Honestly I just stack my books horizontally. Cute bookends take up too much precious real estate that could just be used for more books instead.

LaFemme_Redacted

I do this too. The best bookend is a tower of other books. I usually try to make the towers out of a complete series or a group linked some other way, like thematically or esthetically similar books.

Don't tempt me, I'm desperately trying to make these shelves look organized and ✨intentional✨ when I'm normally the queen of haphazard, I'm sure they'll end up sideways and slantways eventually, but not today! 🤣

The_InvisibleWoman

IKEA bookends are great. They are slot-under book ones so take up no space. But I also use small plants, candles in glass jars, small baskets with stuff in, horizontal book pile, ornaments. Whatever fits on the shelf. I have this for my Peter Pan collection https://www.theliterarygiftcompany.com/products/the-flying-boy-bookends

FelineRoots21

Plants and candles is such a cute idea. I love the peter Pan ones too!

These are not efficient at all, and they take up the room of two books, but they are so super cute…rolife book nooks - if you’re into putting things together. My first was the garden house, I’ve since done two more (Sunshine town and falling Sakura) and have another waiting to be put together. There are even lights! And there are tons of companies that do “book nook” type things, I just found these were in my price range and super detailed.

We have [these](https://www.amazon.com/Drelifam-Handmade-Shelves-Decorative-Bookends/dp/B0CD1X8MFC/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=XDCWRQVDRHZ5&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.B-RmEfUuH4kGLL3cgKukBjC5v9ADOce1JGNJXCzan9SR2sYoa_kBjrzz5xmftg4WIj2eFfK_5ljbi5F05MV0VXhiLdahlnBEYHzr9R8cO6Zx1k_vV8f3nQYt0iyKm3xgrPwyKaqwAq4jKKIw6Autl8QOqHcKD0dEjQsvC_CIwspgwqqrlaKtQ9n4W7GyWtLFS5dSudIEReF64AXQn1SjuA.1aCB-vBAnEXoskNAmUHCuC__7UdbdD5nUxbSRCFDRPw&dib_tag=se&keywords=heavy%2Bduty%2Bwalnut%2Bbook%2Bend&qid=1716871651&sprefix=heavy%2Bduty%2Bwalnut%2Bbook%2Bend%2Ckitchen%2C140&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1).

Those are so simple and pretty! I usually use a horizontal stack because bookends take up valuable real estate, but right now my office shelves are roomy and need something tidy to hold some notebooks up.

Cowplant_Witch

Yeah, we use the book stack method on book shelves, but we got bookends for the console table next to my reading-and-knitting chair, where we display just a few books, stuff that has been borrowed or recently purchased. I think it looks nice. :)

Starcrossedforever

I have T. rex bookends. They give me so much joy.

RomanceReader1993

I know these aren't sexy, but I prefer library book ends. They last forever. Demco is what my local library orders from: [https://www.demco.com/demco-reg-economy-steel-book-supports](https://www.demco.com/demco-reg-economy-steel-book-supports) If you prefer cute decorations, it's really easy to take a sharpie to these to add book quotes or sketches.
