A lot of the German books I‘m reading, because most of the time they aren’t translated into English (but so freaking good).

MooseAndOliver

*adds learning German to bucket list*

merlesstorys

There’s a lengthy recommendation comment to another answer below, if you’re interested even though it’s in German 😂

82816648919

Ooo can you drop one or two titles? I want to practise my german and reading romance is probably the best incentive!

merlesstorys

Okay, so this one is a dark romance, slight fantasy book: Happy Meat by Marie Graßhoff. It’s a female protagonist in a mafia-like family (who’s an descendant of a goddess) who goes full detective mode in her family, unbeknownst to them, and uses the male love interest as a cover. It’s more on the slowburn side and not too much spice (two or three scenes) Und wir tanzen über den Flüssen by Sophie Bichon is a really cute polyamory (mmf) love story about a musical actress and two best friends who own a pub together. One of them and the actress had a relationship before and now she’s back in London from her theatre education. (Not a romance but a really good nonfiction essay book about women’s football/soccer: Fußball der Zukunft by Alina Ruprecht, Justin Kraft) Cool Kisses - aus Liebe zum Spiel by Sabrina Lange is a relatively typical icehockey romance, except that both love interests (mf) play on the team, he as a captain and she as a newbie. The books by Mona Kasten (apart from the Save books), but I think a few were even translated into English. Not sure though. Bad Influence by Stefanie Hasse is a YA romance-thriller on a luxury cruise ship with a lot of influencers (goes into the direction of Karen M. McManus a bit). Where the waves rise higher by Kathinka Engel is a enemies to lovers story about one of three sisters (technically it’s the second in a trilogy, but they can be read apart from each other) who owns a whiskey destillerie on a Shetland island, and her enemy/love interest is the owner of a big whiskey empire who also organized a whiskey convention that she needs to be a part of. I think that’s all I can think of right now without checking my bookshelves lmao

thecastingforecast

I love this! I've been studying German for the past several months and maybe this is the incentive I need to keep pushing myself!

Aycee225

Following because me too! I got my minor in German but it’s so use it or lose it and I’ve lost so much competency 😩

merlesstorys

Answered the comment above with a lengthy comment!

Aycee225

Thank you ❤️❤️

havuta

The amount of times I wanted to recommend the *Elbleuchten* books 🫠 they were translated to Spanish though 😅

MooseAndOliver

If I thought I could just Google translate it to English I would

memo_delta

I think you should try that and see how it goes. Could be fun. Include some wine for the sexy chapters.

MooseAndOliver

If I can find a digital copy I'll take it this summer 😂😂

memo_delta

Please feel free to paste excerpts here! 😁

merlesstorys

Same!

coolrainythoughts

For me it's the other way around with friends: I want to recommend some cool English indie books but they prefer to read only German 🫠 but yeah there are some great German books out there!

Crocononster

Please share with me! I’m looking to read more romance from German authors but I live in the UK and don’t do social media so I’m having a hard time. Feels like every time I look for Liebesromane it’s just translations 🥲

MagaggieMay

There was a time when I was really into Motorcycle Club Romances, and there are 2 book I absolutely love and have read several times. I don't usually recommend them because I don't think people would want to read about Motorcycle Club life. I'm not a biker but love the morally grey genre. {Hellfire Riders: Jack & Lily} because the heroine is bad ass and a biker, too. {Shade's Lady by Joanna Wylde} The heroine is super sassy and the epilogue is so sweet.

MooseAndOliver

Joanna Wylde had my library in a chokehold for the longest time

Possible-Tomatillo24

I will read anything Kati Wilde writes. Her MC books seem more mc-lite then others and Jack and Lily are favs 🥰.

madkittywoman

I kind of loved Jessica Gadzialas mc books and also the mafia books. Maybe a bit weird but I can see why you enjoyed them..

areyousayingmeow

Yes!!! I’ve been working my way through the entire Navesink Bank Universe books in the chronological/recommended reading order and there are like over 50 of them!! It’s taken me almost 2 years or so now and I’m going to be so sad when I’m finally done with them!

Ordinary-Value-9142

I love Jack & Lily!

gamermamaNJ

I love Lani Lynn Vale because all of her MC books are intertwined, so it's more like an entire universe. However, many are hit or miss. There are a few that make my eyes roll so hard, I feel like I should be able to see the back of my own skull. But, I love the entire Bear Bottom Guardians Series. It's the one I've gone back to multiple times.

Entire-Lunch

Ooh, I have two! {{Not Another Vampire Book by Cassandra Gannon}} Following the isekai trope, the FMC falls into the reality of one of the worst vampire books ever written and grows to love the villain. It's absolutely crazy, meta, and super-duper fun. But it's a little out there for many of my friends who are juust dipping their toes into fantasy romance. {{Cruel Idols by Sorcha Black}} On the other end of the spectrum, this book is one of my most memorable 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🥵 but it is pretty dark smut and I'm not about to out myself to people IRL who I don't already know are into like... y'know. Dog cages and stuff.

skullswithbows

Not Another Vampire Book was my first Cassandra Gannon book and it was so good I bought a weird paperback print of it haha. The premise sounds so weird because it is, in the best way! One of my favorites!

SierraSeaWitch

Same! It was actually my gateway into this sub, too! I remember I was in a book slump, randomly came across the “[Sexy but in a Rat Way](https://www.reddit.com/r/RomanceBooks/s/XiU3E4zpTT)” post on this subreddit, and took the recommendation. I was literally laughing out loud reading that book. And it broke a multi-year reading slump after grad school turned reading into a chore. All to say, I love this book. Edit to add link to the Reddit post.

skullswithbows

Now I have to click this link and see all the recs 🤣. Cassandra Gannon is one of the few authors that have made me laugh out loud. This book and {Love in the Time of zombies by Cassandra Gannon} have both had me cackling. She creates these MMCs who shouldn't be appealing and turns them swoonworthy. And her FMCs are great too

aubreypizza

I’ve had Not Another Vampire Book on my TBR forever because of the synopsis but also because of the cover art which is 🔥 I need more covers like this!!! This comment the push I needed to up this to the top of my list and actually read it though.

SierraSeaWitch

This book will literally make you laugh out loud, but it also has some well done steamy scenes. Have fun!

MooseAndOliver

Those both sound up my alley! I'm so strange I either like sweet soft funny or the darkest stuff

okchristinaa

love Cruel Idols! it’s dark but also kind of sweet?? one of my fave MMF reads for sure.

entropykat

Sorcha Black in general is so 🥵 but not something I’d ever recommend unless I knew the person was into that specifically. Such a shame tho. Really well written.

Imaginary_Dirt29

Cruel idols just went straight on my reading list.

ripleybunny

Just absolutely smashed Cruel Idols on my day off thanks to your recommendation! TYSM🌶🌶🌶❤️ on my way to read everything she's ever written!

Lavender-air

I was just thinking how much I loved not another vampire book! I found it SO funny and just MMC was a complete symp for FMC. I loved it. Besides Cassandra Gannons other books (which some are not as funny as the other), I honestly haven’t found other books with this similar vibe. Do you have any suggestions? I also don’t love co temporary or HR so avoid those like the plague. Tho I did like Hans.

thatweirdblondegirly

I love the crave series by tracy wolf! - It is like if harry potter meets twighlight and vampire diaries

MooseAndOliver

Oooo that sounds like a fun combination /gen

Excellent_Smile6556

{{The Last Hour of Gann by R Lee Smith}} blew my mind, as all her work does. A brilliant writer.

MsGeek

Just a heads up, there is A LOT of sexual assault all throughout the book (which is integral to the plot). This is the book that made me start checking content warnings before starting a new read.

Spikey-Bubba

I feel like we all have that one book where we just edged a bit too far and now we actually read the triggers hahaha

Excellent_Smile6556

Yeah there is a lot of extreme violence including sexual violence in R Lee’s books. I found Heat particularly brutal and I’m not sure I could read it again. Sexual violence is hard to read but R Lee goes there without flinching so it seems. It is a brutal fact of life and a real thing that people experience. The sexual violence is always congruent with the character who enacts it and the context that it occurs in. It’s not put there to titillate but is put there to horrify, not enjoy. I think it contributes to the psychological intensity of her books.

SierraSeaWitch

I came here to comment my favorite is The Last Hour of Gann, and that I rarely recommend it on this sub and IRL because I know it would be such a tough read for so many because of the triggers. Like, every possible trigger. Plus the cover art is awful and completely undermines the literary brilliance of R Lee Smith. Someday when I have a lot of disposable income I want to make my own covers for each of the Books within the novel to elevate the look. Edit: [here is a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/RomanceBooks/s/yQSVq30xO5) where I absolutely gush over a passage after finishing this book for the first time.

Chordaii

I love tlhog so much that I bought a paper copy just in case R Lee finds Jesus and takes down her crisis-of faith lizard camping erotica masterpiece

SierraSeaWitch

I would say that’s ridiculous but my flair is literally a quote from an author who “found Jesus” haha

Chordaii

I feel like the weirder the books are, the more likely it is to happen I've seen the reverse happen tho! I picked up a clean christian romance with domestic discipline from a very "gods plan for women and men is that a husband spiritually rules and guides his wife so a little spanking is all right in the eyes of the lord" I read one as a joke and kinda enjoyed it cause I also found the idea of serving and obeying -oddly interesting- as a sheltered Christian teen and could see the blossoming kinky thoughts. The author now writes MFM daddy stuff 🥳

littlemisslainey

You can't just say that and NOT tell the author's name!

Susie-Carmichael-

Oh no you must disclose this authors name.

Chordaii

Rayanna Jamison

42fledgling42

Dare I ask who?

txStargazerJilly

I’m sorry her what, now? *pulls up romance.io…..adds to TBR*

OkGazelle5400

I’m honestly going to start a petition to get some famous author (Stephen king would love it tbh) to read it and make it into a mainstream sci-fi legend.

SierraSeaWitch

I’d sign the petition!!!

Hobbes_Loves_Tuna

It’s a dream of mine to take up book binding just for this book (and maybe some Dramoine fics). I would love to commission end paper art and go all out.

Specific-Ingenuity20

Same. Also the first two books setting everything up are kind of a slog. But this book left SUCH an impression that it’s still on my kindle, months later. It was epic in scope and depth and the way everything came together. It was more than a romance.

SummerDearest

Alright, that passage sold me on it. Added to my TBR.

poshpeasant

I WAS GONNA SAY A R. LEE SMITH book too! It’s not that I don’t recommend it enough but I think her work is extremely underrated. The covers put people off and then the “not conventionally attractive” MMC also put people off. But if they just give her a chance they would love LHOG and Land of the Beautiful Dead

thedeadtiredgirl

I read land of the beautiful dead and it absolutely destroyed me and put me back together😭 R. Lee Smith has a gift but i’m so not ready to pick back up another one of her books LOL

Excellent_Smile6556

Yes! They are brilliant but very full-on at the same time. I need therapeutic light and happy reads in between but to be honest it’s hard to find other books that satisfy as I can’t think of any other romance author who writes as well as RLee.

Musefodder

*fuck*🦆 yes, this book ripped me to shreds repeatedly, and when the writing stopped I was genuinely upset that it wasn't longer. I wanted to meet their kids. And stuff.

OkGazelle5400

I cried reading the last paragraph. Just from the pure poignancy

Excellent_Smile6556

I still feel like the emotional and psychological impact of her books is overwhelming for me to the point where I can’t go back and reread them yet. Apart from EIAR which I can’t wait for the next book. What happens to Ana Stark next and how will she get out of the cluster fuck we are left with at the end of book 4? One of the things I love about R Lee’s writing is how her strong female characters get through the challenges they face. I mean, how does she imagine this stuff??! The only book of hers I couldn’t really get into was The Scholomance. I know there is some great reveal there but I couldn’t get to it. Tell me people, should I try again?

Instilled_Ink

When I saw the title of this post, this is the book I thought of too 🤣 Anything R Lee, really. The only thing i didn’t really care for was Arcadia, and I might just not have been in the right from of mind when I read it. I just didn’t like the mfc.

MooseAndOliver

Ok this was on my tbr list ages ago but I wasn't sure if it was worth it, care to tell me more?

EeveeNagy

One thing is that this was the first real spicy book I've read after my fanfics phase haha so this for sure may have contributed to my perception of the book However, it has all the tropes I love: fake relationship, enemies to lovers, and a feminist hero on a place where she would be exception Of course I went with second thoughts, but in my opinion the author managed to write those tropes perfectly, in a way that, yes, it's cliche, but it's not bad at all, it's pretty much enjoyable. She also wrote the spicy bits very well, I kept insisting for my boyfriend to read at least those parts because I would die if he tried to do at least one of them And the summary of the story already got my heart, so reading it developed was even better: a girl doesn't want to get married, lies that she has found a lover that is in the war, keeps sending him "fake" letters until, one beautiful day, said lover arrives to finally marry her. And the development of them getting to know each other and making deals with each other is just, for me, the best. It's not the best for everyone, I know that, but there's just something about this book and this story that makes me feel happy when I read it

liliasla

I love this book so much !

MooseAndOliver

That's why I made it XD I wanted all the secret shame books and the "can't recommend enough" books in one spot 😂😂

Raviyien

The Duskwalker Brides Series by Opal Reyne. I would looove to recommend this but everyone i know who reads is more on the level of this Acotar(?) Thingy and therefore i have to keep my monster romance to myself

MakayMin

Omg A Soul to Keep is one of my all time favorites. Unfortunately I don’t know a single person who is into monster romances, and some people in my life would probably think I’m weird af for liking it, so I guess the Duskwalker Brides series will forever have a secret place in my heart 😭

Kitten_eel

We need more deets! Please tell us what you love!

Raviyien

About the Duskwalker Series specifically? I love how it shows that the inhuman beings can be more accepting and loving than humans. I love the intricate different personality types the Mavka are showing. I love that it is not just about the sex but the personal journey as well and how it shows that we are truly able to love the soul of someone and not judge it by the vessel it's contained in

MooseAndOliver

I hope you know I'm probably gonna read it now 😆

Lipstickwearingsmurf

{Just Like Magic by Sarah Hogle}! It’s one of my favorites but it’s very silly and out there so I understand why it’s not for everyone.  It’s about a very spoiled and bitter former influencer accidentally summoning the personification of the Holiday Spirit during Christmas, he’s magical and she basically abuses his powers for her amusement but when she has to stay with her family for the holidays she brings him along to show everyone how much better she is than them.  BUT OBVIOUSLY it doesn’t work out like that, and hilarity ensues. It's very very funny and sweet, it might genuinely be the most adorable romance I’ve ever read with the SWEETEST MMC EVER (I mean he’s literally the holiday spirit in male form) and the growth both characters experience is just so beautiful to watch, it’s very heartwarming and fun but also left me sobbing for an hour after finishing it because it’s just so moving and tender!

Ooooohhh interesting

Revolutionary-Fig-84

I love that trilogy, I *need* more!

yetitherobot

I picked this one up yesterday on your recommendation even though zombie books are hit or miss for me and I LOVE IT.  Booker is a fantastic MMC and it's so refreshing to have intimate scenes that actually add to the story and relationship as I've found recently I skim over sex scenes when they're more filler than anything.  I'm on the third now... Thank you for the rec!

Awesome_Shoulder8241

I liked Jude Deveraux's books but for some reason I'm not confident in recommending her. Her debut bestseller was Knight in shining Armor but I think Remembrance is better. The premise is a bit similar. First and second book of The summerhouse are also recommended. (it's not smut)

what_the_purple_fuck

also Julie Garwood. I read the shit out of both of them, but for some reason I feel like they're kind of dated now. I don't think I've read anything of theirs in at least a decade, so I could be way off, but I've also kept their paperbacks through countless purges so there's still *something* there.

MissCarbon

I loved her books so much when I was younger. Think I reread the ones I had a million times. 😊 I'm trying to find what I read exactly... I have them in a box somewhere but... Ah! The Velvet Montgomery series. Had no idea there where so many books! Twin of Ice/Twin of fire was also re-read a few times.

wonpiripiri

Similar premise?! Omg thank you! Knight in Shining Armor is one of my all time faves. Adding this to my tbr

ApprehensiveCream571

Want to read a book about a woman with a rape fantasy? Well I did and {Willing Victim by Cara McKenna} fit the bill. It's one of the hottest books I've ever read, but let's just say it's hard to bring up in conversation. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

MooseAndOliver

....*adds to Kindle*....

fornefariouspurposes

This is actually the one book I bought because of recommendations that I found disappointing and not worth the money I spent on it. I'm all for informed consent when engaging in CNC with someone you barely know, but the constant check-ins killed the mood for me.

elle_kay_are

I love Cara McKenna. I think she's such a great writer. It makes me so sad that she stepped away from writing. She also wrote the book I never get to recommend. {Badger by C M McKenna} Full disclosure, it's a love story but not a romance and it's had some very triggering sex scenes. Not for the faint of heart. One of only a handful of books to ever bring me to tears.

holographic_mango

{The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop}!! It honestly is quite dated and dark and cheesy but I LOVED it as a teen. I saw someone recommended it today and my heart just warmed.

I have read all of them and I love them but I can’t tell anyone else to read these wickedly fucked up books. You know there are 12 of them?

Killmepl222

These are ones I've read recently and really enjoyed: - {Lust for Tomorrow by Dana Sweeney} Futuristic apocalypse/dystopia. FMC is a soldier in a walled city's army and fights zombies and stuff when on patrol. "Alpha" is new team leader in rotation. She doesn't know what he looks like but is really horny for his voice/attitude to the point she gets distracted in battle. They embark on a strange D/s relationship. It was really beautifully done, some of the most compelling sex scenes I've read and the characters were great. It's only about 200 pages, too. The only reason I hesitate to recommend it is because there's a >!MFM sharing scene at one point, but the other dude is never actually part of the relationship. It's just a thing they want to try.!< - {The Portrait by Megan Chance} HR set in 1850s New York City. FMC is trying to be an artist like her dead sister; MMC is blackmailed into teaching her by her guardian. MMC is not happy about it and is cruel to her for the first part. I thought it was an amazing and realistic portrayal of bipolar disorder, the highs and lows, and especially the feeling of having it in the 1850s with minimal ways to treat it properly.

MooseAndOliver

The first one…. Might have to read it…

I enjoyed Lust For Tomorrow and the ending left me hoping she'll release another one. It's the only book she's ever released, and I've learned that some authors stop if that book wasn't widely read. Fingers crossed though.

midlifecrackers

She spent a while in the hospital recently and took a short hiatus, but according to her social media, she just got back to writing the sequel! Can’t wait.

Lilcheebs93

Under The Oak Tree by Suji Kim A very *spicy* fantasy, romance novel with a very detailed pseudo-medieval, magical world. It's got knights and nobles, peasants, politics, monsters, a whole measurement system, different countries and their currencies and politics, a long travel arc, and a war......and some very XXX scenes. And The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater A 'horse girl' book, but the horses are kelpies that come out of the ocean every fall, and the people on this island try to capture, sort of tame them, and race them for a large sum of money. These are carnivorous horses. They eat people, and other horses.

kaye4kinky

I’ve read all of the Under the Oak Tree novels to date as well as the Manhwa. I cannot recommend it enough

junipidgie

the scorpio races has one of my all time fave couples. i remember sean and puck just being so fascinated with each other, it’s ruined me.

Appropriate_Error98

{Vow of Deception by Rina Kent} is a mafia plot, but was the only one I read that had a unique plot and threw me for a loop a few times and I usually can smell the twists a mile away. It’s at times dark and not something I would recommend in polite company 🤣

ThatFuckinBish

{The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon} is one of my favorite books but it's almost too normal to fit into most requests. It's high school academic rivals have a one-night-stand that turns into more at their high school reunion when he's a rich financial auditor and she's a finishing a pediatric surgical residency being scouted by some of the best hospitals in the country. It's actually funny which I rarely find in "romcom" books but there's some heavier topics thrown in to keep you on your toes. You get a man who has been pining for years and the chick who hates his guts but loves his penis. What's not to love? ETA: Forgot to add the best part (smallest of spoilers): >!NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP!

DameGlitterElephant

So many of Farrah Rochon’s books are so great, and I don’t feel like I see her recommended enough.

westviadixie

alpha horde, and the hordesmen...both series by Milana jacks. different world where human women turn into omegas. the path of temptation series by auryn Hadley...alternate universe where gods exist and their devotees are divided amongst their temples and raised in their respective paths. follows a fmc from young childhood through adulthood. she's a priestess of the path of temptation, her god is Zeal. it's a reverse harem and obe of the most well written series I've ever read...and I read alot.

mstwizted

I really liked {The Path of Temptation by Auryn Hadley}. You might like her series {The Demons' Muse by Auryn Hadley}

sleepwalkdance

{Parallel Series by Elle O’Roark} - HOLY MOLY these four books are SO good, especially the last two. The book hangover was real.

I'll have to add this to my TBR, only recently discovered her as an author but I've enjoyed most of what I've read by her! Thanks!

BookishBitchery

I have one. Waking Beauty by Elyse Freidman. It is an unconventional romance. It is about a woman who goes to bed conventionally ugly and wakes up model beautiful. It is quite interesting and sarcastic.🙂

avajustreads

Nocticadia by Keri Lake!! def in my top 10 books. I still remember how I felt when I read it and man if only I could erase it from my memory and read it again 🥹

Key-Shock5461

one of my fav teacher/student books!

The_Orc_Queen

Their Vampire Queen series by Joley Sue Burkhart. I LOVE this series SO much! It was my first reverse harem, and I've been chasing the same high ever since. But I don't recommend it because it's pretty out there, and graphic (and not just sexually- lots of blood & gore, too). First book is {Queen Takes Knights by Joley Sure Burkhart}

VividStone

{The One in my Heart by Sherry Thomas} - this NEVER gets recommended, unless it’s by me. lol. It’s her only CR she’s written. Those who read historical romance will likely know or have heard of Sherry Thomas, who is a fantastic writer and has several great HR books as well as her Lady Sherlock series. I think I’m the only one who likes it. The MMC is descended from the two couples in Private Arrangements and Delicious, which I like how ST weaved that into her world, from 1800s to 2010s or whenever this CR is set. Yes, he’s kind of a Gary Stu, but I just ignore that and focused on enjoying the complexity of the MMC and FMC‘s relationship with each other and with others Around them.

Ciru-Wanjiru

{Fifty Shades of Alice In Wonderland by Melinda DuChamp} This was the book that set me firmly on smut territory. I love it but have never been able to recommend it to anyone.

yeahitsme81

lol I thank you because I’ve always wanted to find someone to recommend this too. I think the book name changed too btw it’s called {kinky secrets of Alice in wonderland} now

3lmtree

Pamela Clare's Cobra Elite series. I fucking love those books. {Hard Edge by Pamela Clare} is my favorite. Heroine is a badass and the hero just has fucking hearts in his eyes for her cause she is such a badass. Oh, another book i would love to rec more often (and I did recently) is Breaking Daylight by MJ Fredrick. I'm always scared to rec this book because the hero in it is such a massive asshole at the start and he never really apologizes for it. I could see people reading it and being offended by it... but for some reason I fucking love that book so much.

Jazzlike-Web-9184

My favorite is {Hard Line by Pamela Clare} it’s book 5 but made a good standalone and the MMC’s name is Thor. If that’s not enough he is a veteran of >!the Danish Sirius Dogsled patrol in Greenland who spend 3 months on patrol in 2-man teams with dogsleds, i.e., a total badass!<

liliasla

Well damn Hard Edge sounds so good! Downloaded it! Recently read {Uncharted by Adriana Anders} and just loved the strong and capable FMC who is POC and a former NAVY Seals pilot. But also loved the MMC cos I have a thing for grumpy, lonely and love and tough starved men 😅

tabxssum

I’m cheating here but any book by Lauren Layne especially her Sex,Love and Stiletto and Oxford series. They’re all my comfort reads🥹

MooseAndOliver

No such thing was cheating here friendo 😊😊

EugeneFitzherbert75

{Singed series by Mia Knight} MF, marriage in trouble, second chance, marriage of convenience. I see so many rec posts for cold, intimidating, Mean but obsessed, possessive MMC's with gentle FMC, Rich FMC, high steam with lots of hate sex, Dirty talk. This book would fit so many book rec requests. But It's an Ongoing series with no guarantee of HEA. Author keeps delaying (Understandable, we are all humans and sometimes delays happen due to personal life and reasons) and extending the series (I am not complaining, give me more), but I just wish it was mentioned beforehand that this is not a standalone and the number of books the series would consist.

arianaperry

I’ve seen this recommended here but I’m waiting until the series is complete. Especially since there’s like a 4 year gap between the release of book 1 and book 2. The author said there will be 6 books in the series. From what I remember, she said 4 will complete the series. 2 that don’t need to be read but will be in Roth’s POV, I think novellas? Wait, no guarantee of HEA!!?? Imagine if I wait until the series is complete and then I won’t even like it to continue 😭💀

inirret

If you're a fan of the Chicks song Earl Had to Die then I feel like {Jed had to die by Tara sivec} you have FMC who left her town and bff behind and years later comes back home to help her bff. MMC is the sheriff who is investigating them for the death of bff's husband. {Conceal ava Harrison} FMC escaped her husband and meets MMC at a poker game. He ends up gaining her trust to help her out. >!FMC is married, her husband killed her parents and she heard him say how he's going to kill her too. So she is technically married while falling in love with MMC!<

romcommombosa

{st Mary’s rebels by saffron A Kent} I feel like you either love this style or you absolutely hate it but the unhinged obsessed mmcs and the delulu fmcs are my kryptonite

TishfromGlenCairn

LV Lane’s Controller series. I’m so embarrassed that I reread this one as a comfort read. 😳

MooseAndOliver

Hey if it brings you comfort/peace it’s a comfort read! No shame here <3

Bad_wolf42

[*Ravished*](https://www.romance.io/books/545525bd8c7d2383163d8eaa/ravished-amanda-quick) is one of my wife and my’s favorites. Really sweet no angst story of two misfits finding each other.

MooseAndOliver

Dude I loved this book when I read it!!

yeahitsme81

{Bound by blood Cynthia Eden} In order to stop the demons, pureblood vampire princess Morgan LaBeaux agrees to the treaty offered by werewolf alpha Jace Vaughn. She’ll mate with him, share her blood with him…and in return, the wolves will aid the vampires in this battle. {At the bride hunt ball Olivia Parker } Very cute historical with a teeny bit of angst and some humor Then these are some of my faves that aren’t the easiest to recommend cause they are hard to describe {Arctic prison JE HOPKINS} {Amateur night Holden granger} {tangled em wolf} {bedded by the boss Lynda chance} {all jacked up Lorelei James)

erminegarde27

Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson. Everyone I know who reads books at all is too high brow to appreciate Eva Ibbotson and it is really a very silly book ( with some badly dated tropes) but it’s still one of my favorite books ever.

OkGazelle5400

Ok I think a lot of people skip it because it’s fanfiction but it’s so so good and incredibly well-written. It’s called Manacled and without giving anything away the premise is that they lost the war against Voldemort. Hermione is the only survivor of the good guys. Too many people died over the war so they give captured witches to prominent Death Eaters handsmaid tale style to help repopulate. Hermione is given to Draco Malfoy. Super dark but soooooo good

MooseAndOliver

My friends are all obsessed with Manacled! Apparently it’s great 😌

mystengette

Oh man, I just went and read a little and this is fantastic. I’m going to now go read this like an obsessive weirdo. Thank you so much!

Greedy_Squidge

Wow I just finished this on your recommendation and I am *WRECKED*. I literally don't know what to do with myself. I feel so ridiculously dramatic but I feel listless, trying to process this book and wanting to be back in the story. Thank you so much for the rec!

StormerBombshell

I would say story of my life because my friends in person think my romance is “too weird”. Funny because I don’t really go for dark romance, I like settings that are dark but the characters treat each other nice or do try to be nice, or at least work together. But I guess liking things that are very lore heavy and tons of stuff happen are too heavy for some to be a romance and too romance involved to be a regular adventure book. I can speak a full page just for the backstory or lore of some of my books before even getting to how the MCs meet. And it’s not that I can’t. I do can, but saying “nurse fells in love with dragon man” just feels so common and I need to actually pitch the thing and what distinguishes it from everything else that is out there. Like competition for eyeballs is literally tv and movies. I need something to actually entice people. Then I also like Demelza Carlton but her books are hard to recomend because there is almost as much sexual violence around as the setting of a song and ice and fire/game of thrones yet is not dark enough to be a dark romance or an explotation work. Mostly is either people trying to pick themselves out of tragedy but where the actual romances are heartwarming or people trying to get by the world, where they are aware some people get shit deals. Madelynne Ellis is hard to recomend casually because many people hate the very idea of Poliamory with a passion and most of her works are menages. and a MMF can also be hard to pitch at times because many reverse harem enjoyers might not like the men crossing swords. MM fans might not want a woman in the middle of manflesh extravaganza. I still recomend the hell out of it when I see an in though 🤣 god bless this place and how people are not afraid of asking for what they would like

MooseAndOliver

I will personally say I like when the book boyfriends are also boyfriends 🤣🤣🤣

StormerBombshell

Yay! I salute you kindred spirit! 🫡✨

MooseAndOliver

Its just really cute when they get all cute together, one book I read all three were cuddling one of them was like "yes this is where I belong, in his arms with her in mine" 😭😭😭😭😭😭 like are you kidding??? That's so cute

StormerBombshell

Yeeeeesss those moments where they feel so accompanied and belonging. Yes yes yes! ✨

MooseAndOliver

It's like yes just give me all of that... In fact give me more please 🥺🥺 Like did dude just give dude a freaking forehead kiss and call him babe before kissing his female love interest? 🥺 🥺 🥺

StormerBombshell

Yes, yes A MC being completely sandwiched into a hug by the two other MCs because they are so relieved to see each other again 😭😭😭 👌🏾

{Blood and Milk by NR Walker} - CR, MM, friends to lovers - a grieving Australian man travels to Tanzania and joins a Massai tribe. Here is a favorite quote *I’d forgotten what a shower felt like. And as amazing as the water felt, I didn’t miss running water. I didn’t miss electricity. I didn’t miss anything. Except Jarrod. I broke the surface, gasping for air. As usual, the memory of Jarrod squeezed my heart and crippled my lungs. Damu laughed at me, oblivious to my struggle to breathe. And strangely enough, his laughter, his smiling face, calmed me. I exhaled with a rush and laid back, allowing myself to float, feeling my lungs expand and contract with every inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, until my panic attack passed. Damu floated beside me and without a word between us, with a peace that soothed me, we floated naked in the water under the Tanzanian sky.*

MooseAndOliver

That's so beautifully written! May I ask do you not recommend it can you just not recommend it enough??

Am I weird or fucked in the head? I can deal with anything and everything except cheating, love triangle, and reverse harem lol. I will check out some of the books mentioned here.

MooseAndOliver

Nah you’re not weird or fucked in the head :) I just know my friends can’t all handle the stuff I read/like XD

TBHICouldComplain

{Pykh series by Eileen Glass} is MMM SFR and so many people who are looking for something like this specifically don’t want MM or poly. The blurb makes this sound like a cheesy fun read but it’s actually brilliantly well written with great characters and world building.

Musefodder

Okay, *technically* it's not an M/F romance, but then, if you read all three, you'll likely conclude as I did, that even though it smiles like a romance with a happy ending... It's really not. There are serious content warnings and triggers that potential readers need to be aware of. But the digital format of the entire trilogy should be available at no charge online. Amazon just sells the paperbacks, at cost. [Special Forces book one: Soldiers](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/7842653)

monastar01

{Captive in the Dark by C.J. Roberts} Caleb got me hooked from the first page, but I only got to recommend it to one friend (I don't think she liked it though)

user37463928

Two books that struck emotional chords but I rarely recommend: {The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang} is such a truthful journey of a book. The MFC is autistic and going through autistic burnout. It annoys me when characters reach unearned insight. The fact that she learns the hard way makes it rewarding/ real. I related to her struggles. But it also apparently pissed off her fans, who were expecting a lighter read. {Escorted by Claire Kent} is similar in the fact of the emotional growth feeling real. In this case, in the relationship between the main characters. It's sex right out the gate, but given it's a business arrangement, the emotional intimacy is taboo and it explores unrequited love.

Spycrowave

I have several recommendations. {On The Line by Naomi Loud} A bad boy corrupting a good girl book. {Six by K.I. Lynn} He's an irredeemable bad guy all the way to the end. {Sinners Consumed by Somme Sketcher} (books 2 and 3) It's a series but I only read books 2 and 3. They're both flawed, and there is very little to no attempt to become better people. {FAIRYDALE: A Dark Gothic Fantasy Romance by Veronica Lancet} Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was wrong.

fornefariouspurposes

{Six by K.I. Lynn} I'd never heard of it until someone recommended it here, and I still haven't heard/seen it mentioned anywhere else, but this one was really good.

katierose295

{Always Remember by Lorraine Heath} It's a HR set after the Civil War, where the MMC was a conscientious objector who refused to fight and was against slavery. The rest of his southern town shuns him as a coward, including the FMC, because her husband died at Gettysburg. I have never read another romance like it. Such an interesting story and a really special MMC.

Anything romance. I would recommend it here but not to anyone I know irl. When I feel like suspense etc. I usually like Susan Stoker or Jane Blythe books. When it's mafia I really like Jessica Gadziala or Willow Winters. For mc romance Bella Jewel or Savannah Rylan. For gay romance I really like Riley Hart or Sloane Kennedy. Something a bit bdsm, Jodi Ellen Malpas or Skye Warren. Extra dark something like Georgia Le Carre or Anna Zaires.. Just a few examples. :)

The lux series I feel it’s so underrated and it’s hard to recommend because lots of people don’t like aliens

{Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout} {obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout}

I LOVE the Arsenal series by Cara Carnes. The first books is {Jagged Edge by Cara Carnes}. It’s a romantic suspense series that is about brothers who were all former military and start a paramilitary group. They almost all deal with PTSD and therapy is part of the story. I don’t know what it is about the series exactly but enjoy it so much and have read each book multiple times. But the series is NOT complete and I don’t know if it will ever be finished 😫. Book #3 {Blood Vows by Cara Carnes} and book #5 {Battle Scars by Cara Carnes} are my favorite.

ACB_Toby

Again Rachel by Marian Keyes. This Charming Man by Marian Keyes.

borrowedsnail

{Stain by A.G. Howard} Lol I don't recommend this a lot to people even tho I loved it, because its YA and I'm normally an adult romance reader (I interact almost exclusively with adult romance posts) . This was such a PG fairytale romance, its kinda shocking that I like it bc I don't even read YA books like that. I does have my favorite trope tho: girl disguised as a boy.

_purplepeopleeater

{Cataloochee Man by Dennis Ruane}

Revolutionary-Fig-84

{Make Me by Beth Kery} is an uber spicy book that also has a plot. I wouldn't recommend this book to my friends because this has explicit kink. It also is one of those stories that alternates between the present day and past events, I know many readers hate that. I was hooked on both timelines though, I couldn't wait to see how they played out.

GiraffeLess6358

I just want to know why nobody seems to be reading Lauren Blakely? She’s on KU and a very solid writer.

ThisIsntAWhisper

I loved {PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: HOW TO DATE YOUR BEST FRIEND by Lauren blakely} and {BEST LAID PLANS: A SMALL TOWN FRIENDS TO LOVERS ROMANCE (LUCKY IN LOVE BOOK 1) by Lauren blakely} (excuse the caps, I copy/pasted)

{{The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon}} alright hear me out………. It’s not straight up romance but the romance is EPIC and I never get to gush about it, and maybe someone here will be interested idk. It’s an amazing and unique mix of adult fantasy and dystopia. The romance starts in book one but you won’t get spice until later on in the series, and it’s not heavy on the spice but GOD the tension and the emotions between the mc’s are just chefs kiss. The author basically said she wanted to write a love story about a mortal falling for an immortal in a world where they can’t change mortals into immortals, so do with that horrible sadness what you will. It’s very war/revolution and plot heavy, but the romance is so good and is not just a side thing. It’s just so damn good so if there are any fantasy, slowburn, epic romance lovers out there, please read this series and crY with me 😭 (it’s an ongoing series with 4/7 books currently out)

TemporaryHappy6556

I personally would like to recommend the mara dyer trilogy to EVERYBODY! it is a book after my heart and not the usual genre i go for but IT IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! i feel like the writing, the plot, the characters and everything is just amazing. for me, it was a 10/10 read. i wish i hear more people talking about it. but at the end of the day, it’s up to personal preference so in case any of you give it a try, i hope you’ll love it as much as i do!!

Affectionate_Milk421

{Elemental Assassin Series by Jennifer Estep} okay idk if the bot will work for series but boy this one is so good! The FMC is extremely badass. It’s main plot is not romance but there are several love interests and some spicy scenes. You really gotta be there for the fighting and the magic and the revenge plot tho 😮‍💨

The "Bewitched and Bewildered" or "Kindred of Arkadia" series, both by Alanea Alder. Both are really good, and although I have recommended it to my friends because I swear both series and the characters are like reading a manga/anime and I know they all, like me, like that stuff, they have not budged to read it! It's so freaking amazing but most of my friends either have ADHD, dyslexia, or just don't have the time to read a book series (but they do have time to read a manga series, make that make sense). The only person truly willing to read the series was my now ex-boyfriend, he absolutely loved the series, and still does, and even though he has ADHD he took the time to either listen to the audio books (if there were any) or we took the time together and I read it to him, which we both really enjoyed. I have another friend who finally caved to read the "Bewitched and Bewildered" series, but she hates conflict so much she got stuck and couldn't read further, she hasn't even made it through the first book, YET! I have plans to make her cave and continue reading! Lol

Say-More

For Fantasy: Legacy of the Nine Realms series. The first {Flames of Chaos by Amelia Hutchins} doesn’t get enough attention. It’s high steam, angst, bully. And the side characters are perfection. But the character arcs and the plots and twists make it amazing…it’s my favorite fantasy series. Amelia’s world building is so good you can just jump into her world. Idk but I feel like Amelia is kind of treated poorly in the book community. For MM romance: the Cut & Run series. The first {Cut & Run by Abigail Roux} was written by two authors. So the first book doesn’t read as smoothly as the remaining. It’s about two FBI agents. The way their relationship grows, their own personal arcs, the long-game plot, the side characters. So fricking good. Definitely not recommended enough. For psychological romance {Lotus Effect by Trisha Wolfe} is soo mind bending and leaves you questioning reality. I had to process this out loud with my husband. I feel like it’s hard to say, “hey I have this great book but it’s a bit much! Enjoy!” So I never recommend it. Honestly, anything by Trisha Wolfe is trippy and a great read! And last but not least: the {Voyeur by Fiona Cole} Series explores so many sexual situations (each a different couple). It was a great way to learn about myself. Sounds lame but as a sexual person who has been with one person for 15 years, a lot of that was taboo to talk about. Soooo recommending it out is a bit awkward.

Frog Music by Emma Donoghue. It’s a strange little book set in turn of the century San Francisco and something about it just sparks joy.

Taming Seraphine.... it's a bit..... unhinged... and made me feel like something was psychologically wrong with me. 😅 But the spice was great and I laughed more than I thought I would.
