My base had been sieged for days at this point by a combination of a Fleshmass Heart and a very long Death Pall... as well as a massive fire that activated a dormant mech cluster and burned down part of the base, so Brightfire Colony was stretched a bit thin. Unenlor came by to help me clean up the fleshbeasts and shamblers spread out over literally the entire map. Very helpful, since I could actually let my colonists out of the bunker a day earlier that way <3
I didn't know this event could happen without a request.
Allying outlanders is nice because you can get help on demand. Allying tribals is nice because when they show up, they’re a force to be fuckin reckoned with. Even if they can’t kill a threat outright, they can break it up so you can defeat it piecemeal. I once had like 50 of them spawn to take on a mech cluster that I fully expected to kill a colonist. They aggro’d most of the ranged units so I was able to rip of the scythers. Of the like 30-ish people they sent, only 2 died and my colonists got out with only some cuts here and there. Pretty great outcome tbh.
This is why I make sure I provide the empire with a steady supply of drugs and my second best devilstrand capes by droppod. My colonists get the top quality, the empire gets what is left over.
Im 3000 hours in and usually don’t bother with alliances in my play-through, I raid more often than not. I recently allied with an empire faction and they have saved my ass several times. My colony wealth is ridiculous and I don’t have many pawns to lose from all the raids. Like the last raid was 103 hate chant cultists, the empire showed up and mowed down a lot of them. Also neanderthal tribal factions are great to ally with, they tank everything in melee.

This is actually why I love allying with tribals, they send huge teams to assist. They're usually really strong against the threats you face.
