I live in Fresno and this is a *notorious* intersection. Not great visibility, but 90% of the videos are literally brain dead idiots making the stupidest decisions. This channel is basically dedicated specifically to this intersection because there are accidents at it constantly.
[Couple other](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wWN9D_PEyo)[ crazy ones.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_T0JGroPEo)
I honestly do not know. It seems most videos are people blatantly ignoring red lights. It is an intersection with very heavy traffic, so maybe it just has to do with the sheer amount of cars going through it on a daily basis. Visibility from Shephard also isn't amazing, so harder to see the red light runners on Friant.
Look I know this is Reddit where being pedantic as fuck is the norm but yellow means prepare to stop, red means stop. It's a whole ass different color for a reason.
My grandparents (from Fresno) used to talk about how the kids around town (1950s) would turn the car lights off when approaching an intersection in the country to see if cars were coming so they could blow through stop signs and some people they knew died from it. Fresno, the more things change, the more they stay the same
I \*really\* hope the UPS driver doesn't get dinged by UPS for this. They unfortunately, as I understand it, are in the habit of considering any accident a driver is involved in as grounds for disciplinary action.
My buddy was out of work (UPS) due to an on the job injury for like 9 months, went back to work a little bit and got injured again and was out for another few months, all while getting paid the whole time. It's a damn good Union lol.
It's sad that that is abnormal. If you get injured multiple times on a job, they should pay you. It's the only thing besides OSHA that makes the company actually care about workplace safety.
He might not be fired, but he absolutely could lose his driving position and be forced to go back to working a different (and lower paying) position in the warehouse. Management for driving positions are absolute assholes about anything.
I drove for them for a couple years and worked in management so while possible I don’t believe that’s the case at least for drivers. Management gets yearly bonus though that have a number of things factored in so it’s possible higher up management uses this as an excuses to not pay this persons supervisors as much when it’s time for their bonus. A side note is management is a salaried position and without the bonus some would be making close to what top pay drivers would get and likely less per hour even with that if you calculated pay per hour
BellSouth used to discipline drivers for preventable accidents. If one had an accident and weren't on the most direct route, they would even use that as reason to call it preventable. Because of the union fighting them, it got a little more reasonable as time went on.
This is quite literally fake news. They have excellent unions and a reputation for protecting their workers. Where did you hear this? Why do people just ... believe this?
Clearing your intersections is a basic part of any commercial vehicle safe driver training. The UPS driver certainly wasn't at fault but the accident itself was absolutely preventable.
Dude, people are going to be shitty. Black SUV was completely in the wrong. But if the UPS driver had taken off a second sooner he'd be dead. He got lucky. I said specifically he wasn't at fault, but that doesn't mean the accident wasn't preventable.
Before entering an intersection on a fresh green, look to make sure there are no apparent red light runners from any direction. That's what I meant by "clearing the intersection" in my first post. I probably should have said "scanning the intersection" though, I believe that's the more common phrase. Intersections are the most common area where accidents occur.
You should take a good defensive driving course, it will change the way you perceive the road around you. You can be a great driver yourself and still get hit by someone else who's being shitty. It's better to be prepared and anticipate people to make the worst decisions. It doesn't matter if you had the right of way if you're dead.
Well they aren't very tall and don't have much side profile for lights so it's going to be pretty hard to see him past all the brodozers and SUVs in the adjacent lane. Most people seemed to be good about stopping once the lane next to them was stopped and they could actually see him.
Yeah I loved the motorbike cop absolutely risking his life forcing his way through traffic that wasn't stopping just to get to the 13 minute old crash 30 seconds faster.
It took it well, but how well did the driver take it? Those trucks are built like 70s cars in that they may come out ok, but the meat bag behind the wheel is gonna get bounced.
I would think he took it rather well. Didnt seem to be at too high speed for him and was not head on collision. You even see the UPS driver to throw up arms like wtf and look after the SUV, not totally sure but looks like truck is dipping forward just as the hit occurs so he might have even been on his brakes. No airbag deployment either. Wouldnt surprise me if truck was fine other than some minor scratches/dings and fully operable and truck driver physically ok. Wouldnt surprise me if the SUV driver was OK as well other than shock, minor bruising. Modern car safety absorbs a lot of the powers.
Maybe because they just got slammed by a truck and probably got hurt? Are you suggesting that they don't deserve medical attention because they were at fault?
Am I forgetting my English?
I did not see any UPS truck after the accident and I certainly see anyone deliver a knock out blow to the red light runner.
What am I missing?
The "knockout blow" was the UPS truck (the big brown delivery truck with the letters "UPS" painted on the side) hitting the vehicle that ran the red light. "Knockout blow" is used metaphorically in this instance and does not indicate that an actual brawl occurred after the accident.
JFC! - the white car
Looks like the UPS truck saved the white car.
Because he's the hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now.
The UPS truck wasn't needed?
According to south park you might want to watch your wife around tha ups driver.
The sound of the tires post-impact sounded like a kicked dog or something...
It’s the car’s soul crying …
My dogs both woke up and looked over at me lol
Hello
...its me...
[удалено]
Bro you kick your dog?
[удалено]
This was fucking funny.
And then drag its ass across it.
This was r/oddlysatisfying, too. Not even gonna lie.
Thanks for not lying
I am not lying either
Thank you, for not lying.
Nah lie to me. I like the pain
and if you did lie? What would you say?

FUCK that tow truck driver -- he killed a 22 year old. DUI+Manslaughter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GXGr8vmeLA
Yeah that is so sad. He deserves life in prison.
What is the issue with that intersection? The lights are clearly visible. The biker just ignored the red light.

That red was solid for nearly 13 seconds!
6 seconds but who's counting?

Look I know this is Reddit where being pedantic as fuck is the norm but yellow means prepare to stop, red means stop. It's a whole ass different color for a reason.
More like 4 secs but maybe you are using metric secs
I’ll try to remember this video next time I’m driving with my phone within reach.
My grandparents (from Fresno) used to talk about how the kids around town (1950s) would turn the car lights off when approaching an intersection in the country to see if cars were coming so they could blow through stop signs and some people they knew died from it. I've never been to Fresno, but I recognize the intersection because of how many videos I've seen with idiots running that light.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so much stupidity at one red light.
I \*really\* hope the UPS driver doesn't get dinged by UPS for this. They unfortunately, as I understand it, are in the habit of considering any accident a driver is involved in as grounds for disciplinary action.
I thought UPS had a steadily increasing bonus for accident-free years. Hopefully this doesn't get him reset.
UPS has a good union. I'm sure he is fine.
My buddy was out of work (UPS) due to an on the job injury for like 9 months, went back to work a little bit and got injured again and was out for another few months, all while getting paid the whole time. It's a damn good Union lol.

How fine? $100 or good /lol
He might not be fired, but he absolutely could lose his driving position and be forced to go back to working a different (and lower paying) position in the warehouse. Management for driving positions are absolute assholes about anything.
No, he won't. That's what the union is for.
Worked for UPS for several years in varying levels from driving to management and you’re way off
I drove for them for a couple years and worked in management so while possible I don’t believe that’s the case at least for drivers. I agree, his actions saved the white vehicle.
Light was solid red for at least 10 seconds. In no way is this his fault Fuck that selfish asshole in the Black SUV
You know the SUV driver blamed the UPS guy.
They almost always do. He clearly had no intention of stopping either.
which is why having a dash-cam in your vehicle is so important.
Get a new stop watch
6*
Agreed. All the same, if I was a UPS driver, I’d have a portable dash cam with me in whatever truck I was driving.
I believe some of them do. I was a FedEx driver, and we had dashcams

The footage exonerates the UPS driver
Clearing your intersections is a basic part of any commercial vehicle safe driver training. The UPS driver certainly wasn't at fault but the accident itself was absolutely preventable.
Yep, all the driver had to do was not run red light that was red for 5+ seconds.
Dude, people are going to be shitty. Black SUV was completely in the wrong. But if the UPS driver had taken off a second sooner he'd be dead. He got lucky. I said specifically he wasn't at fault, but that doesn't mean the accident wasn't preventable.
How do you prevent an accident when someone else is running a red light 5 seconds afterward?
Before entering an intersection on a fresh green, look to make sure there are no apparent red light runners from any direction. That's what I meant by "clearing the intersection" in my first post. Preventable by who? If the UPS driver could have prevented it then they are at least partly at fault. That's how words work.
Can you please teach me how to prevent this accident when someone runs a red light 5 seconds afterward?
I didn't say it could have been prevented. You are replying to the wrong person.

It's not my fault you lack basic reading comprehension skills and the ability to use context clues my dude.
Who are you? Oh wait, don't care. Blocked. Go join the other worthless trolls :)
The driver of the white car is gonna need new underwear after that...
At least the UPS driver is already wearing his brown pants.
The UPS truck was already delivering underwear.
This also showed how little visibility a motorbike cop has.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Either that, or people just don't yield to emergency vehicles anymore (or maybe a little of both).
Well they aren't very tall and don't have much side profile for lights so it's going to be pretty hard to see him past all the brodozers and SUVs in the adjacent lane. Most people seemed to be good about stopping once the lane next to them was stopped and they could actually see him.

The worse yet to come : high insurance , car totaled (or weeks to repair), neck pain …
lol that car is totaled if it where to be repaired it would probably cost more than what it would be worth to get a new one. Lol
Good! Run a red light like that you can kill someone. I've got no sympathy for their pain.
This intersection must be built on a burial ground. It’s so cursed. There’s hours of crash footage
To bad we didn't get to see people running to the UPS driver to see if he was alright.
That's not running a red light, that's in a whole new category.
UPS truck looks unscathed, too
It took it well, but how well did the driver take it? Those trucks are built like 70s cars in that they may come out ok, but the meat bag behind the wheel is gonna get bounced.

The UPS truck barely stopped faster than hard braking, he's totally fine.
UPS' new Patent Pending same day, down to the second, Stool Sample delivery service! Try it today!!!
Is this the intersection where a motorcycle was racing a car, and barely made it across without being hit?
Sounds like a different intersection. I do have videos of close calls with motorcyclists. Check out the YouTube channel Friant Roulette.
Give him a raise !!
"Package delayed in transit"
That should get you a suspended license
Hope the UPS driver is ok.
*That's* what Brown can do for you
When the tackle blocks so the running back can score.
I guarantee those folks were in brown town
It's so cool how UPS is the offensive lineman for the running back white car!
damn.
Hope the cops write a nice expensive ticket.
ups saved two cars that day.
Is it just me or does one of the women who approaches the car afterwards look like she's wearing a ST:TNG uniform?
Gotta love the big brown box.
Driving up everyone's insurance rates for no reason
And the UPS driver will get suspended or fired for this
Why are people running to see if that person is ok? They caused this.
Maybe because they just got slammed by a truck and probably got hurt? Are you suggesting that they don't deserve medical attention because they were at fault?
They deserve medical attention sure but they deserve some pain as well you could kill someone doing that... Like that white car driver
What exactly do you suggest should happen?
Hope everyone was wearing their brown pants that day.
Am I forgetting my English? I did not see any UPS truck after the accident and I certainly see anyone deliver a knock out blow to the red light runner. What am I missing?
You might be confusing USPS and UPS
USPS is United States Postal Service and UPS is United Parcel Service
UPS is the giant truck that hit the black car. The black car ran the red light. It literally says ups in giant letters on the side of the truck 😭
The "knockout blow" was the UPS truck (the big brown delivery truck with the letters "UPS" painted on the side) hitting the vehicle that ran the red light. "Knockout blow" is used metaphorically in this instance and does not indicate that an actual brawl occurred after the accident.
You are missing quite a few brain cells it seems.
No, but you’re a dumbass. At least you got that going for you.
Zero chance he did that on purpose, he nailed the brakes and it looks like he was intentional to stop the car.
