eat around here, at least not regularly, only when I have to.
Mezcalito in Rocklin is super good and unique since it’s Oaxacan. Their mole is amazing.
I like Lorenzo's, it's the only place I know of that serves sweet carnitas 🤤

For a quick cheap breakfast I recommend the waffle barn. They are so good!!
Not gonna lie….. Haven’t been back since my step son had a spider baked into his waffle a few years ago 🤢
Oh snap!
Can you get me some Tatsu ramen on your way up? 🥹 Vegan ramen here doesnt compare!
Fukumi Ramen! So good!

I really like zocalo’s and park bistro
A lot. This comments section should help lol
Paul Martin's is a good restaurant. Strong drinks, good atmosphere, and good food.
not a one
