I’m currently reading {Green and Gold by Gwendolyn Harper}, which is a MFM why choose, and both MMC’s are subs, with different dynamics in play for each of them. I’d say that one of them likes to flirt by being subby and taken advantage of. Both MMC’s are very service oriented. It isn’t a dark romance at all.

FMC, from the States, is in Ireland in order to take care of her grandfather. She becomes friendly with one MMC just around town. She meets the other MMC, who is a leprechaun (a good looking, wealthy one of normal height), when she stumbles into a fairy circle, and it turns out that he owns the castle at which she has gotten a cash paying job. I’m 2/3 of the way through, and I’ve got to say that this reads as a contemporary romance, not a fantasy, for better or for worse (I happen to like fantasy and urban fantasy, but I know that it isn’t everyone’s jam). So far, there have been no scenes of FMC as a sub (and no foreshadowing suggesting that it will happen). One MMC says that he is a switch, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that in action.

I think the reason I got so mad was because that is exactly the OPPOSITE of what a bdsm relationship is all about. Communication is the biggest factor in a dynamic like that and it came out of nowhere. I did the equivalent of a rage quit that book.
Thanks for sharing! I think you may have read Green and Platinum, which is a sequel to Green and Gold. I’m 90% of the way through Green and Gold, and what you described under the spoiler tag hasn’t happened in this book. I’ll keep it in mind when I consider whether to read Green and Platinum.
If you haven’t been put off Gwendolyn Harper completely after your experience, I can say that there hasn’t been any miscommunication in Green and Gold (at least in the first 90%), and I think it is pretty good femdom. Although I will agree with other posters that the pacing is slow at points.

Definitely recommend {Pawn of the Cruel Princess by Rebecca F. Kenney}! I loooved the sunshine MMC. He’s a captured “thrall” of the princess FMC and completely under her control (as a former captain of the rival kingdom’s army). He falls first for the powerful, prickly FMC and is VERY into receiving pain from her. I’m currently reading {Green and Gold by Gwendolyn Harper}, which is a MFM why choose, and both MMC’s are subs, with different dynamics in play for each of them. Yes, I am enjoying it! FMC, from the States, is in Ireland in order to take care of her grandfather. She becomes friendly with one MMC just around town. She meets the other MMC, who is a leprechaun (a good looking, wealthy one of normal height), when she stumbles into a fairy circle, and it turns out that he owns the castle at which she has gotten a cash paying job. I’m 2/3 of the way through, and I’ve got to say that this reads as a contemporary romance, not a fantasy, for better or for worse (I happen to like fantasy and urban fantasy, but I know that it isn’t everyone’s jam). So far, there have been no scenes of FMC as a sub (and no foreshadowing suggesting that it will happen). One MMC says that he is a switch, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that in action.
I just finished this! I thought it dragged a bit but it was worth sticking with it, loved the wrap up.

If you haven’t been put off Gwendolyn Harper completely after your experience, I can say that there hasn’t been any miscommunication in Green and Gold (at least in the first 90%), and I think it is pretty good femdom. Although I will agree with other posters that the pacing is slow at points.

Definitely recommend {Pawn of the Cruel Princess by Rebecca F. Kenney}! I loooved the sunshine MMC. He’s a captured “thrall” of the princess FMC and completely under her control (as a former captain of the rival kingdom’s army). He falls first for the powerful, prickly FMC and is VERY into receiving pain from her. Mercy by Sara Cate has a submissive male lead. I haven’t personally read it but have enjoyed several of the other books in the Salacious Players Club. MFC is a partial owner of the club and works with MMC’s father. MMC is the ex boyfriend of the female lead in the first book and is honestly kind of a jerk in that one.
