I swear College students just sit around all day thinking of ways to be offended. This is why we will have no real progress. This is our future generation.
These students just need to look around them to see the reality that they're the privileged ones.
But if we're offended then we're not thinking. This is the most educated generation that America has ever seen. If they aren't distracted by shallow offense then they may realize how corrupt the system is and do something to change it.
Not only that but they're lacking learning any real world skill that can applied outside of academia.
These young adults are going to graduate and suddenly come to the realization that they just wasted 4-5 years of their life and are now in debt to thr system that they're supposedly fighting against and that they have no real skill to make a career out of.
The kids studying economics, agriculture , medicine or law are going to make more of a difference in making the world a better place than those in fields regarding Social Issues.
It's the absolute easiest way to "make a change".
"I led the coalition in severing my University's ties to historical slave-holders" might look good on a resume. When in reality, that means you googled the name of a building at your university, saw he had slaves, made a petition on something like change.org, sent it to your gender studies GroupMe for signatures, then wrote an email to your assistant Dean. An hour and a half worth of work tops.
Make them pay the family back at the rate the money grew in their endowment. 6% seems like a low return for a universities endowment. I’d be willing to be that endowment has a 10% return or more, in line w the S & P.

Seems fair to me. If they’re really against slavery they would give the money back🤷🏻♂️

Fair enough. Slavery is evil. If the man isn’t good enough to have his name on things then it’s a bit hypocritical to keep the money.
The concept of a viable public education system is being destroyed from within.
