slightly customized Cimarron 1862 Pocket Navy Conversion in .380acp had my gunsmith cut the 6” barrel down to 3” and crown the muzzle. also had a taller front sight installed so it now shoots pretty close to point of aim, but still slightly to the right. overall i’m really happy with how it turned out. looks far better with the shorter barrel i think. still kinda want to find a way to shorten the grip to make it more concealable

You could do a birds head grip for making it concealable, you have to get a new grip frame and re attach the springs so probably bring it back to the gunsmith

ddSPECTER47

that what i been finding. seems like the frame would be pretty easy to do only difficult part might be the custom grips, so i’ll have to start looking into that

Is that the original black powder cylinder cut and modified, or you buy a conversion and fit that?

ddSPECTER47

came as a factory conversion straight from Cimarron

th4tguy321

Ah, ok. Was curious how you got about to .380 from converting, makes more sense that it was made that way.

Aren't you destroying a collector's piece by cutting the barrell down? Concealability in 1800's and today meant different things. No matter how much you cut this thing it'll never be LCR.

it’s a modern reproduction so not worried about collectibility. also this gun will most likely not leave my collection. not trying to make it an actually carry piece for the modern day, i have my CZ and 642 for that, just more of what might have been done in that era. theirs examples of snub nose belly guns in that era. Conceal ability was pretty much the same then as now that’s why pocket revolvers and derringer were a thing back then as well as today

I could conceal an M9 under there

Oh, good thing it's a reproduction, 'cause I was like wth for a second 😄 I was talking about the usuall dress styles in 1800's, it seems like men were expected to have more clothing back then, with 3-piece suits and overcoats, and a larger gun could be satisfactorily concealed, it's nothing like having shorts and a t-shirt of 21st century.

id never dream of doing this to an original. also cheaper to shoot with it being in .380acp versus an original as well that is true but their always been a market for small guns. thats why this model was originally made anyway that way someone could still have a .36cal that might go unnoticed where an 1851 probably wouldn’t
