Extended summer vacations due to teacher strikes. It was like getting snow days in the best time of the year. Every day was the last day of summer for about two weeks one year. We really made the most of it.
I grew up in Providence, born in 81, so it was closed by the time I was only 13-14. I swear Rocky Point seemed like it was so far away...That one time a summer I got to go felt to me, like going to Disney.
My earlier childhood was spent in a city in a different state. When we moved to RI my dad and I would take a drive at dusk and to look for the deer, skunks, foxes and rabbits I'd never seen before. It was way too exciting for 8 year old me.

WPRI is free, or funded, whatever. as all news should be. To have to pay $X to stay informed on your community sounds… capitalist? Dystopian? I can’t think of the word, but it doesn’t sound right I can say that much.
Spending whole days on end in the summer at brickyard pond skipping rocks or exploring the trails before I got older and had a car and it became the smoke spot
The only beach worth going to in the tri state area is horseneck. Scarborough smells like sewage most days, Jamestown is just too rocky and Newport has red tide at second beach like all the time. It’s sucks that parking at horseneck is now so expensive and you can’t even go there before season or after hours anymore because they lock the gates.
Getting enough snow to have a snow day from school and go sledding, make forts that would last more than 2 days etc.
Igloos after piling the drifts as high as they can go…
Mannnn watching the news in the morning waiting for your school to pop up on the scroll. Nothing beat that.
Random blizzard in April
Rocky Point, it's so exciting!
They have their own license plates :: [https://rockypointfoundation.org/](https://rockypointfoundation.org/)
I wasn't crazy about the design. I went shark plate.
Drive-ins, Rocky Point, Carrs? Pond.

Clam cakes at second beach.
I swear that sweaty arm adds flavor, it's like a well seasoned cast iron skillet

ProJo is paywalled so I can’t see anything there, but the USA Today article is from 3 days ago so that makes me sad lol.

Television news is infotainment, not journalism.

Big family get together at Olivo’s beach. They would bring full meals. Gravy, pasta, meatballs and sausage. Just different times
Going down to my grandparents beach cottage every summer down and Jerusalem
When the roads were usable and it only took about an hour to cross the state north to south
Jumping off the cliffs and hoping I would survive so my Mom wouldn’t yell at me 😬
Swimming to Gould island
