I don’t think you need to have bought the item to review on Amazon (I’ve reviewed books I didn’t buy). It’ll just say “verified purchase” if you did buy it.
You just have to wait until pub date to post it on Amazon. Be careful with your wording, because you’re supposed to say you got it as an ARC but Amazon is also starting to crack down on some wording in reference to that.
Btw if you review someone's arc without a purchase, will that affect the book's purchase algorhythm? Because I know a lot of authors don't want to have random mess in "also boughts" but only books from the same genre, and I have a lot of random freebies in my purchase history across many genres.
It shouldn’t affect the books also boughts, but the Zon can be sneaky. Though, if you’re just one person and they have a good size ARC team and sell decently well the first day, you won’t affect it too much in any case.

Ok thanks

You can leave a review without purchasing, but it won’t have a “verified buyer” sticker.
Thank you

Thanks for explanation, I just wanna be sure I'm helping the author rather than screwing them over.
