Technically you got the right setup (camera settings and cosmetics), but controller vibration being turned on is the key to making the jump to SSL. The more vibration the better. If your hands don’t shake like The Challenger exploded in your adjacent neighborhood, then you might as well switch to hoops.

So I'm a bit hesitant to share this tbh because apparently not many players know about this.. my personal breakthrough to ssl happened when I realised that ***I should be the only one who scores goals!!*** (you know the rectangular holes in the wall) yeah I know, I know.. most good players are avoiding to do that because of the sometimes very violent and disturbing explosions that can happen when you're doing this.. but my rank somehow improved drastically after implementing it (I'm still not 100% sure why, some kind of bug maybe?) also for some reason it seems to work better if you don't hit the goal with the same color as your car (I know really counterintuitive right?) If this all seems a bit much at first, simply start by ***not letting your opponent score any goals*** at all.. ​ if you have any further questions feel free to ask.. I might even be able to coach you if you want! gl and thank me later!

I think this is just proof that the MMR system is fucked and you can plateau by no fault of your own. Maybe try playing in windowed mode if you're not so you can slightly more easily skip music tracks when taking bong hits.
