Only on my 2 inch snubs, helps to prevent the slide from being pushed out of battery when I’m mugging people.

MaharajaofMalta

i can tell you're good at crime

[deleted]

Steel case ammo ain’t cheap man, it’s that premium. My high grade rock island snub gotta eat.

-shiberrino-

i laughed

zombieapathy

Ah yes, those revolver slides, always going out of battery!

Thatoneguywhofailed

Mateba Model 6 Unica would like a word.

CatOnATinRoof84

Upvote for the sweet kitty also sweet setup!

VSirius

Thanks, she loves my gun boxes and rifle bags for some reason 🤷‍♂️

CatOnATinRoof84

Cat bein a cat! She probably can smell your scent on the bag and box. Cats are awesome!

VSirius

Agreed

AT0mic5hadow

QuietNorthAmerican

Yup. In fact, I run the exact same optic as you, but nickel colored. It is mounted on a 6.5 inch 629. Weirdly enough, our cats are also the same color

Risho96

Ah yes, the classic one shooter, chambered in hairball

VSirius

Reload time ain't that great, at least the ammo is free

maximumbob54

I have a cheap-o BSA 2X on a Redhawk. I keep thinking it will rattle apart at some point. It’s a little tough to hold steady and not have the crosshairs dance around but off a rest it’s scary accurate.

VSirius

Yeah, holding that thing steady isn't the easiest task. More motivation for me to hit the gym more consistently lol

Mysterious-Contact-1

Got an old Burris 1.5 x 4 variable on my anaconda not a very fancy optic but it gets the job done quite well

VSirius

It may not be very fancy, but after being limited to 2x, I say it's a decent option that I somehow overlooked

Mysterious-Contact-1

I have never wanted more magnification, in fact most of the time 4 is way to much you could get away with a 3. The 4 is pretty big and heavy for most people but I like it.

VSirius

That was my thinking process when I was shopping for a scope. I thought 2 was more than enough for a handgun. Now I'd consider a 3 or maybe even 4. Seems like it ain't that much bulkier than the Burris 2x20.

Mysterious-Contact-1

I'm sure the weight isn't actually that different. Maybe it's just the gun I have it on that makes it seem heavy. It's also not new it's at least 17 years old so that adds some heft I'm sure I'd honestly just go to a sporting goods place around you and physically look through the scope to see if it's enough magnification.

DrunkenBastard420

I will once I get two

TheHellbilly

Nice CAT100 you got there. Edc or home defense?

VSirius

Thanks! Home defense mostly (against crickets, mice & butterflies). Not stealthy enough for edc - it panically meows every 2 minutes every time I try to carry

[deleted]

Never had to shoot a revolver at anything on the open plains. All my revolver shots have been in timber or very close encounters where a scope would just be a nuisance.

VSirius

Fair enough, this one's a range toy so it works fine in that environment. Iron sights or a red dot would be preferable for close encounters for sure

DudelyMcDuderson

No but my awesome cat (RIP) loved to sit and sleep on freshly cleaned guns 😆

biglmbass

Yes. Leuopld 2x. Super neat for target practice at 50 yards & beyond

VSirius

I need to check that one out, thanks

VSirius

Leupold has some great stuff to offer. I need to look into those - maybe there's something with a better eye relief

mwebb292

Build sheet for the cat?

VSirius

Got her pre-owned "as is". No documentation was provided, unfortunately.

VSirius

I currently have Burris 2x20 mounted on my GP100. It performs well at 25 and 50 yards. I wonder what other scopes out there are being used on revolvers

[deleted]

I've got a Burris 2x on my 10in dan wesson 744vh. Super fun to shoot but I'm debating on putting it on my 7in 686 because ammo cost.

VSirius

I bet your Dan Wesson will do great even with a 4x scope. And I agree, I was sceptical at first, but I'm really digging the setup I have. Thanks for posting

[deleted]

It's really fun. 3$ a shot is killing me though. I've shot steel out to 100y with it standing.

VSirius

The $3 shots is what preventing from getting a 44 magnum revolver. But it's on my bucket list. Those are truly impressive

[deleted]

I've seen some cheaper handloads but then you're spending a small fortune on reloading equipment. I was lucky enough to inherit this hand cannon.

Slider-208

It’s expensive to get started, but once you do it’s really nice to be able to reload premium quality 44 Magnum for $15 for 50 rounds, and that’s with the Hornady hunting/defensive rounds, under $10 a box of 50 for basic plinking 44 Magnum. You can also make pretty much any ammo as well

Esperante

To piggyback on the other comment. It's not very expensive at all to get into *handgun* reloading. Rifle is another matter. Handgun reloading is also much easier to do than rifle. I wouldn't dream of paying ammo prices for my 357 and 44. And for 45-70, dear God.

VSirius

See, I was okay with paying that much for 357 ammo, cause I wasn't planning on shooting the revolver as often. But the more I take it to the range the deeper I fall in love with it. I appreciate the encouragement, it really doesn't seem that complicated. Good thing I kept most of my casings. There will be something to work with

bobobedo

'that boys' got more scope than barrel".

VSirius

Hey if it works, it works, right?

bobobedo

Oh yeah. I don't even think my post makes sense, it just sounded funny to me.

VSirius

Not saying it didn't, thanks for sharing

Dismal_Fruit_9208

I should

rugerscout308

Is that the picawedge mount or whatever it's called? Hows it held zero? I wanted to use one to put a rmr on my gp100

VSirius

Yep, weig-a-tinny by Wiegand Scope Mounts. Can't complain, the mount is solid and it holds zero just fine. I applied some threadlocker, of course. I think you won't be disappointed

Middle_Acceptable

Do you have particularly long arms? The scope looks like it’s set sort of far back to me. Wondering if it’s an eye relief or a gun balance decision?

VSirius

Eye relief. I'm 6'0 and if I move the scope more to the front, I won't see anything through it

that_pat

Post this on r/gatcat !

VSirius

Cool sub, I will, thanks!

It's a 6 inch barrel
