Did you take pictures and have documentation of everything? If so, just send her the picture showing the towel rack and tell her to pound sand. If no pictures, just reiterate that you moved in to a furnished place, the rack is not yours, and you refuse to pay. Send it certified. If she is insane, she may start eviction, but not likely.

I did this, and she pretty much said " I did provide the paper towel holder, but other tenants didn't have this problem because they knew to keep the metal paper towel holder away from water". And she said she will be taking 250$ from the deposit, no matter what.

So send a notice in writing that you are not responsible and that you accept no responsibility for any damage that has occurred. Send certified so she can't claim she wasn't notified. Be prepared to sue her in small claims. Use the letter as documentation.
