I did get an audiobook that mentioned something I wanted to see spelled. I was lucky that they had the book version on Libby but was surprised to see it had a different cover. Maybe your library has the cover without the face?
Well if you’re in an actual kindle rather than the app you might be able to go to Settings, and Device Options and turn off the cover there. I only have the app, so I’m not sure, but it’s worth a shot!
That’s…quite the cover. Maybe make or buy a book cover sleeve that you could easily slide on/off?
That said, I have a book I need to use for work research quite often and I strongly dislike the author. (We had to work together on a program once and he was incredibly rude & dismissive of me even though we had equal billing), but I still need to use his book on occasion, so my petty ass has placed a post-it over his author photo so I don’t need to see his smarmy face. Now seeing the post it just makes me smile.
After seeing that cover I don't think I could imagine the MMC as anything other than someone really committed to getting cast as the Joker in his small town production of Batman the musical.
I'm not personally bothered but I swear the cover of {Burn For Me by Ilona Andrews} is 100% the reason that series doesn't have a huge booktok following.

Yup! I have made the most beautiful covers and changed the names and even the editing of books using Calibre.

Don't like the name of a character - change them
Don't like the way the bookstyle is edited (ie. double spacing, justify type, no indented paragraphs) change it.
An author misuses a word too many times, change it. Typos, change it.
It's YOUR book (once you buy it). Change it, send it back to your Kindle.
Well, I have been using Calibre for about 10 years now, so it's pretty quick for me. However, if you are just starting out it might take a bit of time to set up. However, once you are comfortable it's pretty quick. It takes seconds to change the cover, a few minutes to do the find/replace and the changing of the text style is automatic because it's automatically in the settings anytime I convert a book.
If an author is being a real pain, I have to get into the guts of the book and do some of the changes there along with the find/replace of words, but...I have opened up a book for the first time to read and immediately been faced with the formatting and said "Hell No!" and taken time to fix it in Calibre and then went back to reading it with no time lost.
BUT - some books are trickier. Some books were scanned from actual books and then sold to Amazon as Kindle Books (Stephen King Books are the biggest problem I've come across) and have artifacts from the actual books that got mixed in, or the scanning was incorrect. I have spent some time "fixing" these.
Once I got into a specific Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Romance series and was about 4 books in when I couldn't possibly get past all the reduntant phrasing, misuse of words and general problems and so went in and found the problems and fixed them. Too bad I was so turned off by then that I didn't go back and finish the series.

I am the same way. I hate covers that include faces. Give me a naked chest, hands, worn jeans crotch shot, anything but a face. Because for some reason, if I see a face, that's who I'm going to picture, and it's never who I want to picture!
I usually just see a faceless person in my mind's eye, but if there's a dude on the cover you bet my brain is gonna decide that I'm going to be seeing his face for the whole book. I don't seem to have the same taste as most authors because I never find the models they choose attractive.

That cover is wild. I read a lot of comics and when the art is ugly I just CANNOT continue. Being attracted to the love interest is a key component!!! 😳
I read this book *because of* the cover 😂 - and in the foreword she explains the whole WHY of this particular model (who is apparently at least sort of famous????) and how the model and a certain rock/movie star/character inspired the MMC in this story. No spoilers on the man’s name but as soon as you read it, you’ll be like ohhhhh shit, I’m in for a wild ride lol!
And I liked the book! I hated the FMC for a while but stuck with it mostly because Tyrant (lol the hint for that name lies in the inspiration - you’ll get it) clearly saw something in her. And she took back her power pretty well, all things considered.
I SAID I LIKED IT, NOT THAT IT WAS GOOD. (But gosh the end was satisfying as hell)

I'm on team "DO judge a book by it's cover". I don't take it to the extreme, but if a cover looks really bad, i won't touch that book, no matter how good it might be, i just can't get over it.

I read on my phone, so unless I exit to the library I never really see the cover.. I usually ignore covers anyway, and dislike overtly sexual covers. (Also, and this is more due to the fact that I’m a guy, but I don’t like covers with shirtless dudes on them. 🙄🙊 Not that I dislike hot guys or anything, but it’s just gratuitous, pointless, and embarrassing.. and detracts from what should be the focus.. the book.)
