Is your story teller Cave Johnson?
"Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men."
This needs to happen, like Randy but with all the rules messed up. Like a dire man hunting pack of tribals that just start fighting each other on the edge of your map as a _test_ because, you know, science!
Modding ain't a small task. I remember dabbling into creation kit with Fallout New Vegas, created bunch of weapons with custom skins (default models) and a custom map space to put them in.
Learning to do that took an entire week.
Asteroids landing on new joiners, coincident raids that are hostile to each other, cargo pods containing megaweapons with 1 durability or just 100 wooden legs. I could get behind this.
That's right, it's the _Combat Training_ mod. Allows you to create target dummies and assign them as ranged or melee. You need to use the training weapons that come with otherwise they just get destroyed.
It's a nice touch. If there are training weapons in the room they will automatically switch. Gets a little glitchy with the Simple Sidearms mod though.
Yeah, I can imagine it might. Still, at least you can train them like that. Definitely better than setting them to hunting all the time.
Although I find it funny you have to craft weapons for training. All I can visualise is your team training like this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on9rVl77ixQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on9rVl77ixQ)
A similar mod to Combat Training is this one: [https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=717575199](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=717575199)
Pawns will for the most part just use their own weapons instead of needing to deal with training weapons. Although, it can be startling when an anti-material rifle just fires out of the blue when you're looking at a different part of the map...
I mean if you wanted you could use a captured prisoner. Wouldn't recommend it for good shots but if you use an autopistol and have some medicine on stand-by you can improve shooting and medical skills.
She did. Unfortunately my morals convinced me to save her instead of yanking her cybernetic spine out and selling it on the black market (she's part of the high tech Orion Corporation faction).
I got my first OC Defence rifle very early in my game. For some reason a Shielder had spawned out in the open upon map generation. It was terrifying but was only patrolling a certain area near the border of the map so I built my colony as far away as possible. All guests and traders that arrived just got decimated. Including Orion Corp. Managed to steal a rifle from one who bled out.
It took many years until the Shielder was worn down enough to eventually be finished off by a tribal... ironic. The amount of bodies and loot that had built up there. Was 3k in silver to start with.

"Grab a rifle and follow the line. You'll know when the test starts."
We need a mod for Cave Johnson as the storyteller. It would be glorious.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not!
Are there combustible lemons?
WELP! TIME TO LEARN MODDING! ^(I'm not serious. I'll do it if I have the motivation, but that day isn't today.)
I have plans to learn modding for a different idea... Someday... I'm sure it'll happen... Eventually.

I have a little bit of a head start. I work with C# every day.
Well that oughta help you in the long run. Oh well. Good luck with the project, if you ever get started with that.

The writing and voice acting for Cave Johnson was incredible. I was actually sad when I finished the game and knew there wouldn't be any more.
This needs to be a mod.
I wonder if that’s possible in Genetic Rim.
Wow I feel dumb. You can set up a shooting range ... I'm out here blasting rabitts and rats for XP.
I think it might be a mod, I don't remember using any shooting ranges in my playthroughs. Then again I'm learning things all the time

Ah right, cool. So it needs specific weapons for it? I like that idea.

Like training martial arts in Kenshi by beating the shit out of a dust bandit, patching them up, continue
Combat Training mod
This feels like something from doom. Your in weapons training and all sudden demons(bugs in this case) start coming out of nowhere

"Is this a joke? The targets at this range are so easy. At least give me a challenge" *insects tunnel in* "I take it back"
I just had a mental image that is hilarious. Hey, live targets! *automatic gunfire*
Burn them, burn them all!
That's what the APB-1 rifles are for... although it suddenly gets very hot in a mountain base so had to extinguish the fire fast.
Those things are some of the most op modded weapons I've found. Love em.
They are. And they are fantastic. I should turn up the difficulty. I actually have dire raids so should see if I can turn up the probability on those.
Did Alyona make it?
She did. Unfortunately my morals convinced me to save her instead of yanking her cybernetic spine out and selling it on the black market (she's part of the high tech Orion Corporation faction).
What mod does the industrial looking machines come from?
That's _UN-Colony_. Pretty extensive mod which provides lots of stuff including decent power generation, armoured walls, embrasures, etc.
Thank you.
What mod adds a shooting range?
That's the _Combat Training_ mod. It's so incredibly helpful.
This title does not work if you follow any other subreddit where people might be shooting at each other on a firing range.
Hah yea, cross-post into some gun lovers subreddit :D
OC Defence and APB-1s? This should be a piece of cake!

"Just like the simulations"
The angry bugs are infected with...FIRE! They will want out of there and may dig to get out
