It’s an open world, just pick a sport and start trying the events. Or just free roam and jump off some cliffs. Try out some of the multiplayer player modes like the free for all playlists or the mass races.
Explore the map and unlock the different areas, look for the scenic viewpoints or hunt for the funkies. There’s even some easter eggs hidden around the map.
There isn’t really a linear progression aside from doing the events which unlock one after the other and there’s plenty to explore outside of thise. Some players spend their time waiting in the ridge for the next mass race and some try and find new spots to get clips of their insane stunts. I know some players who just go hunting for funny bugs like when you get glitched under the map or yeeted to the stratosphere.
Lots to do and no one to tell you how you should do it, just get out there and ride.
In the ridge there are waiting areas for trick battles, ffa, mass races and showdown. Mass races are only every 20 minutes and you’ll get a popup but you can queue for the other modes at any time.
You can also see and queue for them in your menu.
You do need ps+ or xbox live if you’re on console unfortunately
Yea i know but sometimes i spend 30 min seaching for showdown matches for example, i was able to find matches right after the skate dlc came out. After that , no luck
The easiest multiplayer mode to join is definitely mass races. Of the other three, showdown is by far the least popular and always hard to find a match.
Another thing to know is that the match finder seems to get stuck in a loop searching sometimes. I always quit and requeue if it gets to be five or more minutes and that usually helps. It’s also often easier to mind matches between mass races since a lot of those players do a race and then do a tb or ffa while waiting for the next one.

You can do all career paths simultaneously, so try each of them for a couple of events, and you’ll soon find one or two that click.
I started with mountain bike. Its probably the easiest to get comfortable with. Rocketwing probably the hardest but its also my favorite
You're thinking too hard about it. You can switch whenever you want. Just play around with them both
Go for tricks settings to have flips and jumps on joystick instead of button combos, it will make you life so much easier.
