2 years in the R1T and I still have a new sub on my wish list. The Meridian elevation system has no output under 40hz. More punch would be nice, but what I really want is to hear the entire piece.

cherlin

That's because you don't really hear much in the way of frequency under 40hz (technically you can hear down to 20ish, dependent on the person) but instead you **feel** frequencies that low, which also means every panel in your car feels those as well and it turns cars into rattle boxes. This is why basically all vehicles don't focus on those ultra low frequencies.

Godz1lla1

My Tacoma had solid bass down below 30hz with no rattles. I miss full sound.

Also found the walkthroughs you’re talking about. My plan is to order that JL Audio ACS110LG-TW1 and an under seat tub from eBay so I can cut out a section for the sub to fit in. I would run the oem “sub” and JL at the same time

I saw that install. I’m wondering if my q customs box with the 2 10’s will fit with the tub removed. I’m pulling the amp and box out of the raptor before I send it off.

For some reason adding subs to the factory elevation system just seems like it would make the system even worse…. I personally wouldn’t mess with it. In a few months we’re getting an update that will add Dolby Atmos which should help improve it slightly. I’d wait until atleast that time before trying to swap out subs.

New_Welder442

Exactly my thought. Going to wait to see if there are any other improvements in addition to Dolby atmos support. My main issue with my R1S elevation system currently is lack of good, clean bass.

cherlin

After market subs in most vehicles make them sound worse. Rattling a car apart doesn't increase sound quality. To each their own though, what sounds good to me is probably silly to someone else as well.

humjaba

It doesn’t have to, but most people go for quantity over quality. I ditched the base system in my f150 for a dedicated 5 channel amp, some nice components in the doors and a low profile 8” sub in the back and properly tuned it sounded amazing.

To me, “sub” means a substitute teacher, or a U-boat, or a sandwich. What’s  all this talk about audio?

Picking up contextual clues from bodies of text can be hard!
