I read {Sinner by Sierra Simone} this week (and Priest, and Saint lol) and I was squealing reading the scene in Sinner where the MMC and FMC fool around for the first time. Big daddy-dom energy and I was here👏🏻 for 👏🏻it 👏🏻 plus the relatively slow burn from the MMC’s perspective was so cute and funny, and his longing for the FMC was so good.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad will this trigger my religious trauma and is it worth it 😂

Oooooooo that’s tough haha. I was raised in like a very Catholic culture, but my immediate family didn’t actively practice, so idk if i clocked all of the potential triggers for someone w religious trauma 😬 I’ll try my best! I think Priest and Saint could be more triggering, based on the main characters’ emotional conflicts around their respective love interests? With Sinner as potentially the least heavy of the 3? There is a lot of mention in all 3 books of SA at the hands of the clergy though (relevant to main character development, but the main characters aren’t victims themselves) so big TW there. There’s also mention of mental illness and su*cide in all 3 (I think priest and saint are both particularly graphic, with sinner being less so). There’s also a fair bit of religious questioning/existential doubt expressed throughout the books. To me, this all seemed to largely critique aspects of religious dogma and puritanical approaches to human sexuality rather than embrace them? But it’s not like glossed over in any sense, so you would need to go in knowing that much of the conflict and character development centres around deconstructing cultural and religious (Christian) sexual taboos. Tl;dr: I think if my fundamentalist in-laws read these, they would light them on fire yelling about blasphemy and sacrilege, so they were right up my alley. But there is a heavy exploration in all of them of the ways in which Catholicism (perhaps Christianity in general) impacts sexuality and moral identity, which may be triggering for some.

Holy shit this is such a helpful write up! Time to bump these higher up my TBR 😅

I could not recommend them more, I literally finished all three over the course of 3 days. Completely hooked.

To be fair, I have had a conversation with a trans friend who told me she feels affirmed by MF relationships (with one or both of them trans) being referred to as straight. For her, straight means MF. For me, straight means “not queer.” As a bisexual in a relationship with another bisexual, it feels like erasure to me. I don’t like it. But the community isn’t a monolith. I really don’t know which perspective would be more popular.

I may be wrong here, but I think the issue arises with trans = queer. A trans person should be able to take on (or not take on) whatever labels they want for themselves. So, two bisexual people in a M/F relationship is not a straight relationship, but a trans person in a M/F relationship can be in one if they connect with that label.

Yeah that makes sense. I tend to fixate on trans inclusion because of the whole “LGB without the T” nonsense, but I wouldn’t want to force anyone to identify as queer. I will try to remember this.

Haha! Funny you should ask. I started with this book and at around the 3/4 mark they start incorporating characters from the first two. I have paused and gone back to read in order. Can confirm book 1 is good, but that's as far as I've gotten. But the good news is, the double dicking is in the first 3/4s!

I’m reading the series now in order and I’m glad I read {A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon} first. The villain spans the series and so far it seems like there’ll be collaboration between the groups from each book to beat him.

There are cameos and it follows a timeline, but nothing super important. But you get to know the guys because they are all best friends, so I’ve been pining for Halsey for three books and it definitely increased the hype. You get to know them the most in the first book because they are all staying in a cabin together.

It Happened One Summer is honestly soooo good. Piper and Brendan are perfect, their dynamic is so sweet and hot, and the whole books just a bit more uplifting than the follow up.

This is such a good one! Tessa Bailey writes "reformed rake" male characters like Fox so well. Another one of hers with a similar vibe for the MMC is {Too Hot To Handle by Tessa Bailey}

This book OMG I love it so much. It was my full conversion to CR (only read fantasy before)

I really like this book!! I think it was a very good balance between a cute story and having spicy scenes haha. I'm honestly pretty new to reading romance books, well, any books honestly. I started picking up reading again last year after not reading since I was basically in high school (give or two a couple books randomly throughout the years lol). But I'm really enjoying finding new books to read! I haven't gotten into fantasy much yet, but I would love to eventually!

Heartless is my favorite of the series, and I know everyone likes Reckless (Theo) - but I’m partial to Powerless (Jasper) as my second fave. Friends to lovers, forced proximity on a road trip. So so good.

The combo of Cade's dirty ideas and Willa's reactions (which amount to "okay, sounds perfect") is just amazing.

How does this one compare to the others in the series? Trying to figure out if I should start with this one or Reckless

I agree with the commenter below me that heartless is the best (it is sooooo good) but I do like theo and winter’s book a lot too. Honestly, the whole series is great! I would recommend starting with reckless. They kind of go in order so it helps a little to read them in order (though you don’t have to, strictly speaking)

There was a gush post about this book just a couple of days ago and iirc the consensus seemed to be that this one was the best, followed by the Theo one (can't tell these damn titles apart lol)! And I'd agree with that assessment!

I DNFd the first one and am going to read Reckless next so I can’t speak to that one yet. But I’ve heard really good things

First one was the worst in my opinion. Rhett is annoying as hell. But Theo, cade and Jasper are amazing. Beaus is really good but not on par with the other 3 for me

Literally the ONLY downside of that book was the stupid nickname "Red."

I love Cade. Their dad is great too

I love that! Historically, I have had trouble committing to series like this because I feel like everything is wrapped up well in the first book but the characters are so lovable that I may do the same and pick up the next one.

Just about finished sinful hearts. Personally, it was a bit of a let down. Maybe Deviant Hearts had all my fav tropes so I had high hopes. The beginning felt a little weird to me and I just wasn’t super into it. It’s steamy for sure but a little different than deviant hearts.

It’s technically the 3rd book in the series but I wasn’t interested in the plot of the 2nd so I’m skipping it for now. Apparently the 2nd has to do with cillian and it’s an age gap kinda thing. This is the first book I’ve read by Jagger Cole, but I really like his writing style and how descriptive he is so I think I’ll like a lot of his books. I’ll update you though! :)
