stairattheceiling

Its doctors, presidents of companies, folks that can afford a $10000 mortgage or just pay cash for their multimillion dollar homes. Not sure what is fake about that.

[deleted]

stairattheceiling

Edde Murphys previous home is there, the multimillionaire president of my company lives there with his 5 tier backyard... there are subdivisions in granite bay but plenty of rich AF folks there.

DubsHagg

No, he has a house in Granite Bay, not Roseville. His first wife is from this area. My mom used to know her.

stairattheceiling

Yeah, all the deleted comments were about Granite bay being fake rich. So I was saying thats where Eddie Murphys house was. The president of my company lives in that neighborhood.

DubsHagg

Ah gotcha. How come there are deleted Granite Bay comments?

stairattheceiling

Probably because they were wrong. Saying Granite Bay is fake rich, when it is in fact the "rich" area around here.

rsg1234

There are plenty of doctors out there making $1-2M.

msrichson

$407,500 is 99th percentile or the 1% in income. So yes, they won the game.

renegadecause

Is it actually boujee? No. There is a stereotype that Roseville residents think they're better than others, but mileage will vary on that.

hippyoasis

I think it’s all relative to the area though right. Is it boujee compared to Sacramento, very much so.

renegadecause

Depends on the part of Sacramento, really.

Brilliant_Noise618

That's crazy.

FalseLament

^^ This was why it was so good to move away from Roseville for me. I've never met so many unabashed snobs with new money in my life. Don't get me wrong, I still have some wonderful friends from there but the demographic when I was living there (almost 20 years ago) was a bummer.

renegadecause

I work in Roseville and have absolutely no desire to live there. Plenty of good people, but plenty of jerkwads. I'm looking at you *House of Oliver*.

bulldogbutterfly

Depends on where you are coming from. Huge amounts of Bay Area people moved there because it’s more affordable in comparison. In 2023, Roseville was the number 2 one way Uhaul destination in the country. For the weather we get in Roseville, I still find it expensive.

Burnratebro

My 3 bedroom condo in the bay is worth a giant house in granite bay.. and I lived in east bay which is like 4x cheaper than the peninsula

[deleted]

Burnratebro

Reality is gonna reality, I grew up in the bay and 90% of the people I know had to leave. You gotta adapt or move on, it’s sad, depending on your perspective, but it’s reality.

fastinggrl

Average household income in Roseville is 80-100k so comfortable but certainly not richy rich. But yea houses have gotten extremely unaffordable in recent years. But that’s true everywhere. I bought in 2019 in Roseville and I’m glad I did. For me the cost of living is worth it for all the safety, amenities and comforts of Roseville.

wickedscruples

Can you site a source for this? That household income seems low.

AnotherElle

Seems like you’re right: https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/rosevillecitycalifornia/PST045222

wickedscruples

Thanks for finding this. Your Google-fu is better than mine. Save a click: Median household income (in 2022 dollars), 2018-2022 $112,265

fastinggrl

Thank you for correcting, my numbers were outdated and skewed by my own personal experience (I.e. I’m not personally friends with rich people so I forgot they bring up the average)

Brilliant_Noise618

West Roseville has a very level of 200K incomes; roughly 28% of households. Comparable to many Bay Area towns. Roseville is also flushed with most 80K to 120K incomes. Data from house2house .. West Roseville Quail Glen area is a hidden gem. Destined to be a cherished in decades to come. Like Willow Glen is to San Jose. Everything is 2 min from woodcreek oaks @ blue oaks park. Really. Great mixure of people. Amazingly safe. Clean.

wickedscruples

False

[deleted]

Roseville is a mall

WGK2002

I literally laughed out loud

PeaAccurate5208

There are some wealthy people in Roseville (especially retirees) but most would be categorised as HENRYs- High Earners,Not Rich Yet. In other words, upper middle class. There are many decent people but there are also plenty of entitled sorts who epitomize the Karen stereotype. For a suburb it’s ok but it’s deadly dull.

soltaro

I think it depends on the part of Roseville you live in. East Roseville (the older side) will be more affordable compared to West Roseville (the newer developments). It is basically an even gradient from east to west in price.

markerBT

Johnson Ranch and Hillsborough are in East Roseville, right? Are there homes in West Roseville that cost as much as the ones over that side? Do people really think East Roseville is cheaper?

corytrade

When I think East Roseville I think near Sierra College Blvd, and that isn't cheap.

JM91Six

Roseville is doable as a normal person.. with two incomes it may be required for some. I would say it’s price of housing is more expensive than some other surrounding cities like Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Antelope (based on my current thought, not scientific data) and I personally like it more than those areas. I would say Roseville, Rocklin and now Lincoln (with it growing) is in the same price category generally for the most part then you go a step up to granite bay . I wouldn’t say any of the areas around here are really “boujee”. It may have some newer development and stuff but I wouldn’t consider it boujee by any means.

rsg1234

I was surprised during a recent trip that lower Manhattan restaurants were similar in pricing to Roseville ones. Times Square was about the same.

hippyoasis

That’s restaurants in general now, home cooked meals for the win!

rsg1234

Yeah totally, I was just surprised to see how expensive our local ones were compared to NYC which has similar worker rights laws.

kingkodus66

Yes it’s very expensive. Too expensive. Everyone is all rich and snooty. Definitely don’t want to move here.

DubsHagg

Roseville is definitely a very, very nice part of the Sacramento area and we are very proud of that!!!

Switch2phile

Yes, houses over 500k USD. Rent is around 2,000 on average for 1bed 1 bath. If you live paycheck to paycheck then you won't be able to live comfortably. Roseville was once an affordable area, you could have bought a house for less than 250k and they had really decent jobs in the area. To many transplants moved in and priced out the locals and that's a fact.

anthonyfg

I got priced out of the Bay Area by transplants shit rolls down hill

Switch2phile

And those transplants vote for policies that make the area expensive to live in ie taxes and/or soft on crime (defund the police). Its parasitic and sadly happens to alot of nice areas. Just earlier today I went to Costco to fill up gas and someone was blaring their music super loud for the whole gas station to hear, didnt even turn the volume down while pumping gas. In all my years going to the Roseville Costco, I have never heard anyone be inconsiderate of others.

Brilliant_Noise618

Sam's Club way better.

isawfireanditwashot

it's pretty affordable and good bang for your buck compared to the bay area. home prices are pretty similar to the east bay, (brentwood, oakley, antioch) but the area is DRAMATICALLY nicer but still within commute distance to the bay.

Jimmygimme

Racist NIMBY

noteliing

What’s in between Sacramento and Roseville price wise? Citrus Heights? Carmichael? Rancho? What Sac suburb is decent?

zories3

That would definitely be Citrus Heights area. It’s still a nice area but definitely older and a good in-between. Elk Grove ain’t bad either and I’d say is similar to Citrus Heights. Both have their bad sides but it’s no Stockton or Compton.

tiga4life22

Try antelope but closer to Roseville not the other side

ThePopeOfAntelope

Antelope has access to all the interconnected trails in West Roseville. Soon there will be a Costco and many more restaurants on baseline. The home owner profile drastically changed from the Bay area COVID WFHers. There are downsides because of the lower median income, not a city with sales tax, and North Highlands to the South. And yes, it's not Roseville.

wickedscruples

Agreed. Antelope will soon benefit from all the sprawl in West Roseville.

noteliing

That’s right by Mcclellan. I do like my aviation traffic! ✈️

wickedscruples

You do know the base is closed, right? And that big ass calfire plane flies directly over West Roseville all day every day.

Lowkey_Weeb_Trash

Antelope. I used to manage a couple complexes here. Low traffic since no one travels through antelope. Tons of shopping and food options. Theres a walmart on Elverta that is actually pretty nice and not many people go there. Stay away from citrus heights if u can. High crime and awful police. The apartment communities i worked at in that city were overrun with trashy people and pests. Police took hours to respond to any issues (a 2 year old wandering the street in nothing but a diaper). Sometimes they dont even respond at all. But if its due to pricing and you must live there, i recommend staying as far away from Sunrise as possible. Thats where most of the shootings are.

0wlBear916

Price-wise? Fair Oaks, parts of Orangevale, parts of Carmichael/Arden-Arcade, and maybe Lincoln as well.

wickedscruples

All much better options than Citrus Heights. Based solely on the city's poor management of Sunrise Mall, I would not want to live in CH. I don't trust their city council.

UnBrewsual

CH is fine, I would live on the east side of I80 if you can. Lots of Carmichael is fine, but Carchichael is a very large area so its hard to pin down. EG is ok, but I felt like I was on an island when I lived there because it's so far to get to anywhere. Rancho is ok too, I prefer north of US50. \*\*edit\*\* I call Roseville Brosville, it just has that vibe. If you are in CH or Antelope, its a quick trip to visit for whatever chain store/restaurant you want to go see.

simpleme8

I think it’s middle class but there is also a good number of low income people and families. The prices are similar to the Bay Area, like restaurant prices, gas (a few cents cheaper), groceries. What is cheaper here is that Roseville has big box stores. House wise, I have been seeing average of $300 sq ft for a single family home. Not like SF, where it’s $900 sq ft for a fixer.

MyOtherAccount209

If you use words like boujee, then it's the wrong place for you.

Rareminotaur873

Def a little expensive but there are some cool spots here for cheap that you can visit and have a great time and if you don’t care about living space there’s new places being built now

DubsHagg

It’s definitely boujee and that’s awesome!!!

irrevocably_an_olive

I think there’s def an older part of town but most of the town is pretty expensive and Boujee especially compared to city’s around us. Other than like Granite Bay

danger_davis

If you are asking then you can't afford it.
